Technically, early '04 but fits the vibe. Probably the only time chicano/tejano rock was ever in the US mainstream outside of "La Bamba".

Like the most recent iteration of "La Bamba" (Los Lobos covered it in '87 for a movie soundtrack( this song was a hit on Mainstream Top 40, Adult Alternative, Adult Contemporary, and Country radio (shockingly), but never crossed over to the rock stations like La Bamba did (because the rock stations in the early 00s were nothing but post-grunge, nu metal, pop punk, and radio-emo).
