Er, by that I meant, fulfillment by Amazon?

I don’t think so

They’ve got pretty good feedback but I don’t want to get blindsided by sales tax or something

What style do you play and what's your guitar? Just curious

I picked it up just because I wanted to learn an instrument and over time got really interested in playing black metal, and a friend got me into this style of acoustic fingerpicked melodies that I can only describe as sort of
depressive pretty folk. Maybe it's emo. Ive a tanglewood acoustic electric that's been sitting around in my family unused, and for electric practise, jackson js-12 dinky + peavy vypr VIP 1 (this was a bad purchase). I wanna learn piano a lot now.

There's this youtube channel called Gemini Guitar that has a few videos on black metal and dark folk finger picking melodies
youtu.be/SyfklASvl6c

oh thanks so much user
I skipped to a bit in that video and some chords he was showing sounded like it fits the atmosphere I look for really well, i will have to browse for some dark folk some time

non
tele comrade but support for you both.

just got a new martin in the mail today.
the bottom strap button (metal thing you attach a strap to) is fucking missing and i don't see where it is. I broke down the box and threw it out, a manila envelope was inside w/ an extra bridge pin but wtf is this shit UGH
WHERE IS IT

I have a Squier Jagmaster. This is pretty much how I want to configure mine.

i found it goddammit. it's white and just looks like a giant bridge pin and is sticking out a bit

oh dear lord. the cirnobutts have spread from bant to mu.

its just regular finger pickin no need to add mumbo jumbo

Yellow guitars are justice

Forgot pic

>yellow guitars
>nice

need more proof.
Not disagreeing. Just proof.

how did line 6 manage to make the good effects that they did and then proceed to shit out the most awful in existence?

Yep.

Be sure not to hammer it in. Just force it as much as you comfortably can with your thumb.

What kind of martin did you get? (pic related is mine)

Yamaha Revstar Series

ESP LTD M1000

Where are you now when I need you

>cant tell whether the song I wrote is good or just not a totally unpleasant sequence of notes

Tasty.

Stash it away and listen to it in a month

Point made. Have a Yamaha RGX421D natural and a Fender American butterscotch. Not yellow like and Ibanez Gem or a LPJ though.
Carry on.

aight so I just tried out a Squier Tele at the shop today. dear lord, that tone.

would there be that much of a difference between that and a Fender? I should just buy one used then, if ever...

Baked maple neck w ebony board vs full rosewood neck?

Can't decide if I should rush to get a 2017 Music Man or hold out for the 2018s. Baked maple seems to either look nice and tastefull or FUCKING GAWDY AS ALL SHIT with little in between.

Which model was it? Personally I'd go with the squier. I toyed around with the idea of getting a tele and tried the whole range at a local store. The best one to me was the Squier Standard telecaster due to the darker pickups. Every single Fender tele sounded very brittle and lifeless in comparison.

yeah I think it was the Standard. there weren't any other labels on the headstock.
also Telecasters are smaller than I thought

haaaaa damn... I miss that guitar already

>full rosewood neck
this one hands down best value for your dosh.

It'll certainly hold value more as rosewood is phased out, but functionally how tf do the two even compare

Beginner here. I don't like other people hearing me play, so I started playing with headphones. What's odd is that I've suddenly improved because of this. Do you think it's a privacy/confidence thing or that due to the nature and "tunnel vision" (heh, tunnel hearing) of headphones I'm able to focus better? Has anyone experienced something similar?

Whenever I play with headphones I think I sound good, but when I play through the amp I realise that’s not the case

My technique has literally improved.

if its physical technique maybe youre picking up things you wouldnt normally hear, accidental brushing against strings, buzzing, etc, and youre automatically cleaning up your fingering and such to produce a better sound

I think it's that, but also might have to do with me being a perfectionist and not wanting to sound like shit to others, which just makes me anxious and sound like shit. I've got my own private little world now, it's neat. I should have started using headphones earlier.

>something similar?
Headphones made me aware of how sloppy my playing was but it did nothing more to help. (It was not until I saw myself on video that I could fix the problem.). I was also playing dry and clean. Phones unplugged allows me that bare-wall room reverb.

>Do you think it's a privacy/confidence thing
yeah p much
with guitar you always think that you suck until other people tell you that you don't

wouldn't be out of place on a Cheap Trick tour.

I've been playing for about 10 months now and have focusing a lot on barre chords. Lately though I've been noticing a pain in my fretting hand, kind of below my thumb. Its not really a sharp pain, it feels warm if that makes sense. I'm hoping its not carpal tunnel, but just in case, any tips on how to avoid this other than pressing softer with my thumb?

Do you guys mute the release of your bend during fast passages?
I think, I'm doing it but I'm not sure.

Not sure if I'm making any sense

yeah I do

>awesome $1000+ guitar
>shitty $150 amp
Never change, /gg/.

Can use anything. Punk is not a high gain-dependent genre. As long as it gets loud, it’ll work.
Steve Jones used a Les Paul, Johnny Ramone used a Mosrite with a mini humbucker, Wayne Kramer used a Strat, Joe Strummer used a tele, Greg Ginn used an Ampeg Dan Armstrong clear guitar, Johnny Zoom used a Gretsch,
Johnny Thunders used an LP special loaded with p90s, Brian James of the Damned used an SG, and Pete Shelley used a cheap-ass Woolworth’s guitar he sawed in half.

