i remember reading a segment of a book about 12 years ago, outlining in a lot of detail about how hull was the worst city in the whole country.

there is no glamour.
i married a northern girl.
her father was a bus driver.
my father retired at 45.
she was happy to move south. much like almost every educated person. don't get me wrong, there are reasons to move north when you're older, but there is nothing for anyone below the age 30 if you're of any intellect or ambition.
so what you're confirming is that you're disproving OP.
Not an argument
...
Are you on crack? There's plenty of nice and booming cities in the north. Leeds is definitely one of the biggest. Beautiful countryside, far less money to shell out, way less crowded and lots of really nice historical places like York and Durham. You southerners, you're just mad that North Yorkshire nicked most beautiful county from Kent.
i don't think people use the term butthurt any more, but you couldn't be projecting more butthurt if you tried, gentlemen.
t. americans with no clue
Name 5 (Five) good bands from wherever the fuck you're from
Sorry but rochdale is the single most disgusting crust on the country
>but there is nothing for anyone below the age 30 if you're of any intellect or ambition.
sounds like the place for me
I'm from Manchester you fucking annoying cunt
you're not wrong about historic beauty and the countryside appeal, but my point is there is no cultural relevance. no young, educated person wants to be trapped there at 21. maybe i'm disregarding some more fashionable places, but my point is still somewhat true.
take local music scenes, and also think about where most decent (smaller) bands chose to stop. brighton, london, random towns in the south, and maybe manchester or liverpool.
stop baiting you spaz
well i'm from london.
so.
yeah.
Yeah I see your point but I still much prefer living in the north. I live close to Leeds which is pretty good for live music though. I just couldn't put up with how crowded the south feels. I like my drive to work through the arse end of nowhere.
Aciiiiiieeed
Indeed.
Reading Morrissey Autobiography at the moment.
It has to do with the constant oppression ofanything vaguely artistic in the early 70's late 60's.
Self-expression was something condemned whilst not specifically just in Manchester (as he points out it was like this everywhere in the UK).
But Manchester was definitely one of the most oppressive cities for self-expression.
Hull's underated desu

I live in Hull and have worked in many cities up and down the country...it's really not as bad as people think. Though every band here can't help but have a punky/shoegaze edge to them music scene here is shite compared to a few years ago
I just mentioned it because im a fan of pork recordings and all their output
and david firth of course
No, you're thinking of Luton and the surrounding towns.
Nah.
