i wrote it, well i did the actual writing and submitting, it was something me and a bunch of other people joked about for awhile and we had bits and pieces we used to say or email to each other. I was the one that decided to nut up and write out the whole plot and character arcs etc. and submit it

Is master scene format the way to go to have a spec script get bought by a studio? I got the Hollywood Standard book to learn more about proper screenplay formatting but it pushes a lot of camera direction which, I've also read, is not a good idea to include when you're an unknown.

when you are known, i'd say yeah. but honestly if your script is good enough to be options its not like the buyers will be like "this guy didn't include camera directions, bin it" And they aren't going to be used in the actual film, and most likely will not be there once they get another person to rewrite your screenplay
