I guess you can say it's the endgame of where the band had slowly been heading since OK Computer in terms of genre synthesis. Personally though, I prefer their more neurotic stuff around the turn of the millennium as well as I feel like A Moon Shaped Pool is a bold step forward from this album, trading in the tight pop appeal for something a bit more sprawling and dreamlike in nature. I dunno, In Rainbows is pitch perfect pop but that's just not as interesting to me as something a bit messier, I suppose.
