My point is, guitars on Obscura are way more high pitched and there isn't even much that distortion to them. There's not much aggression to the sound either (aside for the vocals). And at that point, dissonance doesn't really make it 'death' but rather 'math'. So how is this different from, say, Dillinger Escape Plan?
Guitars on Legion are not downtuned, but the album's sound is still aggressive and heavy.

The overall tone and sound is much like sludge. And mathcore did something similar, experimental dissonant bullshit with harsh vocals.
