haha yes i love korn played at half speed

Korn wish they were as good as Deftones, no one respects Korn outside of nu-metal scene

No.

>implying that’s a good thing

deftones is literally just bad nu metal that pretends to be artsy in order to appeal to psuedointellectuals who think they're too profound for actual nu metal

It's funny how you show you have no idea of music in a music board
I'll correct it for you
>The Cure of metal

actually they were one of the only bands that used nu-metal elements and made it in a way it was genuinely good and then naturally they progressed and become less and less nu-metal-ish while Korn and others failed to keep relevant or good in general.

No. Not even close. If anything, Linkin Park was the American Radiohead.

"So, it's been a year since I posted this (you can see it on my profile), but I finally get to explain it.

I think Linkin Park is the American Radiohead.

Here goes:

Hybrid Theory - Pablo Honey (obviously, well, except for In the End, but that's another story, one the world will realize soon.)

Meteora - The Bends (with elements of Kid A/Amnesiac, see Breaking the Habit, Session, and Nobody's Listening)

Minutes to Midnight - OK Computer (pure art rock mixed with alt. metal, don't even try to explain otherwise, because The Little Things Give You Away, In Pieces, and Valentine's Day would fit exactly on OK Computer, and if you say not, your inner machinations ruminate like grovel in a sieve.)

A Thousand Suns - Hail to the Thief. (No matter how hard you try, no mere mortal's mind will ever begin to penetrate the rhombus cave of lilac dreams that is Kid A. In fact, Kid A is a broken album. Only one would use its pieces to scar themselves into a sanctuary of flames.)

Living Things - In Rainbows mixed with Hybrid Theory

The Hunting Party/One More Light... Packt like sardines in a crushd tin Xbox 360. With Cheetos. And a spider leg.
And a Shamwow.

Any questions?"

I don't know if I love or hate this pasta

and the only people who care about deftones other than nu metal people are indie fags who think they're too good for it but will likely call deftones a "guilty pleasure"

I was listening to this and the s/t a while back for the first time in fucking ages, like 10 years maybe, and I was really surprised by how well both of those albums aged and how dignified and removed from the whole nu-metal thing they now seem to be. If White Pony came out today people would be calling it a post-hardcore album and namedrop The Cure and 4AD goth bands while talking about it.

That said, the s/t is better.

i dont think "progressed" is the right word since everything after chi died has been aimless boring horseshit

This is actually accurate.

Chino and Carpenter actually love The Cure and all the 4AD goth bands, like Cocteau Twins and Bauhaus

Yeah, IIRC they covered If Only Tonight We Could Sleep as well.

Also, I have no idea why they decided to release the best song recorded during the s/t sessions as a B-side on a single.

I don't think s/t is better than Pony but I love it too. It's definetely underrated even by the band.

I might be a little biased because Deftones clicked with me when I was listening s/t though. SNW is another amazing album that unfortunely they rarely play songs of the album.

Koi No Yokan is one of their best albums imo. Diamond Eyes is very good too but overrated. Gore is their worst after Adrenaline.

I respect Korn and I'm not in the nu-metal scene

I like Adrenaline.
I like all their albums.

All of their albums have songs I love but Adrenaline and Gore have like 2 or 3 songs like that while the other albums all have at least 5 or 6.

...

>Adrenaline = Pablo Honey
Early stuff, kinda rough but has potential
>Around the Fur = The Bends
Tight, memorable songwriting, band progressing
>White Pony = OK Computer
Many consider it a magnum opus that will never be topped
>Kid A = self titled
Band does a complete 180 and surprises everyone who thought they knew what the band were going to do next
>B Sides and Rarities = Amnesiac
Self explanatory
skip Hail to the Thief
>Saturday Night Wrist = In Rainbows
Dreamy and beautiful, the last thing the band would do for a while and it keeps people anxious for a new release
>Diamond Eyes = The King of Limbs
Kinda awkward return with a lot of stuff needing to settle in before it can work again, although people still appreciate it
>Koi No Yokan (+ Gore?) = A Moon Shaped Pool
Another dreamy album that is well received by the public and critics

I was really into them when I was about 13 and found a ton of great 80s music from checking out artists they loved. also lot of my now favorite female musicians like PJ Harvey, Bjork, Sade etc. Then found Howlin Wolf, Dylan, Tom Waits, Patti Smith, Dirty Three etc from PJ.. Kate Bush, Radiohead and more from Bjork and so on. Not sure if I'd be so into music if not for Deftones so I got all the love for em.

This is the radiohead of black people

>no one respects Korn outside of nu-metal scene
That's false. I do and couldn't care less about numetal.
