What are some bands where the compilation albums are practically part of the group's studio album canon?

I don't know OP, but I'm bumping what could be a quality thread

cLOUDDEAD

Disco Inferno, for one. Relics would be canon if the Piper contrarians actually bothered to listen to anything else the band made.

This as well.

VU, probably a lot of obscure/foreign pre-internet bands would qualify but that's probably not where you were going with this thread

New Order Substance.

And Joy Division's

Buzzcocks - Singles Going Steady

...

Nirvana
Beatles

...

...

Masterplan - Oasis

there was a lot of exposure for Nirvana when the 10th anniversary of his death rolled around, i actually never heard of them before that. this comp was pretty good first exposure

Modest Mouse - Building Nothing Out Of Something

...

...

...

...

...

I was talking about Incesticide mi hermano but yeah that comp was also an entry point for me

Probably hasn't been around long enough to be "considered" as such, but I seriously love the way this flows. I rarely listen to their studio albums now unless it's for individual songs like Jenny Was a Friend of Mine
