Post players who've been figured out.

For me its the Washington Nationals vs The Los Angeles Dodgers.
These two teams have what it takes to be elite. The elite rotation complimented with frightening bullpens will be a baseball fan's dream come true. The offensive fronts of both teams will prove lethal to any pitcher coming their way. Two of the greatest teams in the majors this decade will spar in a glorious matchup! Cant wait!!

Where does Sidd Finch rank among the Mets all-time greats?

Why no watch Yakyu, Onii-san?

Based Japan bringing baseball back for 2020.

Otani will bring the world to its knees.

If it was mlb player I totally get me a japanese gf

>kongs

fuck bartman, attention whoring crybaby
him and that fucking faggot marlins man

Well, they are currently the odds-on favorites to meet in the NLCS, no?

The pitching matchups could be really great to watch. Scherzer and Kershaw, Darvish and Strasburg if he's healthy, Gio gonzalez and alex wood, too.

kys

would be cool if he pitched to a 0.00 ERA in 25 IP while batting .400/.500/.700 with 10 dongs at the olympics and then came over to the MLB

he should be here in 2019 though barring injuries or really horrible regression, right?

>catch a foul ball
>get sent into the witness protection program
>the 3rd world hamlet of Chicago

If London ever got an MLB or NFL team, I'd name them the Werewolves

Kenta Maeda got himself a kawaii and playful wife

nobody knows, cause the posting system isn't in place.
most of NPB teams want a limitless system, while the rich NPB teams (the Giants and Hawks) and the poor MLB teams want no limit.
Honestly, MLB is always trying to fuck over the Japanese and it's really getting to them. They started hunting the Japanese prospects and taking them from Japan, which there was a gentleman's agreement to not do so.
Also, these Japanese stars are so important that a guy like Shohei Otani is the only reason the Ham Fighters are still around and getting a new stadium. MLB either turns these NPB players into studs (see Darvish), or wastes their talent (see Daisuke Matsuzaka). MLB now wants to cap that at $20 million, a fraction of what Shohei Otani is worth.

oops, I meant the poor MLB teams want a cap.

>shorks

>implying I'm a shorks fan
that's a good one

>poor MLB teams want a cap
why? if everyone is capped at 20 million, what japanese player is going to go to milwaukee or tampa when LA/boston/NY can offer the same amount, and it's even less of a financial stress on those big teams?

Fine then

>retard is so butt devastated he has to post about /hoc/ on /mlb/

And then he posts a pic of some guy drinking chardonnay

Typical bay area faggot post

Or something that looks like the English royal guard would look sick

sad desu. though from reading about Ohtani, he seems passionate as fuck and would kill for a chance to play in Babe's league. let's hope his agents/advisors/family don't put it off until he gets a 400million dollar contract from the outset

Theme teams, let's do it. It's working out great for the DBacks. Everyone gets a theme. Cleveland's theme is a heroin overdose corpse.

cleveland's theme is now elite sidearm action

The MLB didn't "waste" Matsuzaka's talent. It wasn't like what the Mets did with Syndergaard where the team and staff overworked and physically destroyed him. His first year in the MLB was getting signed to the team that would go on to win the world series that year for 52 million dollars. The Red Sox made him a starting pitcher and when he was no longer competitive in a major league way. The problem is not the MLB, it's just delusion on your end for falling for the hype and thinking "Matsuzaka was entitled to a hall of fame or at least multi Cy Young worthy career!". He was given a thousand times the chances most prospects ever get and he couldn't get the results.

Not to mention, the MLB can't swoop in on any of these guys without the senior ownership/league/handler guys interceding or approving. Picking up a Japanese prospect is nothing like a Latino one.

Then there is the fact that the NPB, though impressive for a foreign country, is still basically a joke compared to the MLB. The NPB clubs make short sighted, 'irrelevant to winning baseball', management decisions that embarass most MLB clubs. There are shitty owners and GMs in the MLB (Marlins especially atm) but there is definitely a sense of parity and a will to win.

Matz helped the red sox win the WS in 2007.. what more do you want?

I didn't argue that point. He was a great number 3 starter after Beckett and Schilling that year. The gentleman only said the league "wasted his talent", which is absurd.

>It's working out great for the DBacks

You know, for a country as baseball crazy as Japan, i'm surprised the NPB doesn't do better financially. They certainly get the attendance, but it seems like they have a real problem with financial management. Pretty much every team outside of Hanshin and Yomiuri would be in the red if it wasn't for their corporate sponsors. Considering the population density of Japan, a 12 team league feels pretty small as well.

You also get weird situations like the Orix Buffaloes, which is a merger of the former Orix BlueWave and the Kintetsu Buffaloes. They split their home games between Orix and Kobe, the former locations of the two franchises.

Syndergaard isn't physically destroyed.
Go ahead, give me (you)'s, I don't care. But there's no proof that he's physically destroyed.

The old uniforms were objectively better.

Not until he attempts to come back and has lost velocity, no.

