Beatles. Beach Boys are a fucking joke. Beatles are unquestionable GOAT, no one ever wrote better songs. It's a fucking insult to even compare them.
Yes. Rush is pretty good but I prefer that early 70s production of Fragile & Close to the Edge.
The Rolling Stones. The Who are great but The Stones are just better, closer to the essence of pure rock.
Led Zeppelin. I absolutely love Pink Floyd, but Led Zeppelin has a better body of work overall and they were better songwriters. They're hard to compare because they're both beyond excellent and diverse in approach. Though Led Zeppelin could do Pink Floyd better than Pink Floyd could do Led Zeppelin.
Alice in Chains. AiC is probably my second favourite band ever after Led Zeppelin. Nirvana are still great and Nevermind is timeless. AiC's songwriting is vastly underrated and Rust in Peace aside, probably the best guitar playing of the 90s. Aside from Polly and Something in the Way Nevermind is basically the same song over and over again, but with fucking excellent songwriting so it doesn't really get tiring. The production is even better on Dirt and the songs vary a lot more, with excellent songwriting.
Haven't listed to much of either, but Bob Dylan is pretty meme-y.
Haven't really listed to either of Arcade Fire or Flaming Lips. From the little of I've heard of Arcade Fire they sounded like a meme.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Both are meme bands but Swans are much more of a meme than GY!BE.
Boards of Canada. More innovative production compared to Aphex Twin. I'd rather listen to Plastikman or something more underground than Aphex Twin.
