Right after November i am going to live with my uncle in Finland for a few months. My parents are Finnish but haven't taught me ANY Finnish as a kid which pisses me off.
I'll be going to a northern part called Parkua (I think?) he doesn't live in the town but near that little area really really far from anything. His English is shit, but i wanted to learn Finnish anyways so i'll learn a bit before going.
People that live in "rural" or non-populated areas of Finland; What the fuck am i getting myself into? What should i expect?
Just google mapped the place. Literally in the middle of fucking nowhere. What the hell am i doing.
a-at least it'll be cozy right?
Bentley Walker
On google earth it looks like there is nothing there.
Cameron Young
Visit only a traditional sauna without any chimney. You will become a man.
Kayden Ward
Maybe but 15min drive to Kajaani. It's not that bad
Ryder Gonzalez
It's even worse. Kajaani is objectively the ugliest "city" in Finland
Luis Lee
I was referring to this >People that live in "rural" or non-populated areas of Finland; It's not non-populated area if there's Sotkamo and Kajaani that close
Jason Cruz
I hope you like nature. There isn't much else in northern Finland.
Aiden Johnson
booze and drugs
Oliver Russell
does he have internet ?
Jack Cox
you can ryybs and narcs there
Owen Reyes
4g prepaid costs like 10€ he'll be fine.
Nicholas Bell
Not sure, didn't ask. True, but him and i will be working i'm assuming. He lives alone as well.
The house is rather nice, looks like Northern Michigan (Where i am from)
Blake Hill
He looks like the type. Whats the popular poison in Finland?
Dylan Allen
subutex and lasol
Jayden Evans
life
Alexander Morris
:( Never heard of it.
How much snow you guys get?
Jayden Bailey
On ice stages. Look up Anthony Bourdain in Finland
Sane applies to you OP. If heblives in Lapland, he's most likely either a Sami and fucking alcoholic chink, ot he's a finn and fucking hates samis. You should prepare for being around nothing with nothing to do other than, sleeping, drinking. Unless he puts you work then you wont get bored. There are a lot of empty roads especially night time so you can practise snow road drifting.
Ian Myers
Very much. Prepare for snow jobs ie clearing yards and roads from snow
Hudson Jones
He is putting me to work around his house. I think he has some decent money, but not entirely sure. House is larger from what i have seen on Google Maps.
Will i even be able to drive? Will a US license work in Finland? Also how will the police come if there is some sort of emergency? Seeing as it's not the most populous place.
My mother warned me about his drinking, so that is already off the list of things to do.
John Peterson
>What should i expect? Horses, arrow and blood. Don't forget to pay respect to the Khan
Alexander Cooper
>Seeing as it's not the most populous place. Closest police station, hospital etc are 20km away. Heck there's even a military base. You'll be fine
Luis Adams
I suppose. What about the driving thing though? Isn't it illegal to drift or does no one care?
Eli Thompson
If you drive around far from towns or villages there wont be cops to check your licence. But you should drink with your uncle. It is a great way of bonding and will help you of you fall into winter depression. Also go to sauna with him. Dont be afraid to be naked with him in the sauna. It is natural and nothing sexual. He will most likely whip himself and you with birch branches called "vihta" or "vasta". It is traditional, dont be afraid, nothing sexual about it either
>Parkua That literally means "to cry" or " to scream of sorrow". Have fun
Robert Mitchell
>subutex
It's not even a proper opiate agonist, or are there so many junkies on replacement?
Gavin Williams
expect snow and cold since you'll be fairly north and inland summertime would have been better choice because the area has nice lakes
Noah Flores
There hasn't been much snow nor coldness the past few years. And I live even more north
Ryan Garcia
Thanks for all the stuff you finns have given me. Really appreciate the advice.
I hope it's fun, i am really looking forward to it, just nervous.
In regards to the language, are there any regional dialects that i should be aware of? What is the general dialect of that area if one exists?
Xavier Perry
Holy crap really?
Angel Ramirez
yes there has been? not as cold as usual apart from lapland but still i bet you live on the coast
Owen Cooper
t. oulu
Jace Gutierrez
You're screwed, OP.
Owen Gomez
>He will most likely whip himself and you with birch branches >he will most likely insert the tip of his penis inside your boipucci and then ram it in Fixed
Joshua Roberts
We have fast internet and great infrastructure, you won't be living in some shit hole, so don't worry.
Levi Bell
>What is the general dialect of that area if one exists? I think Savo dialect, since it resides above Kuopio. Ievan polkka was sung in old Savo, so I think it's something similar youtube.com/watch?v=TcG01qCPkR4
check this episode OP. It is Finnish urban life. You will prefer rural life in the booneys compared to hell city
Kayden Foster
That's bullshit and you know it. Actually served 2015 in Kajaani and there were barely snow and temperature dropped like once or twice below -20c. Mostly it was between +5 -5c
Jeremiah Bailey
Helsinki looks like a tourist trap. Ie hell for me.
I like cozy small towns.
Colton Flores
>tourist trap It essentially is
Angel Miller
capitals usually are
Austin Brown
Cool, hope you like it. I am also moving to Finland, in just 25 days.
Luke Stewart
FUCK OFF WE'RE FULL MOVE TO ÅLAND STAY OUT OF MAINLAND
1:27 >"How do you pick up women?" >"WELL... WE LURE THEM TO BED" >"How, what do you say to them?" >"We say let's go fuck" >"How do fuck them, can you give an example?" >"WE PUT COCK TO PUSSY AH AH"
