What are the best years for music in your opinion?
I know that 1967, 1969, 1975, and 1977 were fantastic years. Are there any more recent years (21st century) that had as many great/influential releases than those?

smile should've came out

;-;

71, 73, 78, 91, 93, 96

>Are there any more recent years (21st century) that had as many great/influential releases than those?
00, 03 and 10 come the closest

Smiley Smile wasn't that bad

1963, 1965, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1971, 1972, 1976, 1979, 1980, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2008, 2014

you right bro
but can you imagine how things would've been different if they'd been given it more time

Every year from 66-71 can be argued based on your preference, but I'm certain this was the most important and creatively fertile period for rock and pop.

2000-03 were all pretty great, so was 2017

Why would you skip 91, a consensus all time great year? And 66? What the fuck ?

>muh indie rock

probably 1991
>Metallica - Metallica
>Nirvana - Nevermind
>Pearl Jam - Ten
>Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik
>U2 - Acthung Baby
>R.E.M. - Out of Time
>Guns N' Roses - Use Your Illusion
>Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger

What was 66 besides Pet Sounds?

1997 is far and away the greatest year in pop music history
1967 and 1991 are the only years that come close

I can't remember any supreme pop album other than OK Computer for 1997 honestly

The only great album I can think of from 75 is In Praise of Learning. I can't think of a single great album from 76

all those shit albums and you didnt mention Loveless tf

A literaly who to the pop media when comparing with these successful albums
I know you just say "shit' because you are the classic contrarian and obviously will refuse anything that is worldwide popular, not being popular only for your underground community

favourite: 1969. IMO best year of rock hisory, 67 is too close.

essential years: 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 72, 77, 79, 80, 86, 88, 91, 94, 97, 2001, 2007, 2011, 2012, 2015.

>Face to Face by The Kinks
>Revolver by The Beatles
>Blond on Blond by Bob Dylan
>Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel

By "pop music history" I just meant popular music, i.e. rock, pop, dance, etc.
