Tfw the bassist is using a pick

>tfw the bassist is using a pick

It's better for certain kind of sounds. For jerky punk and post-punk basslines, pick is often better, sounds pluckier.
Tons of great bassist use picks, and many alternate between using it and not depending on the song or style they're doing.

>tfw the bassist is using distortion with a pick

>guitarist is using a pick under 0.45mm

>drummer uses a pick

>tfw trumpeter is using a pick

Nothing wrong with that.

psych pop basslines arguably sound better witha pick

Does that even exist? I use .46 and it feels thin as fuck and I got baby hands.

>producer using a pick

>guitarist uses fork instead of pick

>tuba player doesn't use a pick

>third percussionist is playing a glockenspiel pick

>bassist fingerpicks by the neck

>piper picks a peck of pickled peppers

lol

i think i read somewhere that Swans' bassist uses a pick for most of the songs and he's pretty good

>b-but muh skillful finger playing
it all depends on the fucking sound you're trying to achieve.
the reason majority of bassists use their fingers is because it gives a more muffled, controlled sound, not to mentions the limitations the bass guitar give are actually a big help not to make too complicated bass lines that ruin the song.
Some punk and metal bands though use pick because they play fast and aggressive, and want their bass to sound just as bright and sharp as their guitars.

any pick thinner than 1 mm belongs in the trash

I only use my fingers because I'm absolute dogshit with a pick, they feel super flimsy to me and always fly out of my hands and they're just clunky and awful. I'm a million times faster with my fingers, so I just compensate by digging in incredibly hard and EQing my amp to accentuate the midrange and treble.

I saw Swans live, can confirm he uses a pick.

>bassist uses his excessively long fingernails as picks

>Chuck the woodchuck chucks wood chucked woodwind instruments
