Fan cuts

Are there any "fan cuts" of movies that make them better?
What's your opinion on them?

The only ones I'm aware of are Terminator 3: The coming storm and Waterworld: Ulysses cut, but I haven't seen either of them.

Prometheus could seriously benefit from one, although I honestly don't know how you'd fix the shitty dialogue that's already there.

I started with "Generations But No Kirk" ten years ago and have gotten quite a few since then. Probably my favourite is the dub of "Backstroke of the West"

they re-cut the Hobbit trilogy down to one movie and made it bearable.

make it silent.

Hunchback of Notre Dame cut that removes most gargoyle scenes is pretty good.

i'd watch a version cut into two movies. i like all the exposition and visuals it's all just too fucking long

One was already made. Saw it & it really is put together much better. Plus, deleted scenes that should've been left in. youtu.be/fEGJFGIPQ7c

There was an user when the first Avengers movie came out who spliced all the phase 1 marvel movies chronologically into one megamovie

the SW prequel fan edit topher grace did.

The Thief and the Cobbler cut that turns it into 20% unfinished sketches

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me has a fanedit that adds back in like an hour and a half of cut scenes (that were later released separately as Twin Peaks: The Missing Pieces). One of my favorite movies.

Same as any official cuts, you've got a whole range from awful to fantastic. Both of the ones you mentioned are pretty good.

I've wanted to see to watch Kung Fu vs Robots but never got around to it

How is it ?

Sounds unbearable.

There used to be a fan cut of Super Mario Brothers that was pretty good in that it removed some of the strange jokes and audio cues but I don't know if its still on youtube.

is star wars de-specilized any good?

only fan cuts I'm interested in seeing are of Star Wars fans' wrists

Fan cut of battlefield earth is lightyears better

which one? there are a bunch of different projects for that.

I enjoyed the phantom edit, no jar jar helps a lot

For now Harmy's are good for ESB and Return. Get Silver Screen for IV. The main issue with Harmy's despecialized for me is that it is 720. I understand that it is to unify the image fidelity a bit better as he was using many different sources including upscaled GOUT but I just prefer 1080 even with grain. There are 1080 grindhouse film scans of ESB and Return but they are really imperfect in terms of color and stabilization. Some guy, Poita or whatever, is working on scanning and restoring an ESB film print and so far his progress is pretty choice. I'm waiting for that.

This really fixed the film for me. Easily got more enjoyment

It's pretty enjoyable.

The five minute long cut of The Dark Knight Rises.

I once watched a cut of episode 1 without jarjar binks. It was surprisingly well done.

It's called the Phantom Edit.

But he's still in it though.

They kept him in for parts that it was 100% necessary to keep him in.

The whole point of the phantom edit was to minimize jar jar as much as possible without compromising plot points/character development.

watch the maple films version. 4 hours with an intermission

i once watched an over 5 hours long version of apocalypse now on vhs. wasn't worth it.

>Prometheus could seriously benefit from one
it literally couldn't

You just need to put in the deleted scene. bam, instantly 10/10

Yes but a common misconception is that Jar Jar is completely cut from the movie.

I WANT TO DO THIS FOR THE HOBBIT SO BADLY

BUT I'M TOO FUCKING LAZY

>You just need to put it in the toaster. bam, instantly 10/10
If this was what you meant, I agree.

Batman Red Book Edition was pretty кинo
