look up michael new on yt. i finally got basic theory after watching his videos. as for getting professional lessons i think they're definitely helpful but not a requirement. you just need to be able to critique your own playing, and be driven enough to play/practice a lot.

For those from the last thread that were wondering, yes i transcribed it entirely by ear and no i have no clue what the chords are. I just have a very good ear and always have. I can pretty much just hear something then in my head know the frets. I will probably study music after finishing my stem degree
