Why is Sup Forums so autistic about Die Hard being considered a Christmas movie?

Except the entire movie takes place on Christmas and has numerous Christmas elements in the plot. Just because Santa Clause doesn't show up doesn't mean it's not a Christmas movie.

I watch Die Hard and Goodfellas yearly.

Goodfellas is more of a comfy autumn movie.

Prometheus is a great Christmas movie

the date it takes place doesn't matter, it serves no purpose. the christmas elements are few and far between. goodfellas has an entire 5min long scene dedicated to their christmas/christmas dinner, die hard has a few 30 second scenes

The whole reason the robbery takes place is because it's Christmas and the building was supposed to be empty. The fact that it's Christmas is referenced in almost every scene in one way or another.

It used to be a cool meme you could drop into conversations like 5-10 years ago. It makes you seem cool because it's not a sappy, conventional Christmas flick.

But now, everyone knows the joke, so now it's uncool to call it a Christmas movie, because the only point of calling it one in the first place was to be cool.
