Why don't you have health insurance?

Move to Canada. Our healthcare is the best in the world

Don't pay for it, what are they gonna do?

>go to doctor's office
>give my health card to reception
>doctor tells me to get over the counter
>don't get a bill

>paying more than a $12 copay for any doctor visit
This is why you have insurance

>going to the doctor

Shit genes

>not just googling your symptoms

Forever pleb.

try weed

>>don't get a bill
So you don't pay taxes?

>had cough for a year and a half
>finally go to doctor because mom nagging
>doctor tells me to buy nasal drops and if they don't work I'm faking it
>used nasal drops, cough still there

Thanks fuck head.

This. I've self-diagnosed myself before doctors time and time again. Even for other people.

Is it true in America that when you go to the doctors, they try as hard as possible to get you out the door again?

They don't actually care about you, not even pretend to, is what I've heard.

Why don't you love capitalism, m8?

On a serious note, the German healthcare system has its problems, but shit like what you describe just doesn't happen. And if it does, then you do not get a bill with 4 digits, but you get not a bill at all or you go see a different doctor.

Don't go to the emergency room for a cough?

why did you stare at a belt afterwords?

I work closely with a few docs, I feel like most doctors are bullshitting 99% of the time. Most of the time you get better by yourself, if you it's serious the ER will take care of you.

>googling your symptoms
I swear I've seen doctors do this at an urgent care clinic I went to, and he came to the exact same conclusion I did. Yet, I need to go see this asshole to get a prescription.

>why did you stare at a belt afterwords?
guess

This is accurate. Meanwhile, I vacationed in Europe, got sick, and all the hospital staff were super friendly. I was even chumming it up with nurses, clerks, and doctors. It was totally unlike American hospitals. I had insurance which paid, but the total bill was only a couple hundred bucks.

What the hell kind of doctor are you going to? Does his name end in berg or stein?

>too sick to work and job REQUIRES a doctors note so you're forced to fucking go even though you know whats wrong

We pay out the ass for sub par healthcare.

Best in the world? You're a fucking idiot.

>become bedridden and sick due to genetic illness which surfaced in college
>take medical leave from college
>insurance coverage becomes terrible once student status is lost
>have to take on serious debt to cover medical costs

Freedom is best, and hard choices

> his job accepts doctors notes

oh. that's dumb. why would a grand in medical bills make someone want to kill themselves? that's stupid. just fucking pay it and get on with your life. Besides, if you don't have insurance, the IRS will fine you up to $600.

My doctor has even told me that they search the internet for symptoms and use wikipedia.

I think the internet is the worst invention of all time. It makes things too easy.

Get the fuck out then you worthless piece of shit

>american
>no insurance

I think I see the issue moron

Thanks to Obamacare, I pay $5 to see my primary doc, and $8 for a specialist. My prescriptions are anywhere from $0-$15.

You can't blame the system for being a retard.

That why hundreds die every year waiting to be treated and anything that's invasive or requires a high level of skill even your own people come to the US for their health care?
Fuck off cuck

hospitals.webometrics.info/en/world

canada has 1 and its ranked 26 LOOOL US has top hospitals.

ITT: You get what you pay for.

Ok it's bad, but no like this. No doctor is going to charge you 4 digits for a simple visit like that. Unless OP means $00.00 instead of what most normal people call 4 digits $0000. You are full of shit OP, and if you don't have insurance and don't know to let them know upfront and ask for a minimal visit as soon as you get there then you are a fucking moron and a liar. Most offices won't let you visit without insure unless you pay a good portion of the bill, usually 50%. So you would have known what you owed before you got a bill in the mail. Unless you're lying and went to the ER. It should never be more than 75-100 bucks for a short visit like you suggest.

No, the internet has great uses, and I'm glad have doctors have access to it so they're just not trying to remember shit from med school. I just shouldn't have to go to a doctor to get a prescription for basic shit. I'm not a retard, and know how to do a basic Google search.

>I made up some shit the thread

>oh. that's dumb. why would a grand in medical bills make someone want to kill themselves?
Do you think its just the grand in medical bills? That is just the straw that brakes the camels back.

FYI, lodge a complaint against him. I work in Patient Care Services at a hospital, mostly monitoring physician and nurse behavior and analyzing patient complaints. If any patient said their doctor looked up their symptoms on wikipedia, we'd put that doctor in front of a Medical Peer Review and grill him, then reprimand him.

You saw your doctor? I take that to mean you have seen them before.
How much were you charged the previous times you went to your doctor?

