What was the worst time for music and why was it 1996-2006. Pop music was shit. Gay boy/girl bands. Butt rock only thing on rock radio. Rap music at an all time low. Country turning into jeans, trucks and cold beer. Holy fuck i hated living through this. Even tv and movies were bad.

1998 is a GOAT music year tho

also homogenic

Literally my opinion, too.

Eurodance though
Big beat though
Alt-rock though

I miss you sometimes

also

>she will never be your gf

But fuck you, OP. Some of the best rock music ever created came out in that era.

This

'96 was the peak year for weirdo alt rock in the mainstream you idiot

The people who hate the late 90s and early 00s are unironically sojbojs triggered that 80s fetishism has stopped after the mid 90s The same people defend 80s garbage but shit on 90s garbage because it stopped being 80s garbage.

I agree wholeheartedly. 86-96 was godly. 97 onwards is garbaggio.

This makes me sad. My god Cartoon Network has become such shit.

trance was good during this time

Courage is the greatest cartoon of all time

>Forgetting one of the best releases in 98

Fuck the SJW association, Steven Universe is a great show

No it wasn't that was '91

No

>he doesn't rate AT

1997 > 1998 > 1996 > 1999

this

1. nu metal wasnt as bad as people say it was, slipknot is an adequate metal band, want more do you want to scare your grandma? Incubus were a good radio rock band, and the deftones are always severely underrated. Nu metal was like 60 percent good and 40 percent bad.

2. the late 90's and early 2000's was peak radiohead you absolute funking mongrel plebe boy. Can you imagine being on AOL instant messenger with your chat room buddies while thom yorke rives like mental patient on saturday night live promoting kid A? while popular music was fucking like limp bizkiet and britney

vimeo.com/51713269

Rap music is at an all time low now. 2007-2013 rap had a resurgence, now its all choppy garbage

slipknot was great live

>i need to rate everything arbitrarily and everything is a competition

>What was the worst time for music
we’re in it

nowadays Death Grips are the only band channeling extreme aggressive energy

in the late 90s extreme aggressive energy was oozing from EVERYTHING

This is pretty much true but its more like 1996-present.

The only mildly interesting genres to emerge since the late 90s were witchhouse, french touch, internet slut rappers like lil debbie

>witchhouse, french touch, internet slut rappers like lil debbie
t.

>'96 bad for music

a festival I went to in '96

>coolio and sex pistols on same stage

>that day with GZA, stereolab, massive attack and björk on the same stage
fuck cypress hill ruining the fun though

Did you see Björk?

is Sup Forums the least gay board on this site? I never see traps posted here unlike many other boards. It also isn't obsessed with BBC or cuckolding either.

don't summon the Sup Forumstards

I actually agree with you, metalheads claim their music carries this kind of energy, but it's basically just compressed deadpan soft-yelling

This album was trash though. Literally QOTSA's worst album.

>Did you see Björk?

Maybe, I don't know I wasn't really into Bjork back then 2bh other than Bowie and Prodigy I can't really remember who I saw back then, I remember hearing Neil Young from my tent tho.

I didn't walk around with my programe as I didn't want to lose it, so didn't really know who was on and at what time most of the time, plus no mobile phones and I don't think I even took a watch to tell the time either, also add alcohol, LSD and weed into the mix and, "lol I dunno"

...

That has nothing to do with it.
It has to do with the internet becoming ubiquitous and destroying individual creativity and independent thought. Once the internet became a thing that was everywhere there were no more little pockets of artistic endeavors to fester and become these iconic, unique things with unique followers. Now everyone knows what everyone else is doing 24/7. Everyone is over exposed to too much shit so nothing is looked at in any detail and thus no new genuine ideas are made. Its why every single artist now is just copying stuff from the past and why every single movie made now is just a remake. The internet destroyed originality.

That doesn't justify your vapid picks.

...

Wasn't the 90's the rise of alt-country?

Kinda

youtube.com/watch?v=nPFnHdJ0dl0

It had roots in the mid-80s when the mainstream/Nashville country industry really started going in a more hick-pop direction for crossover appeal and alienating the traditional country influenced artists that were mainstream at the time. In the early 90s is when you saw people like Toby Keith and Garth Brooks and shit really come to the forefront of country music. And that's when it fully jumped the shark into what we today call "bro country" or "pop/radio country". The older guard of artists that had once been part of the country mainstream from the early 70s - mid/late 80s either sold out themselves or had to join up with the new guard of folksy singer-songwriters (think like Jeff Buckley or like Tracy Chapman) or alt-country (Uncle Tupelo and stuff) bands (or straddle the line between both).

>Pop music was shit
false
Timbaland and The Neptunes produced tracks were the pinnacle of the genre

mainstream country always sucked. the only time country was ever good is when people left Nashville and made their own country scene, with black jack and hookers.
Its called outlaw country because they had to legit tell nashville to go fuck itself while they kept spamming you with dolly parton and john denver.

We used to have constant husbando threads and every Sup Forums chatroom ever is filled with bisexuals at best.

>Its called outlaw country because they had to legit tell nashville to go fuck itself
Most of those outlaw country people were literally still part of the country mainstream. they got played on country radio along side parton and john denver and george jones or whoever
