Why does Joy Division escape the label of "Dad Rock?"
Why does Joy Division escape the label of "Dad Rock?"
because their fans do not reproduce
honestly thats a good theory.
I have never heard someone label joy division as dad rock (they really aren't)
Kek
the virgin joy division fag vs the chad led zeppelin fan
>tfw no proto-goth dad
LOOL someone needs to make this
...
my dad was actually amongst the late 70s-early 80s british punk scene and attended their final show
lol ur dad is a virgin
Do you think this whole "dad-" meme thing will keep going, say, 10 years from now?
You could argue stuff from the early to mid 00s can be dadrock by now, but the term "dadrock" is frankly quite memetic and stupid. I wonder what future generations will think of it.
Don't worry punk, post-punk and new wave are being considered dadrock now. Gen X are the dads, boomers are the grandparents
>implying "dadrock" isn't an instantly recognizable and well-defined class
I haven't been to Sup Forums in years, but even I can tell what it is:
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
The Beatles
Rolling Stones.
Also, I second I mean, if you ask an average American who was young in those days, would they know anything that came out from Manchester back then?
But I would also add that it's not just the lack of reproduction, it's also just how depressing the state of affairs was back then in Britain.
A bunch of JD fans probably just kts
Because they're "hip"
dads have kids and wives. joy d fans are single losers with suicidal ideations
I mean, at this point wouldn't those bands be grandpa rock?
Anyway, calling music like that because of the period they came from is really lame, and a very millennial/post-millennial entitlement thing to do.
>calling music like that because of the period they came from is really lame
I thing assuming that this classification will be used by anyone but millenials/post-millenials who are familiar with Sup Forums memes after 2018-2019 is a very millennial/post-millennial entitlement thing to do.
Hopefully you're right.
...
their t-shirts are sold in hot-topic
>Dad
>Virgin
Good meme lad I like your style
LOL eat shit you non millennial queer, we are going to own the world soon, we're taking over
The type of stuff they play on classic rock radio stations everyday is dadrock. Post-punk type stuff isn't really radio-friendly and doesn't get airplay so it's not considered dadrock.
fpbp
they're faggy
