Personally, I'm not against people drawing in an anime style. If you want to do that, and feel comfortable, feel free. Japan does it, and they don't get any flak, even when they draw western, they aren't told to "draw more Japanese". But in the end, it's true you aren't going to improve. Malayfags comic however lost its novelty when he started searching for shekels.

Well it definitely has a fauvist tendency towards brighter more vivid and distinct color fields, at the cost of direct representation (in this case of the original painting). Got a Matisse vibe to it à la 'Le Bonhure de Vivre. Though a critique would be that the water color comes out a bit muddled, and the boundaries between color aren't filled.

I'd argue that it's not surreal simply because it's a direct representation of an existing thing, and not a real attempt at representing a product of your personal subconscious, like Dali and other surrealists were trying to do.