You're getting fucking ripped off. I live in CO and pay $2 and scrips for $1 like I'm on Medicaid even though I'm not.

It hurts your good goy credit score but yeah, no one can put a gun to your head and "make you pay" for being sick.

He's telling you something genuinely fucking wrong with our system.
Fucking 60% of my pay goes to that shit.

Awwww, you gonna cry?

The wait for surgery can be years long. There's a reason private clinics are popping up everywhere. Hell, my medical insurance will even pay for me to go to the states for treatment. I can go to a private clinic and get an MRI in the same day (covered by insurance). You go the public route and you'll be waiting for weeks or months. Doctors up here aren't payed shit, so keeping the good ones is a losing battle.

soft cunt whines cos he such a pussy

Ofc america has best hospitals since you have a mass shooting every day and everyone has diabeetus but he's talking about prices.

says you gypo robdog GTFO

Shut up gypsy scum

New doctors tend to care more. Then over the years after unrepentant fatties and drug addicts stomp on their soul, they become cold and uncaring.

There's also a lot of hacks that just dole out medicine willy nilly. I've told a psychiatrist before that I had a meth problem and she prescribed me fucking vyvanse. Told an addiction specialist that I got sent to rehab for benzos, and he prescribed me kpins and temazepam. Not that I complained at the time, but it just goes to show the lunacy in American medical care.

That feel when no one likes gypsys

Fuck this made me lel hard mate haha

I agree, checkups here are a total joke a lot of times.

If we got what we payed for we'd be top 5.

Socialism DOES NOT work.

Kek. America btfo by the truth.

>DUDE FREE HEALTHCARE LMAO

Sitting in emergency room with sharp appendix pain for 8 hours makes you think why the fuck am i giving away almost half of my salary in taxes

Informed response from somebody with ties to said industry

Medical costs skyrocket in US due to terrible policy:

1. Most Americans use Medicare of Medicaid (~45%) and as with most government services, it's almost impossible to maintain costs which is why CMS has instituted bundled payments. Bundled payments can seriously impact the financial performance of hospitals which is why they're all moving towards ACOs and smaller hospitals are getting eaten up by larger ones.

2. No Tort Reform - this is way more important than liberals try to overlook. Lack of Tort Reform encourages doctors to test as much as possible to protect themselves from lawsuits. This compounds prices as they will almost always request the latest, greatest tests which increases demand and prices. Almost every physician I've spoken with agree on this, especially those employed in private health care systems. Lack of Tort Reform + Bundled Payments is going to negatively impact physicians in the future.

3. Health Exchanges too Expensive - it's not surprising the United Health Group (one of the largest Payors in the US) are pulling out of the exchanges because they are far too expensive. Opening up an individual market BUT maintaining the Employer mandate for the majority of the private health care market doesn't allow for enough supply to actually drive down prices. United leaving will drive prices up even more. It would have been smarter to put all of us in the individual market and then allow health insurance across state lines. That is much closer to the German system this was originally based off.

4. It's noteworthy that most of the world's top health care systems are all based in the US despite us having some of the 'worst' outcomes according to the NHO. Free market systems always produce the best quality.

I could go on, but the great majority of reasons HC prices are going up is due to bad government policy, not the market.

caus you're a WHITE MALE

Gotta support the plebeian classes with your money, don't you remember slavery you fucking privileged oppressor?

Most places have urgent cares like MedExpress or what have you.

You should go there. I walk in, pay 125 bucks, can get X-rays, stitches, antibiotics (they sell most of them there for like 20 bucks) and most mundane shit there.

As for the larger issue of healthcare in the US-

If America wasn't too lawsuit-addicted (this doctor told me I had a sinus infection, turns out it was cancer! *litigation for about 500k*) it would drive down the cost of liability insurance for the hospitals, and healthcare professionals. Most of the nurses and doctors I know have to pay for their liability insurances, have either the hospital lawyer on retainer or have to have their own.

The rest is capitalism at its finest. They could charge as much as they want for anything they want. The only thing the government here is doing at large is just ensuring that a standard of care and protocols are in place.

>4 digits

Bullshit

Umm, no, UK is. And 100% free, I must have got through six figures of medical bills that didn't even cost me 1p :-)

Drawback is it attracts shitskins and muslim trash, fucking scrounging low life.

Bullshit

Government involvement.

See a different doctor? And not one in the hospital either. Hospital doctors unless you are going through surgery don't want to bother with your petty shit, while clinics have to thrive on the petty shit so they take you in with open arms.

