Top 3 Films of year?

here are mine:
- Snowden
- Doctor Strange
- 10 Cloverfield Lane

Suicide Squad
Nocturnal Animals
X-Men Apocalypse

Der Bunker
Der Nachtmahr

not sure what else.
what a mediocre year.

>Nocturnal Animals

it fucking sucked though. its literally shit.

Arrival
Neon
High Rise

>saw less films this year than any previous

Nice Guys
La la land
The Witch

>Hacksaw Ridge
>Arrival
>Swiss Army Man

>The Neon Demon
>The nice guys
>Hacksaw Ridge

I want to rape Newt

Oh, you're right! Neon Demon did come out this year, that's my third pick.

Daily Reminder that if you have ANY capeshit in your top 3 - and this is being generous, it should be top 10 - you need to leave this board forever.

>Silence
>Lala Land
>The Nice Guys

This is Chris Stuckmann's. He has better taste than most of you, you should be embarrassed.

Agreed, but I will say again that BVS was a positive surprise. Not band for a comic book movie.

You mean except for the sophisticated German poster?

I wish the jews would stop casting subhuman fucking anglos in all their movies. Who wants to pay $15 to look at THIS?

Suicide Squad: Extended Cut
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice: Ultimate Edition
Deadpool

>Arrival
>The Neon Demon
>Hell or High Water
Guilty pleasure - Rogue One

>Guilty pleasure
AKA: The movie that I liked the best but want to look smart so I can't admit it

>The Neon Demon
>Literally nothing happens until the ending of the entire pointless movie

Fuck that movie and everyone hyping it up.
It's shit, the acting is shit, the story is shit, the plot is shit, the pacing is fucking slow as fucking shit, and the fucking ending is stupid as fucking shit.

lol

You don't belong on a film board if you can't handle a film that even slightly out of the box

From a certain point of view. But you can't deny that it was one of the most visually stunning movies of the year. Not to mention great soundtrack. NWR's films are not about to be loved and understood completely, because he is an autist, but they still can be enjoyable. You just should not take them too seriously.

Maybe he just shouldn't watch them if he can't comprehend them. ND is a beautiful study of how we deal with beauty, how could one enjoy it without taking it seriously?

>Nocturnal Animals
>Everybody Wants
Uhh maybe Certain Women or the Neon Demon, but I didn't think they were that good. Even Everybody Wants Some is just Linklater ripping himself off. 2016's been a shit year for films really

>Some
FUCKING FUCK

The only movie released this year that I saw and didn't actively dislike was Whit Stilman's "Love and Friendship," and my reaction that was tepid.

Not a great year for film.

>fuck shit fuck shit shit fuck shit

Yes, very good arguments user

After Only God Forgives you can't take NWR seriously actually. Plus the theme of beauty is so beaten up that there is literally nothing to talk about. All the messages about beauty are literally given verbally in The Neon Demon. To me it was sort of black comedy/horror. But it was extremely pleasent to watch. Visual storytelling which was used so great to develop characters and great score made this one. But really this is not the movie in which you should find a deeper sense. When the director literally said "I have a 16 year old girl inside of me, i tried to show it", you just cant.

hacksaw ridge (9/10)
zootopia (7/10)

everything else was shit

>Snowden
>le "I did it because I saw Clapper lying about NSA surveillance; ignore that I started removing unrelated DOD classified material months before the PRISM hearings; also ignore my friend Julian Assange's ties to the FSB" man

There wasn't three good films this year.

Only Knight of Cups and Cemetery of Splendor were good but they were released in film festivals in 2015 so they're not even 2016 films despite getting theater release this year.

why? BvS was kino for adults
adults read comics too

MCU is for kids though

As for tv shows, "The Night Of" was probably the best, imo. The second season of "Narcos" was pretty gud. "Stranger Things" were pretty mediocre. Watching "The Young Pope" now, feels like some discount "House of Cards", though Jude Law is great. Not a very good year for k i n o, I suppose.

what a superb goof

Huh, I never saw a film that dealt with the phenomenon of beauty on that level, plus, no, the messages about beauty weren't delivered verbally. Each of the characters represents a different way in which we behave towards beautiful people - the photographer fashioning her into a beautiful object, the clerk throatraping her, the industry man simply utilizing her as a part of his artwork, Dean projecting onto her his ideal of personality and venting his anger on the girl nextdoor after not being able to have her, Ruby pretending to be her friend with the intention of getting her into bed - those are not words, those are actions. The bdsm show scene in which we see all our women characters literally worshipping the anonymous restrained body certainly wasn't verbal. I don't think you give the movie enough credit. I watch lots of films and I have never seen one that deals with beauty so poignantly, emically and most of all: exclusively. Everything in this film is about beauty, it does not have a plot, a setting or character that does not tie in with its theme. Although I'm not sure about some of the more visual scenes especially toward the end in this context, I must admit - Not a perfect film but better and more thought out than you give it credit for. I only watched OGF once when it came out, I agree that one was kind of weak. Might change my mind, if I were to rewatch it.

bet you havent watched even 30 films from this year lil embryo

>30 movies
>20 of them are capeshit

Bet you watched the Star Wars and Harry Potter spinoffs, yet you call me a little embryo.

