Rare footage of a drunk Joanna Newsom

m.youtube.com/watch?v=LA4nALCKLMw

The interview footage starts at 1:34. Consensus is she was blasted on Czech absinthe. This was recorded very early in her career and is very rare footage.

Be nice to my wife, she’s doing her best

I had on idea people get drunk.
> had real absinthe once, just made me feel fuzzy and giddy

Was it Czech absinthe? That shit is very different from French/Swiss absinthe.

cringe.
who told her it's cute to act like a toddler?

>consensus is
sauce on that?

Also even if she's hammered she's still got it pretty together.
would drink said absinthe with/10

The Waldorf School her hippy parents sent her to.

Czech absinthe is mostly garbage made with who knows what ingredients. It's not anything like the French stuff.

Maybe czech or French, it was about 7 years ago.. All I can remember is the way felt.

waifufags love neotenic emotionally arrested osteoporotic dependent-nugget-tier eurasian womanchildren so probably them

How did you manage to cram so many buzzwords together and still make a semi-functioning sentence?

How virgin can you get

Wait who is the virgin in this context?

Obviously the guy who's never seen a drunk person and thinks they're deliberately "acting like a toddler"

In fairness, Jo did act like that early in her career drunk or not.

K

makes sense

>ideas are okay but feelings are hard difficult tome to articulate...

I miss the vulnerable, Milk Eyed Mender Joanna, the Joanna that admitted to crying all day having a hard time getting out of bed, the Joanna that drank whiskey during recording sessions and slept fitfully if at all.

She's in a much better place now mentally but it makes her less interesting.

She styled herself that way for her first album which she didn't even expect to sell that well. I don't think she was currying favor with waifu-fags.

joanna newsom sucks

Prove it

True. She was VERY different back then.

Yep. I honestly can't tell if she was playing a character then, or is playing a character now.

Consider this is what she was like at 18:

"I was a completely different person before I went to the river, and a completely different person after,” Newsom says. When she first got back the girl was a total wreck. She would start crying when she woke up and not quit until she slept. She stopped going to school. She’d pick up the local paper, and read a headline like “Man Dies in Car Crash,” and then the crash would be in her mind, and the man’s bloody crumbled body, and his pain and dread and fearful exit from this world. “None of the calluses or borders or walls we put up to protect ourselves from going absolutely insane while experiencing life – none of those stood anymore. They had been worn completely away. I was like infantile and dysfunctional, a weepy, drunk mess.”

There are women who act this way consciously or otherwise because they appeal to a certain emotionallly undeveloped breed of manchild rampant on Sup Forums among other places. It's a brand but it's also an aesthetic for plenty of people.

so they like girls with daddy fetishes

>people (women, no less) behave a certain way in order to APPEAL to dysfunctional people who hang out on Sup Forums
user, what does the Czech absinthe you clearly must be drinking taste like?

the only time what he's saying would make sense is if he were talking about some online camwhore or twitch personality (think britney venti, lauren southern, etc) because they could make money off desperate male virgins. someone like joanna newsom or a legit musician though or some girl not trying to make betabucks it's absurd to think that

If you want to understand why Joanna was the way she was (it has nothing to do with sex appeal), consider this:

>raised in isolated mountain town in California by hippy parents that made every effort to shield her from the world
>violence and aggressive music were banned from the household, as were all forms of pop culture.
>is sent to a Waldorf school, where each student is encouraged to craft their own subjective reality which teachers do not challenge.
>Waldorfs also ban all modern technology and culture
>socialized only with her Waldorf school friends and the music geeks at Lark Camp in Northern California
>her home life is incredibly stable and all her siblings are musically gifted and highly intelligent
>her parents are rich, so no real hardship
>she was allowed to drink and do drugs from a youngish age to "explore her mind"

When she was giving that interview, on her first tour, she had the life experience of what, an eight year old? Maybe a little higher? Her world was basically a land of sunshine and gentleness.

I'm not sure if this is a good or bad method of parenting because they did end up with a musical genius all things considered.

Imo without that style of parenting Joanna would be a very respected classical harpist with no career as a songwriter and no broad notoriety.

Why?

Because only such an upbringing could instill the almost pathological optimism and self confidence needed for her to try singing with that early voice of hers in front of crowds and on tape.