My new gear is here.
The Tiki head lock strap is good. I like the design of D'addario's lock wheel. It feels secure but has enough leeway to not make the strap feel tight.
The .88 green Dunlop picks look and function nicely. Kind of disappointed the .70 D'addario picks don't have the planet waves branding they were advertised with and just have the D'addario logo and "classic" written on them.
Shark Capo looks great and is a very secure fit, but is a little on the bulky side. Will take some getting used to.
D'addario string winding tool looks like it will do the job for me next time I need it.
All in all, not a bad £45 spend. I just need to practice and get good now. My fingerpicking is improving at least, and my beginner chords are sounding a little clearer, though my transitions need way more practice to be fluent.
For fingerpicking, I've been practising these three simple videogame tunes:
gametabs.net/playstation/final-fantasy-9/place-ill-return-to-someday/ron-cruz
gametabs.net/breath-fire/alan-and-cerl
gametabs.net/final-fantasy-x/to-zanarkand-2
I can play them almost well enough to do it without pause. A week ago I couldn't even barely play half of To Zanarkand so I'm very pleased I'm progressing. But I think I will move onto something harder to push myself to improve.
Anyone know of any good fingerpicking tunes that are maybe a little harder than those but not too overwhelming?
I feel practising fingerpicking like this is helping me improve my fingerings on multiple strings. Pushing me to stretch out a little here and there with those sneaky 2 and 5's and 7 and 4's

wheres the best place to buy guitar pedals?

Craigslist or guitarcenter

>Johnny Zoom used a Gretsch,
Billy, and he still uses a 100 watt Zoom Custom Built amp, along with a tube reverb/trem unit. Earlier he used a souped up 120w Quad Reverb.
Pic related about 1983.

What do you guys think about this rig?

...

Ugly as sin

That warm feeling IS the very start of carpal tunnel. The good news is it can be avoided if you just pay attention to how you play and hold your guitar.
First, adjust your strap so that your wrist is straight when holding the guitar to play.
Second, learn good fretting hand form. Move your thumb from on top of the neck to behind the neck. This will keep you from overstretching the tendons in your thumb and allow your other fingers more room to move better and faster.
Third, use less pressure on your fretting hand. You shouldn’t need to have a death grip to play the strings, so don’t do it. All it does is tenses up your whole arm, injures you, and makes you play worse and slower. If, however, you do need to have a vise grip to play, your guitar is probably way out of whack and you need to lower the action.

huh, so people here don't know about the best guitar ever created

God I never follow any Touhou at all since UFO I think so maybe I'm out of touch but what I remember were for some fucking reason Reimu, Marisa, and Flandre mostly depicted with pointy guitars. I dunno what's objectively considered good and bad guitar shape anymore

This is manly metal guitar bro

>old SG Systems amp
If you like it, get it.
You’ll definitely be the only one on your block with one of those.

Why are you hiding a Strat behind that shit Kramer?

Yeah it's funky and cool looking, plus the phase shifter is unique, just wondering if it's decently built and sounds good or if it's just another vintage meme

wat

What's the best pickup configuration and why?

asking for a friend

GT-1000 is BOSS.

>$999.99

>best guitar ever created
The right answer is obviously a Strat,
And yet you posted a Kramer.
So logically, you must be hiding a Strat behind the Kramer.

Was it REALLY that hard to understand for you?

Telecaster bridge, humbucker neck

what's with faggoty light colors in all new processors?

>You'd probably complain about color tv if this was the sixties.

I'd have to compare this with Fractals' AX8 to see if it is actually better or just a parallel product.
>newly built with the comprehensive Tube Logic design approach behind the acclaimed Katana
It probably sucks.

Just for fun topic but any of you have thoughts to turn your music into ways to make money and spread it at the same time? Not that I want to be a big time celebrity / music icon selling stadiums and the likes as a full time job but I always thought maybe it's pretty nice to sell music as independent artists for side jobs or at least getting feedback periodically but not too much to make it like a full time job

How is this better than a gt100? I've had mine for about a week and am loving it

>sell music for independent artists
You mean like an independent label? There's no money there. There's no money in any of it outside of touring, and even then you have to be going at in nonstop to make a liveable wage. Devin Townsend makes 60k a year.

>humbucker neck
The ONLY good position for a single coil is in the neck.

Why do you play thick/thin strings, /gg/?
Personally I like the thicker strings because I'm more of a bass player so the little strings feel too light, and I tend to overbend a lot if I'm not using THICC strings.

9's on my strat for finger stuff, 11's on my TOM's for heavier stuff, both have their place.

Heavy bottoms, light tops are best but I just started using 50s to 11s because of tuning to D standard and drop C. Gotta have a certain tightness with riffs on the bottom strings.

I just play the cheapest, generic shit available
is there really a difference from branded strings?

It's a jump forward from the gt100
soundonsound.com/news/boss-announce-gt-1000-guitar-effects-processor

NAMM is giving me GAS

>autism
FTFY

32 bit from 24 and a few new pedals is about the biggest change I see.

Well dunno much about music business scene and all that jazz but I imagine something like Nipland Comic Market artists, basically local / national art market free for all, anyone can join and try their hand selling / promoting their stuffs. Some good artists selling their new
mostly porn
stuffs maybe once a year / every two year, won't make big money but it's a nice additional side jobs. The amateur can try their hands at diving into art scenes, can learn from it as a businessman, having fun with fanmade contents, getting feedback, etc

But I dunno though if nipland is the anomaly ones in the world to have art industries that profit both big and small guys

How far up do you reckon I can safely tune my low E-string, when it's fairly high gauge (52) and I play a Jazzmaster (25.5" scale)? I'd like to tune it to F# or G.

I'm legit buy the Troublemaker tele
