I think he was, he had a sense of rhythm that was totally missing from Tony. Try some of his riffs, they are not easy, he understands timing to create a pull.

Tony's riffs are so fuckin' melodic and catchy tho... I gotta admit tho that Made In Japan is an absolute work of art, and I'd say it's probably my favourite live record of all time. I love 'em both desu.