I've seen almost exactly 34 and only 2 were worth it and were both fairly popular films anyways. Nufilms suck.

fact no exceptions

>hand over his mouth

Literally Liberal Cuck: The Hand Gesture

- Shin Goji
- BvS ultimate cut
- Kubo and the 2 strings

>10 cloverfield lane after that ending

thanks for sharing with everyone your shit taste

Moonlight
La La land
Arrival

>BvS
pic related
>Kubo
judged by "kids' movie" metrics, it was a masterpiece, but judged by normal metrics, it was only ok.

the unspoken secret (not so much these days, though) is that comic books and comic book films are no longer for kids. they're for 20-40 year olds who never grew the fuck up.

>Knight of Cups
>good

It was an "avant-garde" bullshit film to jerk Hollywood off. It wasn't good at all you pseud.

Strictly 2016 released
La Mort de Louis XIV
Sing Street
Homo Sapiens

And Neon Demon, just because Elle is cute!

I will praise anything done in stop motion, I have no excuse for BvS tho

If this is serious wow that is a very patrician list for YouTube, I really need to check out Silence. Nice Guys wasn't for me as I am a bit too religious for that one. La La Land was absolutely beautiful.

Compared to his 2015 list and Jahns this is actually patrician.

>to jerk Hollywood off.
Yes, that's why it's so pessimistic, negative about Hollywood life and that's why Malick is also heavily against such materialistic life.

Good reading skills you have
>It wasn't good at all!11!!
Oh please dissect what was so bad about it.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople
Moonlight
third one is tough..i guess Deadpool?

la la land, arrival, wilderpeople

Batman v Superman
Batman v Superman
Batman v Superman

>Nice Guys wasn't for me as I am a bit too religious for that one

BvS
The Witch
Neon Demon

>>Stop liking what I don't like!!

More like calling out utterly shit taste and low film IQ

That's a nice opinion you have there.

So many pleb bullshit in here. Jesus christ.

Mine as of now:

Manchester-by-the-Sea
Kate Plays Christine
O.J. Made in America

Very hyped for Aquarius, Toni Erdmann, and Silence

There are choices that are respectable, and those that are simply filth. This is a FILM board, not a board for those with a casual taste in movies, it's for those with a real interest in film.

hell or high water
la la land
arrival

Cameraperson
Cemetery of Splendor
Manchester by the Sea

good taste

how did you see Cameraperson? did you catch it at a festival? I am very eager to see it.

Good year for documentaries. Fire at Sea, OJ Made in America, The Other Side, and Kate Plays Christine are all amazing. Cameraperson sounds like it might top them all though.

it ran for two weeks at my closest landmark theatre

Midnight Special
The Nice Guys
Hell or High Water

made in america was great

Damn, that's lucky, I didn't think it would have appeared in a chain like that.

I've been considering just pre ordering the Criterion blind but I am going to try to wait I guess.

One of the most compelling movies of the year easily. I watched it in one sitting and it flew by.

if you're into the essay films of marker or mekas, you'll dig it

>10 Cloverfield Lane
>The Witch
>Hell or High Water

Mekas is a major blind spot for me. I really like the Marker stuff I've seen though. I think my favourite essay film is Los Angeles Plays Itself. Anyway, I'm confident I'll be a pretty big fan.

another shit year for movies.

Arrival
Doctor Strange
Nocturnal Animals

>Civil War
>Rogue One
>Snoopy, I guess.

I missed Arrival, I guess I would have liked that one.

Snowden
Arrival
Civil War

>cloverfield lane

>all that shit

>being a faggot with shit taste like la la land and the nice guys
>2015 film

>good
>meme movie
>meme movie

muh amy adams

>la la land
>the nice guys
its shit

>10 cloverfield lane
Top kek

>Popstar
>The Nice Guys
>Deadpool
Deadpool is a "holy fuck I can't think of anything else that came out this year that i remotely wanted to see and i need a 3rd film for my list" pick

>Colonia 8/10
>Sully 7/10
>The Nice Guys 6/10

Rogue One
Captain America: Civil War
Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition

Popstar
Sing Street
Green Room

>nigga fuck around n' got a triple double

Newfag

Nice trips dubfag

Lubs me dat

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice
VVitch
The Lobster

Green Room
The Handmaiden
Swiss Army Man

From what I've seen so far:
>Arrival
>The Witch
>Captain America Civil War

My list will definitely change as many of the oscar type films haven't come out here yet.

Arrival
Zootopia
Moana

Disney, once again, slayed it this year.

>Snowden

I don't give a fuck if it's a "based on a true story" film. This film was desperately in need of a car chase, some element of risk, some excitement.

What sort of spy film doesn't have a car chase? Fucking shithouse, boring film 2/10.

No particular order:
>Nocturnal Animals
>Arrival
>VVitch
>La La Land
>Youth
>Nice Guys

Some good films this year although lots of pretty shit big budget films desu

>Le Subhuman Le Anglo meme
>Even tho he posts a bunch of Celtic people that he probably worships and thinks he's a magical Celt elf
Those are Celts, it's what they look like you retarded dick flap.

Skiptrace
London Has Fallen
Moonlight

- Zootopia
- Rouge One
- Deadpool

I really want to see Arrival and it might change my list when i get to see it

>Some good films this year although lots of pretty shit big budget films desu
I swear Fantastic Beasts was the sole good film with a budget over $100 million. Zootopia and Rogue One were fine too I guess.

>that pic

>Warcraft
>Rogue One
>Assassin's Creed

yes I'm a pleb

Why did they replace Ray Velcoro with Edward Scissorhands? For fuck sake

Haven't found the proper time to watch movies this year. I'll get back to it soon though. (Any recs are welcomed, especially comedies).

>Snowden, not moonlight
>Dr. Strange, not Arrival
>10 cloverfield lane, not the vvitch

Remain a pleb you rogue one fanatic.