But I'm guessing you are a retard.

Would've been cheaper if you bought some cheap travel insurance flown to the UK claimed you fell ill on holiday.

And you would've been treated properly.

I don't even google my symptoms, when I get sick I just wait it out, if its something serious I'll just accept my death. What are doctors gonna do anyway? All they want to do is fill you with pills and get you hooked on the drugs.

It could be more than that, but unlikely over 1000. Most dr office's I've been to will lower the fee if you're uninsured. Generally 30 to 40 dollars.

Yeah if you have two things wrong with you and you go to the doctor you generally have to choose which one you want them to treat.

but you have to pay twice to get help
>first in taxes, then again at a private healthcare spot when the public one refers you to it

Your a retard. Never post again.

There's NOTHING free about it, someones paying for it.

...

Just don't pay it.

>things that didn't happen for $500

You'd be suprised

My jobs shit too bro they don't even pay me sick time I just need the note to not get fired

This. I work in it. All the hand rubbing liars in here sound like butthurt circumcised bros

Mostly the jews who spike up prices for "research purposes". What's worse is if one of them actually tries to raise money to put nto actual research into their drug the media pulls a Martin Skrelli on them.

>he doesn't have health insurance through work
>pic related

Laughing at OP's expense (heh) aside, even when I went to the dentist for a quick check up and insurance refused to pay, it was only $80 and that included x-rays. OP you might want to find a new doctor or something.

I guess if by 4 digits his bill was $10.05 and not in the thousands.

...

Obamacare is actually pretty sweet

>Cheap premiums for high deductible plan
>Spend 1-2 years stuffing an HSA with enough to cover a full year's out of pocket
>If I ever develop a condition requiring treatment, just switch to the gold plan
>Can't be denied for preexisting conditions

>That why hundreds die every year waiting to be treated

Source? And i don't think it's unique to Canada

not even gypsies like gypsies

My dad that I drove to the doctor's office to get a check up regarding his heart. All the doctor did was ask a few questions, listened to his heart beat and gave some basic advice like eat healthier. All this for 3000 dollars. This is with good insurance too.

Interned at a hospital. Yeah, they do use google sometimes.

It's a meme from yuros. Of course you'll hear some horror stories now and then but that happens everywhere. Oftentimes they are overworked and don't have the time to hold your hand and make you feel are warm and fuzzy inside.

>american health-care
>capitalist
I fucking wish

I've worked closely with docs and they were all genuinely great caring people. a lot of the patients were self-centered assholes who don't understand that they aren't the only patient.

>be American
>get sick
>go to doctor
>pay cash
>$60 + $100 at the pharmacy

oh lawdy lawdy, please Obama I needs it free

This is why doctors are one of the many jobs soon to be automated and replaced by AI within 10 years. Feels good man.

>be sick
>throat swollen
>tonsils enlarged and covered in white gunk
>go to hospital day before Easter
>one other man in ER
>in to see doc before gf parked the car
>tests, tests, tests
>3 hours later
>"you have tonsillitis, take this for swelling and pain, take this for the infection"
>go to pharmacy one floor up
>get bag of pills
>don't pay for a goddamn thing

Anyone want to guess how I pulled that off?

That's only true for HMOs since they have a payment structure called capitation.

Basically, with HMO plans, you are forced to pick a primary care doctor; you cannot go to any other, and to change it is a pretty big mess. Essentially, you become subscribed to that doctor (just like a newspaper subscription) and the HMO will pay that doctor a certain fixed amount per month, whether you see him or not. This is also true for specialists and with HMOs you need a GP to refer you, otherwise your insurance doesn't pay jack squat.

The logic behind it was that it will encourage doctors to save money by incentivizing them from ordering expensive and often times unneeded tests and procedures. However, the logic also went the other way: that they were incentivized from giving you good care.

Other plan structures like PPOs don't have capitation, just vanilla fee for service.

Pharmacies need to be able to do tests. They can already do flu shots.
They would gladly provide the service free, because you would be buying their solutions. Doctors don't need to be dealing with sniffles

Oh yeah it's not capitalist at all. Gimme my oil change! $42 for a Tylenol. If it looks bad? It's not capitalist. If the capitalist lies lie so much that you don't see it's solely greed and money that inflate your profit motive then you are not seen as humans. Merely Oldsmobiles

the only way to get a 4 digit bill is at the ER with no insurance. What a Dope

No it isn't
