when will the album format fucking die already?
When will the album format fucking die already?
when commodity production is abolished
it's been dead for over a decade but Sup Forums still clings to it for some reason
gee user you sure are #woke
>when will the book format fucking die already?
Kek I keep telling my girlfriend this cuz she keeps wasting her time writing some novels and shit and then gets mad when I say no one will buy her books
doesn't take an enlightened mind to see that streaming and singles dominate the market now
Unironically this
Don't worry, user. Albums are going to get more and more shorter. In 10 years average album length wil be 20 minutes.
artists still waste their time making albums though. why can't they just make a killer single every couple months? I feel like they would make more money that way, hyping it up every month. kinda like what Frank Ocean was doing with the blonded series, just more commercial.
>music is for money only
Because singles are for pop acts, not artists. The album tells a story, or sets a mood.
ask the record companies
it's easier to sell a single in an album than it is by itself, especially for artists trying to get popular
it is for the labels kiddo
most bands under a label release singles. I'm not saying albums need to be abolished, I just don't see why everyone making music (mainly pop stars) has to release a 50 minute album with one or two good songs.
you don't think that's gonna change now that everyone is streaming music?
in the case of pop stars yeah who cares
does anybody actually listen to their albums?
some labels give their artist space and time to create a new album between touring/ press stuff. it's obviously worthwhile for a label to be representing an acclaimed artist. but if an artist is big enough and has enough brand recognition already (taylor swift, deadmau5. foo fighters etc) then it doesnt matter if they have a great album, what matters is that they have a great single that is gonna be played over and over again on the radio. sometimes its just not worthwhile for a label to give the artist space to make a good album, sometimes it makes more sense commercially to have them tour constantly and hire a good ghost writer to make some good singles to put out under the bands name.
it's pretty much dying in kpop, just goes to show how ahead of the game they really are
Is there even a market anymore though?
If an artist cant make a full album worth listening to, the artist isn't worth listening to. Singles are numbing normie noggins.
Hopefully never. In 40 years no one is going to remember "random soundcloud trap song #348"
"Singles" have always been more popular than LPs, you absolute mongoloid.
you sound like such an idiot
>My ADHD addled ""brain"" can't listen to 30-50 minutes of music in a single sitting.
This is me. ;_;
>I'm smart if I force myself to endure 6-8 filler tracks for 2 or 3 good ones
>what matters is that they have a great single that is gonna be played over and over again on the radio.
People still listen to radio?
>Not listening to flawless albums
What acts do you listen to, you sound like peak pleb, give me some artists
>implying all albums are mostly filler
listen to better albums mate.
When will the "OP thinks like a faggot" format fucking die already?
NIGGAS, I'm just saying why does everyone have to the same shit. why is everyone making 50 minute albums consisting of 4 minute tracks like a fucking drone? where's the artistry in that? why not make a single 8 minute song like they were doing with disco?
Madvillainy is dope cuz it's like 20 tracks all under 2 minutes and each track feels like it was meant to be. DJ Screw has his 10 minute tracks. BOC had that album with only 6min tracks and a bunch of interludes. Prog rock has been doing it since the 60s. IT"S ALL FUCKING DOPE
Those albums with filler are called not good albums user
Yea you're a fucking pleb alright, everyone fucking does that already
this happens, just not in mainstream pop, where it obviously doesn't make sense. i don't know why you'd complain about something that's only a problem if you listen to shit music
also house/techno frequently content themselves with singles/eps
t. listens to trap on soundcloud
why is everyone making 50 minute albums consisting of 4 minute tracks except for everyone who doesn't
>and singles dominate the market now
>now
it's always been like that what are you talking about? are you like 14?
I'm not him but
>name something that I can call shit
Is there a name for this "tactic"
People still listen to only singles retard, ask a normie how many albums they listen to and most of the time they say they don't even listen to every song on an album, unless they REALLY like it.
