There's a rumor that the big guy that's behind acfun moved and acfun is somehow being recommended by some ccp officials though

is that guy slowly turning into a question mark?

Banning taiwan ip worked
Now 备胎 dao is safe due to banning of taiwan ip post
Ccp autist net cop seized before they fix it

But a岛 is more like a site that's made for autists by few autists for free, not k岛 which also is made for normies and they earn money from it
So as adao is just a site run by shitty computer and few volunteer mods, it's great if taiwanese can control their eagerness to 反攻大陆 or something

I'd say in terms of why a dao sank, kdao and some taiwan autists are the reasons. But the reason why it's still not up is by ccp who thought that it's a porn sharing site in the beginning

In addition, it's going to be up again as a """"safe"""" site with no taiwan ip posting

What's the point of learning Mandarin if you aren't a native speaker? Will you ever even be able to read a chink newspaper or have a meaningful conversation with a Mandarin speaker?

you stupid fuck dont like money and women

this

What I am asking is if it is even possible for a Westerner to learn Chinese to a meaningful level of proficiency (barring individuals who train from childhood of course).

淦,原来是湾湾仔搞的鬼

I'm a second generation retard who can only speak shanghainese, is there a retard proof dictionary?

Of course it's possible you idiot.

I'm a witto piggu who started learning as an adult and I can read the papers listen to the radio and all that.

Takes willpower and dilligence obviously.

侬似桑害宁哦,阿拉似刚波佬

Speaking is really easy
Grammer is like easy as fuck and talking is quite okay as long as you're friendly to chinese and speaks frequently without being an average american that can't take the breath of commies and air that's not free
Writing is hard but it's okay if you study since young

我知道的话就像一个外国人。我把它放在google和读一次。我很笨。

普通话听起来有点像上海话。

Do you even need to ask? All things considered I probably know more Japanese and French than chinese. And my shanghainese is terrible too.

T-thanks Sup Forums.

Your chinese is way better than what i imagined
I don't even think you should learn chinese more thnlan that

In addition, shanghainese is literally cancer tier useless dialect
Shanghainese splits into rural shanghainese dialect and urban shanghainese dialect, and speaking rural ones will literally shame yourself in shanghai urban area.
South can't understand shanghainese and north will just be triggered when they hear shanghainese.

Thankyou user. I'm aware of the division. Perhaps I'll keep plugging away with that chinese dictionary plugin.

Ambition? Learning any other language than English makes only sense if it's for fun. There are enough people in the world already who speak English and Mandarin.

google.com/amp/bigthink.com/dragons-and-pandas/why-marrying-a-chinese-woman-is-a-good-idea.amp

>A German top official with the Goethe-Institute in Shanghai once remarked that “marrying a Chinese woman will make you rich.” This statement was soon retracted, and the man repatriated, but his advice wasn't too far off the mark. Each year there are thousands of Western males flocking into Shanghai or Beijing with dreams to find a Chinese woman, learn the language, and make a fortune - in that order. A research paper recently found that Asian-White couples are making the most money. They may even often make the better parents. The list of stereotypes goes on. The Western "obsession" with Asian femininity and sexuality goes back to over three hundred years of European colonialism and orientalism, well reported in literature and scholarship. This is the final part from a chapter on ‘Gender’ taken from the East-West dichotomy:

>[...] Just as Asia had to bend down and suffer under Western military and economic might, so did it have to be submissive to the ‘dominance vs. submission’ sexuality catechism. As long as those occupied cultures did not become ‘Westernized,’ i.e. did not conform to a certain level of moral conduct set by Europe and the USA, they remained “stripped of all privileges and left with an ascribed eroticism that invites sexual engagement, exploitation and ultimate abandonment” (Lin, 2007).

Why are Taiwan Province and all islands in the South China Sea marked???????????????

Taiwan is an inalienable part of the People's Republic of China and all maps should say so

Hmmmmmmmmmm I wonder if the footfag or sinologist kraut wrote this

>Now, while all the authors and scholars quoted above allude to the ‘animal instinct’ of bad Western wolves and innocent Asian sheep, I cannot quite get myself to agree with these ‘chronicles of victimization’ of Asia that only play further into the hands of Western dominance. On the contrary, I do believe that in our modern world, civility will prevail over barbarism. Or, as one of China’s major entertainers, Jackie Chan, alias Cheng Long [成龙], once said, “We urge more foreigners to marry Chinese women!”

>Well, Mr. Chan, this is what Western men usually do in China. Or, at least that is what they aspire to do, not only in China, but in the whole of East Asia. To put this into socioeconomic perspective: In an international world, Ms. Asia has already claimed Ms. West’s boyfriend. Ms. Asia will make sure that her culture prevails, and, believe it or not, he will spend his money on her and, facing the shortage of children and crisis back home, he will stake his future on her and her kin.

