ARCA this week?

GT300 BOP for the Suzuka race was updated a couple of days ago
supergtworld.wordpress.com/2017/08/14/46th-international-suzuka-1000km-bop-tables/

Interesting to note that this is another series where the SRO handles the GT3 BOP, so the tracks below all use the same BOP as the SRO classifies them as Class B, whatever that means

Suzuka
Buriram (Chang International)
Sepang
VIR
Road America
Mosport (CTMP)
Paul Ricard
Spa

I listed it in the schedule but looks like it will be on tape delay

reeee

nooooo
I need my Road America ARCA brakes

fuck the fia fuck the aco fuck the sro
fuck gt3 too

I'm tired of reading this book, every chapter is the same.

If those are class b, than is it class a or c to denote all the shitty chicanes & hairpins tracks (zolder, gilles, etc)?

Class A
Fuji
Monza
Bathurst

Class C
Barber
COTA
Mid Ohio
Barcelona
Misano
Burger King GP
Portimão
Silverstone
Budapest

Class D
Laguna Seca
Long Beach
Sonoma
St. Petersburg
Lime Rock Chicane
Baku
Brands Hatch
Moscow
Nogaro
Zolder
Burger King Sprint

Theres also a special classification for circuits located at high altitudes where BOP is handled on a circuit-by-circuit basis. Currently I only know of two

Utah Motorsports Park (Miller)
Mexico City

Smol windtunnel used by Mooncraft, the mad cunts that ran the Not-DaytonaPrototype Shiden and now run the Lotus Evora in GT300

is scale model wind tunnel testing like that actually worthwhile?

Yes, otherwise they wouldn't do it.
>american education

It can't be all that conclusive though.
Do solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations simply just scale up proportional to system size?

Literally all the FIA has to do is ban front dive planes and restrict the front splitter to a certain size and shape.

Who else here /sip/ for Krut's career here?

>bringing /sip/ here

no

NASCAR racing is /sip/ racing user. Just admit it.

The tl/dr (because most of this shit flies over my head) is that while the figures when adjusted for full scale might be a bit innacurate, the trends are accurate.

Here you can see Yoshi Suzuka, one of the madmen behind the Nissan GTP cars, play around with his mini wind tunnel

youtube.com/watch?v=1V_A1rsLsfs

He had an old video where he explained in more detail how it worked but its basically a bunch of precision weight balances placed under each wheel. This is a more advanced version of the one he detailed in the past but the principle is the same.

He's got some cool videos in his channel.

Have there ever been any road cars that utilize underbody Downforce?

Speaking of cool videos

youtube.com/watch?v=A1u4aRXJFkI

Proper good shit right here. Grab some food and sit down

yeah, so from the standpoint of measurement and precision, a scale model wind tunnel gives an estimate of reality and only an estimate
Furthermore, it's only as good as we can map the scale model wind tunnel result to full scale reality which isn't very good considering the non-linear nature of fluid dynamics.
That's a speculative sort of science.

Nothing is carved in stone outside of HPC fluid dynamics simulations and actual full scale wind tunnel testing.
Everything else is just a foundation for educated guesses.

call me American educated again nigger. Go ahead

The idea behind it is to make wind tunnel testing more accessible. The big ballers wont stop using supercomputers or full scale wind tunnels but plebs like myself or a small tuning shop can use that kind of stuff to know which wing design will give them more downforce instead of making a completely wild guess.

The Saleen S7

>The body of the car, made entirely from carbon fiber, incorporates the use of scoops, spoilers, and other aerodynamic features to create split-channel airflow throughout the car, and at 160 miles per hour (257 km/h), the car creates its own weight in downforce

Neat.
A shame it never really made it to production.

Some reading material with graphs n shit

suzukaracing.com/Corelation%20test.pdf

>graphs n shit
I appreciate this post

Every Ferrari for like 2 decades. The 360GTs with ACO legal diffusers mounted underneath the tunnels were the toppest kek.

Suzuka 10 Hours has a date and a promo video now

youtube.com/watch?v=fQdOElV7QJE

Someone looks less than thrilled about this

Why is the IndyCar race so fucking late

because it's a Saturday night short track race?

