When I write music I listen to songs I really like and Try to remake it but with different chords and voicings which is the only thing it has in common with the song. What Distortion pedal should I buy for my Tele if I want to get a heavy metal tone out of it? I've heard they can also do metal surprisingly well with the right set up, even with default pickups. I'm not looking for that fuzzy death metal tone, something that would help me get a thrash tone would probably be ideal. I was looking at a Boss DS-1 or DS-1 but I don't know if it will be powerful enough.
I retried it. I might return this electric and go for an electric classical because after playing guitar for a few weeks now, it's the kind of music I like to play.

The martin has a lot more bass, it's better for strumming/all-around playing whereas the taylor has a very delicate sound. The taylor breaks up when you try to strum her too hard, so it's more for intricate picking/fingerwork imo.

With the floyd rose I can do all kinds of orca noises and ambient dumb shit, i get too distracted when I play it but it sounds fucking cool. And if i put on my heavy distortion its so chugga chugga but with a very detailed string articulation like no other distorted guitar I've ever heard.

The taylor is a grand concert with a cutout so it feels smaller. The neck is shorter, but it feels a little more substantial imo, which I like even though I have fairly small hands/fingers.
The taylor definitely wins in this regard, but I think if I found a martin with a similar smaller shape and cutout I would prefer it. The only problem is then I won't get the d-41 sound. I don't attribute either of their shapes to their respective brands. You can find similar shapes on both sides, it just comes down to whether or not you want the tone of a dreadnaught (better for strumming) or you are okay with just doing lead/intricate stuff. I'm fortunate that I could have what I consider to be the best of both.
If I could ONLY have one though, it would be the d-41 just because of the versatility. The taylor is just an inexplicable affair... i love her and i gotta have her but i don't know why. The d-41 is the smart option, or better yet, if you're limited on funds, try a d-35.
