That second track was fantastic, more like that?
I'm looking for more j-emo/math and post-rock, really like toe's first album but I prefer their minimalist aspect moreso than the prog aspect. Does anyone know more of this stuff that's on the minimalist side?
if you like surf/60s:
youtube.com
the band that rosenstock ripped off (just kidding but really)
sad japanese woman:
youtube.com
okay, ill post some shibuya kei
The first song has someone just banging on a single note for like 10 seconds for half of the song. The second song is the James Bond theme. I like it.
Sounds like the theme song from some cute Nintendo game.
...

Youtube recommended me, and i like
as in jeff rosenstock? no way dude. I see similarities in some of the guitar work but it feels pretty different otherwise
youtube.com
I saw this band open for shellac, I haven't seen them mentioned around here
obligatory melt-banana
I think he's making a joke about Jeff covering one of their songs.
hehe nice try all niptunes are anime ost
turns out im a dumbass bitch, ty for the info
Most of my favorite artists that were or are mainstream had only been featured in variety TV shows, not animation.
Finally, a time to post FTB
youtu.be
Here's some stuff I like
>eastern youth:Used to be pretty big on the skinhead scene on Japan during their early years, they abandoned that whole image later on.My personal recomendation is their album 地球の裏から風が吹く from 2007
youtube.com
>Number Girl:All the influential bands that helped shape the alternative music on the US during the late 80s inside a japanese blender.Their album School Girl Distortional Addict is a good place to start but don't ignore their other stuff (including the compilations)
youtube.com
>Flipper's Guitar:They sound a bit like a mix of The Stone Roses and Primal Scream, personally I like this band much more. They were one of the main acts on the Shibuya-kei scene.Gotta love the God Only Knows sample on their last album.
youtube.com
>神聖かまってちゃん (Shinsei Kamattechan):Shoegaze vibes on the synths and keys mostly,pitch-shifting and delay on vocals, lots of digital manipulation and probably one of the most unique bands out there.Sadly they seemed to peak on their first album but great stuff still.
youtube.com
>Coaltar of the Deepers:Shoegaze and Death Metal are the best way to describe them.I wish I had more to say but I only heard one of their albums.
Oops, put the last one twice.
heres some stuff, tried to avoid the popular memes
Té - instrumental post/math rock
youtube.com
Envy - post-rock / screamo / post-hardcore
youtube.com
Itsue - shoegaze, female vocals
youtube.com
Kamomekamome - hardcore, also probably my favorite jap vocalist.
youtube.com
jizue - jap nu-jazz
youtube.com
X-japan - visual kei / 80s glam / power metal , "the last live" is better then most cd releases imo.
youtube.com
>city pop
I don't know what that is. Is it this?
Do you like Tokusatsu?
It has Narasaki from Coaltar on guitar.
youtube.com
Never heard of them before!
Thanks a lot user!
Thank you
NP, if you like it check out Kinniku Shoujo-tai, the band where the vocalist Kenji and keyboardist Eddy come from.

Any Japanese industrial? Looking for stuff that doesn't sound like GPKISM or Velvet Eden which are more Darkwave.
More like this, even if its EBM.
>not posting akane
Thats really fucking good.
I guess you already know of Chu Ishikawa, but just in case

I saw them live in Buenos Aires, was the last exciting rock show I went (2015 I think). Might be the greatest ever post-rock band. Very contemplative, melodic and high on emotions, with a bigger-than-the-sky sound and dynamics. Plus, the drummer is excellent. Until him I did never realized how important the cymbals are in post-rock. Playing live he's much groovier than in the albums, a thing I'd never expect.
The albums recorded by Steve Albini are surely their peak and I'd say
>1. You are there
>2. Hymn to the Immortal Wind
>3. Walking Cloud...
Then, For My Parents and Gone are good. I found the two last one a little tiring on the formula though
I just found out that they came to BsAs not too long ago, as well as Acid Mothers Temple (this I would have been interested in seeing live).
How was the Mono audience?
youtube.com
always liked these ol' surfer boys
bryter rayter?
>Chu Ishikawa
Yeah, I've known him from Tetsou. I haven't heard his music outside of films though.
Finding industrial music from Japan isn't easy.
I like how this sounds except for the vocals.
youtube.com
good shit, always preferred this album
The gig was at Niceto, it was crowded. Sadly, there were a lot of posh photographers on the best spots, along with otaku metalheads and a whole assortment of tight-ass weeboos, all of them bolted to the floor.
It was a shame, because the band was on fire that night, with a solid and balanced setlist, and things got groovy enough if not to dance, to "organically move" a little
bumping toe, but im more into the prog aspect personally
Yeah there is an endless list of noise industrial, but there aren't that many industrial music acts.
I just remembered Aural Vampire and Suppurate System. But I wish there were more pure industrial artists like Ishikawa.
did you go to see acid mothers temple too?
I guess I'm not surprised about the posh and the weebs. What age demographic by the way? Were there any people above 30?
Any japanese people?

How is it that 5 years ago most people in this thread would post experimental shit and the weirder end of the new wave scene, whereas now it's predominantly city pop and lightweight pleb jazz?
i'd post more but i don't want to click 50 pictures of cars and have it tell me i "typed" it wrong

Man, you're not kidding. I like it but seriously, The Quizmaster is like a straight up mashup of Loaded and the 7" version of Come Together. Even uses the same gospel backing lyric.
Name a track more hypnotizing.
Protip: you can't.

And if you're into Boredoms, check out Eye and Yoshimi P's side project, UFO Or Die.