>1.25 mile
>short track

>luthi signed to marc vds in motogp for 2018
>contract stipulated he's not allowed to beat franco in moto2 this year

Augusto Farfus leads the whito piggus assault on the Suzuka 1000km

That would be instantaneous to accomplish, simple to enforce, and cost next to nothing.

It'll never happen.

prototypes are FUCKING UGLY

dumb ugly finned beasts

...

Very high potential of rain so it might end up a shitshow where most teams start and park because they can't afford to buy the wet tires anyway.

Xfinity should be fine as long as there's no lightning within the 8 mile radius of the track. Forecasts are all calling rain for most of the day on Sunday but split on lightning.

but muh brand identity

the legacy of Audi has left us in a dark place

it's about time for something in the spirit of GTP to make a comeback

hmmmm i think i have an idea

if only DP were fast

let them have 700hp and they will be

More memes

sick Hulu throwback

how contrived

>luthi instead of alex marquez
Kek
Also Nakagami to LCR next year

2 and the 43. the rest shouldnt fucking bother

I like Danica's but it really should have been the 88

Raising the ride height would probably be the easiest though wouldnt it? In VLN they have a higher mandatory ground clearance and enforced it during the 24h with a sensor on pit entry the cars have to drive over (sensor is not a viable solution here ofc)

>/sip/

Fuck off with this stupid cancer.

C+ for effort but bad OP.

Series @ Tracks; Series @ Tracks

>news

Weekday, Month Day
>ABC Session 0800 ET/1200 UTC
>XYZ Race [name of race] (length in time or laps) 1200 ET/1600 UTC

You get 2000 letters in OP, don't include useless shit like all the practice events of minor series that aren't televised unless hardly anything is happening that weekend and you have the room. Don't include tracks inside the events because that should be understood from the first line of OP. Trying to read your schedule is an eyesore.

>Max Chilton hits someone on his first pit out of Practice 1 at Gateway

Having a good time here lads.

Practice is probably live now, I'm here.

That's a pretty nice view, being able to see pretty much the whole track. That's another reason why Michigan was nice, you could see clear across the whole thing in the stands.

I'm sitting where my seats are for the race Tomorrow.
It's a great view and turn 1 is where all passes will happen basically.

>being able to see pretty much the whole track
Doesn't that apply to nearly every oval outside of the first rows of seats?

>tfw might miss the race tomorrow

Not really, especially not indianapolis which is my closest track

I also talked for a few minutes with Robin Miller and he had his usual talking points. Great guy though.
Don't do it user, come see it.

Fucking DABRHIS

I'd expect Indy to be the worst their is

You're free to do it next week

>Jeffrey retweeted a "Thresa's going to sue" joke
>Dale Jr liked it

kek was had.

DiRedditito's Bobby Allison throwback is breddy gud as well.

Dale is quickly running out of fucks to give. I bet he wont stop shitposting next year

good reading thanks.
Never studied fluid dynamics in detail for my degrees. Just touched on it.

RAIN

indy qual is live

>another small Indycar oval where they are flat the entire way around

how do they keep fucking this up?

they're not flat out the entire lap around gateway.

They're not flat.
They shift down twice and lift which gives the illusion of being flat in sound, but I'm here at the track, they're not flat.

how are the concessions? and if doesn't believe you, here's a helm cam of hinchtown during practice in which you can clearly observe him lifting and shifing going into t1/2

youtube.com/watch?v=lW6FabxfuKg

you should have told him to stop by here

FUCKING POWER

Something that doesn't seem to carry over tv is how loud the downshifts are.
There's a really loud backfire *pop*

Power went last, it cooled off a ton here, of course he was going to take pole.

Will Power is and always has been /ourguy/

I hate u

Really?

What the fuck are you on about?

Why the fuck did you post a fucking timezone converter?

So people who don't live in America know when the race starts, so they can watch it.
Do you realise that the world exists outside of America?

>being an ignorant American

If they want to know they can figure it out on their own, they don't need to be spoonfed. If they can't calculate their time from the UTC time in the OP they have some serious issues.
Why don't you post ones for all the other races this weekend too while you're at it?

why you heff to be mad?

>try to help people watch a race
>have to defend myself to sperglords

And people wonder why no one posts in motorsport general...
