The Red Balloon.

>Miles Teller missed out on this because he went for the dollaroos

It's not the best movie ever but easily one of the best this year. Only problem I have with it is a few plotholes, but other than that I loved it.

Just thinking about KoC gets my dick hard.

LLL is still a super charming movie. Pretty short too, wouldn't mind popping it in on a rainy day.

I can't OP, I'm sorry.

Frozen.

The hollywood self referential movies are used by the academy to jerk off too. It's been done to death and no one wants to see them anymore. The songs are forgettable. The characters are undeveloped. The love story is bland as fuck. The dancing is stiff. The chemistry between the leads is non existent. Its a terrible movie.

Manchester by the sea

>what kind of poster you want
>End of Evangelion my shit up
>say no more

I also forgot to say it wasn't very funny.

time to kill yourself

No (You)

Batman v Superman

Not even memeing. La La Land is cringy numalecore.

That song at the audition had me jumping off my seat.

Fucking masterpiece.

fuck off faggots

this is the true greatest movie of 2016

Shin Godzilla was the best movie of the year

I saw La La Land today. I enjoyed it, but Whiplash was better. Manchester by the Sea was better. Moonlight was better. For a musical, it had pretty forgettable music. "City of Stars" and the recurring piano piece that Gosling plays are the only two that made an impression on me. Will roll my eyes if it wins Best Picture. Chazelle is very skilled though.

It also makes me sad to watch Emma Stone and be constantly reminded of how much she resembles my ex.

not better than La La Land

>Moonlight is better

>rehashed Jap garbage is better than rehashed Hollywood garbage
At last I truly see.

>For a musical, it had pretty forgettable music.
C'mon, the audition song (The Fools Who Dream) was breathtaking, and the opening song (Another Day of Sun) were pretty remarkable too.

I agree they are not so great singers, but their acting and emotion in the songs was fantastic. It cared much more about aspects other than the music, something I find lacking in most musicals, and the reason why it's now my favorite of the whole genre.

also
>Manchester by the Sea is better
kek

Their singing not being spectacular doesn't bother me, it was the music and lyrics that didn't really impress me. The opening number was great, but that was due to the staging and choreography, not the song itself. As I said, I liked the movie, but it didn't blow me away. Stone and Gosling were very charming, the costumes and sets were great, Chazelle is obviously really talented behind the camera, but the script was pretty weak.

>forgettable music

Huh, it's weird then that I really like listening to "Another Day of Sun," "Someone In The Crowd," and "Epilogue" ever since I watched it.

>that feel when everything gets loud and gets quiet for a bit to become an explosion of wonder again in "Someone In The Crowd."

Maybe my expectations for memorable music are too high after being obsessed with Hamilton for most of 2016.

Elle
Also fuck off

If it helps you appreciate the movie even more, it was actually shot on film in CinemaScope. So all of those elaborate and masterfully composed camera movements during choreographies were done with a huge camera and without seeing the footage.

In the end of Someone in the Crowd, when she's singing by herself, that last sad note at the end of "A somewhere that's just waiting to be _found_." That shit was so powerful, it's like the first part of the movie you see her doubting herself, and it's conveyed so discreetly.

Whiplash

This was a shit film. Get some taste
