Do you have a source for that? I'd be very surprised to see him expressing anything stronger than vague non-committal appreciation. That being his relationship to free jazz as a musician.

Ornette is definitely worth that user's time tho. More cause if they like the sorts of weird jagged rhythms and dissonant chords Monk uses, he'd probably dig Shape of Jazz to Come.

In his autobiography I think he spent most of a chapter talking about him. Given his more orthodox-jazz tendencies I was surprised.