I think they have some agreement where the club selects where they go.
I don't know the specifics, but it's seriously retarded.

I agree 100%. MLB has it's head up it's ass to the point that they're destroying the game worldwide. They destroyed KBO by plundering prospects, if NPB doesn't dig it's heels in then they'll die too.

Biggest issues:
1. Making him the most expensive Japanese player
2. Making him a $100 million player
3. Not letting him train how he needed to
4. Not having him be properly trained to adapt to MLB, because a 6'5 pitcher will be fine while someone smaller needs better training to adapt
I know what I'm talking about because one of my professors is a longtime sox fan and also wrote an entire book on Daisuke.
Also, you know jackshit about NPB and should really stop acting like you do. NPB isn't a joke, it's a high quality league that is the best non-MLB league in the world.
Also, Japanese players can be poached before they sign NPB contracts and have been poached. MLB has more money to offer and before now would have never tried to interfer, but now is trying to disrupt the natural flow.

Blame the J-League for competing with NPB and the new generation of Japanese people. Orix is a weird situation but that's mostly the fault of the league rather than the teams. They wanted to expand but only had one potential team, so they contracted.

that's the Japanese soccer league, right? Didn't realize it was doing that well.

This is cringeworthy. So, Matsuzaka being treated like a prima donna and not being treated like a prima donna was his ruin? Sorry, you can't have things two, three, four different ways and going full Matsuzaka Internet Defense Force with childish arguments like "you don't know shit" and ">muh professor" is comical.

Get fucked, he was mediocre at the MLB level.

He was an elite pitcher in 2008.

Then he got injured like 3 seasons in a row and that fucked him up forever.

Yeah, special training to acclimate to a MLB schedule is no joke. Dice-K's body didn't adjust and it showed.

It is doing actually pretty well. Enough to take away attention from the NPB. But, even as a whole Japan isn't really intrested in sports like they used to. The same thing happened in MLB, where guys like Mantle and Mays are seen as gods and cultural icons while nowadays we have Lebron James and Connor McGregor. who are seen as celebrities and superstars. Gods don't exist anymore.
Also, since Japan has had so many potential Legendary players leave, many Japanese teams don't have the same stars that they used to. Along with this, baseball used to be a massive cultural event as it was what pretty much brought the country out of the shithole post-WW2 and gave the Japanese something to be proud of. You think you love baseball? You should see how much they loved it. It was their only constant in a world that seemed chaotic and uncertain.

you really know nothing about how Japanese pitchers are made, do you? These are players who in high school are regularly pushed to the limits. The only comparison I have ever heard to their training is the Soviet athletic system. Japanese players as a whole push themselves to their physical limits, further than 99% of US trained players. Why do you think a legend like Larry Doby couldn't even cut it? If the league was so shit wouldn't he be great in it?
>Get fucked
That was more childish than anything I said.
Also, training has nothing to do with being a prima-donna. You have to help a young player develop in the right way, but not discourage him from what he knows. What if Hank Aaron was told to not hit so hard and be a contact hitter, because he was only 170lb? He wouldn't be in Cooperstown, that's for sure.

Another great point, NPB only plays 66% of the games that MLB plays.

you act like syndergaard is preparing for advanced Tommy John and his career is fucking over. I want him to fail as much as any insecure doyer fan but he has a torn lat, not an overworked elbow ffs

Why the fuck would we give a shit about a team with their fluke tier pitchers that isnt even gonna make the playoffs?

Keep projecting tho canadabro

NPB is AAA level, hardly impressive. Considering Japan's population and baseball being relatively more popular there than it is here they produce a pathetically small amount of quality baseball players.

And I'm pretty sure the J League has little to do with NPB not being financially successful, MLB faces much stiffer competition than that. NPB is still the most popular league in Japan, MLB is not even close to being more popular than the NFL. NBA, NHL, and NCAA are popular also yet MLB manages to be wildly successful financially, all of our big sports leagues are. NPB is just retarded as a league, partially voluntarily since the teams just act as marketing for their parent company instead of like an independent business.

You seem to be the one who doesn't understand Japanese pitchers.

Kenta Maeda literally underwent special strength training over the offseason to adjust to the 9 inning, 162 game schedule.

Dice K's body fell apart wishing a couple years of MLB.

I hope i can get tickets to this game man, the traffic at this time of day is crazy

>The idea of trade value being defined by prospects’ place on a list somehow has come into prominence, and it is the height of absurdity, as if being top 50 on one person’s subjective list, as opposed to top 75, makes one particular trade more valuable than others.

/mlb/ absolutely btfo

>Steve Bartman has a WS ring before Kershaw does.

Clayton Kershaw is the best starting pitcher in baseball

t. Regular Season

I don't think we can stop the dodgers this time bros

Maybe it's finally their time? Like it was the Cubs last year.

Honestly, this is the beginning of the greatest dynasty in baseball history. We're talking a 10-peat, at least. Unstoppable.