>On a philosophical level, the idea of a masculine West and a feminine East that transcends all human experience and forms a sense of liberation and harmony – Blaise Pascal called it logique du Coeur, or ‘wisdom of the heart’ – is a popular concept of dualism, also evident in yin and yang (阴阳): the feminine or negative principle in nature, or moon, and the masculine or positive principle in nature, or sun.

>The lives of women in the People's Republic of China have significantly changed throughout reforms in the late Qing Dynasty, the Chinese Civil War, and rise of the People's Republic of China, which publicly committed itself to gender equality.[3] Efforts the new Communist government made toward gender equality were met with resistance in the historically male-dominated Chinese society, and obstacles continue to stand in the way of women seeking to gain greater equality in China.

Native-level proficiency is hard as fuck for a Westerner, don't let people ITT fool you. A *working* level proficiency is pretty much the height of acheivement

Will be posted on /r/hapas in 3 2 1....

>Sheng nu (剩女; shèngnǚ; common translation: "leftover women" or "leftover ladies") is a derogatory term made popular by the All-China Women's Federation that classifies women who remain unmarried in their late twenties and beyond.[1][2][3][4] The term is most prominently used in China, including a state sponsored directive and program, but has been used to describe women across Asia, India, and North America.[5][6] The term has gone on to become widely used in the mainstream media and has been the subject of several televisions series, magazine and newspaper articles, and book publications focusing on both the good and bad aspects of the term and surrounding culture.[7] Xu Xiaomin of The China Daily described the sheng nus as "a social force to be reckoned with" while others have argued the term should be taken as a positive to mean "successful women".[8][9] The slang term, 3S or 3S Women, meaning "single, seventies (1970s), and stuck" has also been used in place of sheng nu.[9][10] The equivalent term for men, guang gun (光棍) meaning bare branches, is used to refer to men who do not marry and thus do not add 'branches' to the family tree.[11] Similarly, shengnan (剩男) or "leftover men" has also been used.[9][12][13]

Well, at least in my country there can be career opportunities (in both the private sector and gov) if you have a passable level of Mandarin

check any international airport lounge, people going to japan are totally different from the ones that go to china
I realized this back at the year 2009 (when china was not that mainstream)
at Paris CDG airport, the ones going to osaka were fat, childish and loud, meanwhile the ones going to guangzhou were quiet, mature, with a killing staring, warrior people

Kek you haven't met lower class japanese then

We are very traditional and very to the point/loud.

When reading Chinese how do you group the characters correctly to form the correct words when more than one grouping is possible?

Like I think "return home from China" would be 从中国回来 but 从中 can be grouped to form "from within". So the same sentence could be understood as "from within country return home".

How do you ensure correct character grouping when reading? Without needing to read the sentence multiple times analysing the multiple meanings?

I was talking about the westerners (non-asians) that go to china, japan

>Speaking chinese (mandarin) with proficiency is easier than speaking spanish with proficiency.

That's a lie. For starters, Mandarin Chinese has that tonal system that doesn't exist in English or Spanish. There are almost no Chinese-English cognates except for loanwords. The sentence structure is wildly different. Not to mention the vast difference in writing systems (although tbf you're talking about speaking). Spanish is possibly the easiest language for a native English speaker to learn.

context? Like if you were trying to express something that meant "from within the country" there are better ways of putting it

Except the most difficult spoken traits of Spanish (being a romance language) make it as difficult. The verb/noun order and many moods make Spanish very difficult to master if you grew up speaking a germanic language.
This is even more true for German/Nordic instead of English (which has many French traits).

Even considering the multiple verb tenses and pronouns and all that nasty shit in Spanish, spoken Mandarin makes up for it in tones and what not

but yeah generally Mandarin grammar is much easier

When I return from China....

The State Department did a study looking at how long it takes to train their diplomats (top university students, native English speakers often already proficient in at least one language other than English) to learn a foreign language.

atlasandboots.com/foreign-service-institute-language-difficulty/

Category 1 (575-600 hours): Spanish, Italian, French, Dutch, etc.

Category 2 (750 hours): German

Category 3 (900 hours): Malaysian, Indonesian

Category 4 (1100 hours): Russian, Croatian, Greek, etc.

Category 5 (2200 hours): Arabic, Mandarin, Japanese

What does a working level proficiency entail?

Yeah and that's for fluency in spoken AND written

bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-07-21/china-s-2-4-trillion-cigarette-habit-is-actually-progress

>China, the world’s largest cigarette market, is to some degree kicking the habit. While figures from Euromonitor International showed 2.4 trillion cigarettes were smoked last year, that marks the second straight annual decline. China has been raising taxes and toughening anti-smoking laws, and Euromonitor expects the numbers to keep dropping -- at an average rate of 2.3 percent annually -- through 2021.

I would look at the ratings for the International Language Roundtable (or whatever it's called, just google it) and look at how they classify things for it. They also have video examples of what kind of a conversation would be working proficiency vs. native. vs beginner, etc.

Very good news
They should hike the tax to 20% this year. That'll pay for itself with a healthier population.

RIP good cats
