Think I might go watch Silence today
anybody seen it yet?
what does he mean by this?
Screenwriting is pretty underrated. Everyone wants to be the director but no one wants to be the screenwriter.
>spielberg
That's because the screenwriter is just the directors bitch
End of Evangelion, because it also took place on New Years. Though I liked it a lot less after seeing so many more movies. Its pretty preachy.
I really wanted to see this on Christmas, but my city is too small to show it.
Nicely put
>there are people who defend writers as true auteurs
ugh
tfw probably not going to watch Silence today after all
tfw no gf
tfw gf
tfw bf
tfw xe/xyrf
Who /embryoandproud/ here?
tfw evolved human being who doesn't need the companionship or shallow feelings of others to be satisfied and joyful with myself
2016 - 244
2015 - 300
2016 - 225
I want to get at least 300 movies this year.
Not sure when I'm going to see it. Quite excited to watch it though.
Why did you slip?
HNNNNNNGG
No idea. I don't even have any social life to eat away from my time.
New year, new start. gonna try and watch 365 movies this year.
man with all these low-shooters going for 300 something i guess i don't have to bother going for 500 this year
Nah, do it. That way everyone can see you don't have a life.
*tips fedora*
You can't tip your fedora at everything in life. Go outside. I bet you spend the new years alone at home you fucking loser.
>I bet you spend the new years alone at home you fucking loser.
Not that guy but that fucking hurts, you big meanie.
;-;
What should be the first film i watch this year?
Pride (2007)
Anyone else doing the FSDO Challenge? Figured I needed to get out of my comfort zone and watch more older films.
That's sad, do something about that this year.
>Watching recordings of my university lectures
>Can't log them in my letterboxd diary
Is there even any point?
Reminder to believe PUNQ
Frick off, ya cunt
This isn't a safespace you fucking fat loser.
>2017
>they still believe PUNQ
Reminder to not believe PUNQ's lies
This isn't a safespace you fucking fat loser.
What are you looking at, fuckface?
>mfw I don't watch tv movies and series because I can't log them, even if they're there, since they're not muh kino
autism was a mistake
>normiefags trying to talk shit
I have this too. Why would I want to watch a season of a TV show when I could watch 4 or 5 films in the same time, and log them on my online dick measuring website?
I don't remember the last time I watched a TV show.
Wait, does he intend to see every film made that year? That's a lot.
...
hope everyone watches some good films in 2017
>not a spielberg fan
punq would be based af if he had good taste
his films do nothing for me, they are all well made but nothing above that. The definition of "pretty good"
What are you looking at, fuckface?
you might have better taste than most teenagers, but not better taste than most teenagers who consider themselves to have good taste
last film of 2016 was the Silver Screen Edition of Star Wars. Absolutely the best way to watch it, even trumping despecialized in almost every regard
the other chart is better, with number of films watched and positive contribution to the general
>Figured I needed to get out of my comfort zone and watch more older films.
you do, but numbered list challeges are pretty day IMO
just watch Dreyer, Griffith, and Renoir's 30's output for starters
i'm proud to be a growing embryo, if that's what you mean
The one I'm doing seems alright. The person who made it linked a bunch of lists for each category, so I can look up more of each genre or style.
I'll give those guys a look though, cheers. Some of their work is on my list anyway.
Come on, Spielberg is extremely entertaining and prolific, and not a single of his 30+films 'do something' for you? Blah
>entertaining
here's your problem kiddo....
January's lookin great already
They're lame. How can you find BoS "extremely entertaining", chugging down some pretty hard drugs..
Only if entertaining as a value is troublesome for a fedora type
>they're lame
No.
And BoS is you picking a late career example, which while pretty good, is very settled. But on a career observation- and mainly in his first two decades-, you have a great cinema of entertainment as few times made by any other director.
>you have a great cinema of entertainment as few times made by any other director.
That's like, your opinion. Ford is a bad actor, antagonists are meme tier Nazis, Jaws is bordering on comedy.
>
Forget about it, didn't realize it was to a dumb embryo I was replying
Really excited for January here in the UK. And I've got 6 free cinema tickets that I'm looking forward to using.
At least not stupid enough to shill Spielberg.
At least not stupid enough to shill Spielberg.
...
choose my first watch of the year lads
Breathless made me breathless over how good it is.
The Artist was made by a real artist.
At The Circus is like yr at a circus!
Bad Taste is certainly bad taste.
Breathless it is, thanks user.
Will watch tonight after I watch Sherlock with my family
That's a fantastic group. Mnay masterpieces and great films
selection from 100 films I've drawn up as a little challenge to myself to watch in 2017
The French communists are idiots.
come on dude
Jaws and Raiders are literally perfect films
When Harry Met Sally
fun, lighthearted, lovely, and perfect. Get you started on the right foot
Waltz with Bashir is incredible too but till depress the fuck out of you
Wild Strawberries is also intimate and flawless but is less incredibly uplifting than WHMS
To me perfect entertainment is Terminator, Alien and Snatch.
Yes, I agree they are too. As are many os SS's films
I'd also say Terminator is perfect too, Alien is up there
Snatch is reddit shit though, IDK what you're smoking
>snatch
>reddit shit
>terminator and alien isn't
HAHHAHAHAHA
what are some movies that aren't well known and you rated 5 stars?
i.4cdn.org
Happy New Year from Silent Night, Deadly Night III: Better Watch Out!'s Ricky.
Yes exactly, I have the exact same reaction to your opinions
Fuck, Guy Ritchie is one of the worst vulgar autist memes of all time
>vulgar autist
do you actually know what VA is or do you just use the term for any director you don't like? Ritchie is not VA.
i love January
AHAHAHHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Today I will call you steakbro
Very nice ratings
AHAHAHHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Almost respectable burgerfaggot. Keep your profile looking like this and maybe we won't bully you so much.
And if Ritchie isn't a vulgar auteur, then who is? He makes highly stylized schlock that people confuse for genuine artistry. Sounds like vulgar auteurism to me
i feel like i need to continue to include the disclaimer that i don't really subscribe to vulgar auteurism as a cinematic theory because it's unfounded in a lot of ways BUT
Ritchie's films lack the social commentary inherent in a lot of VA filmmakers' work. his work in the crime genre is essentially Tarantino-style pastiche for fun, and while i do enjoy his films for the most part (Sherlock Holmes 2 is one of the most fun Hollywood flicks), i find it hard to believe that anyone would confuse them for masterpieces. Lock, Stock, & Two Smoking Barrels is the favorite film of 22 year old college dudebros and no one else.
>implying there's anything wrong with being dudebro.
>implying there's anything wrong with being chad.
>implying implications.
nerd kys
who the fuck names themself steakbro
where did i say or imply that?
