A Sydney man has been charged after he posted a screencap of another facebook users post that contained a screencap of a womans tinder profile.
The post attracted a number of comments described as "degrading", when the woman asked the man who first posted her tinder to remove the post he refused. In response, the woman shared the post to her own page which attracted the attention of her friends. The friends set up a facebook page titled "Sexual violence won't be silenced" and quickly gained over 11,000 likes and called attention to their plight.
The man who posted the screencap of the screencap, who I have no fucking idea where he comes into the picture because the article is written by a woman, pled guilty to the charge using a carrier service to menace, harass, or cause offence. He will be sentenced on 29th of July where he faces 3 years in prison.

And people wonder why Americans are so adamant to hold onto our guns.
How can you claim to live in a free society if you are imprisoned for shit like this?
I am convinced that our right to arms acts as to deter our government from trying tyrannical shit like this. I say this because in pretty much any other Western nation, citizens can be imprisoned by the state for saying things that aren't politically correct.

three years is pretty lenient for rape. whether it's electronic rape or physical rape, the victim suffers the same.

Can any legal bros tell me why people plead guilty?
I was under the impression that even a serial killer found with blood on his hands and the murder weapon should still plead not guilty. Is pleading guilty just a pathetic way of sucking up to the jury/judge and getting a lesser sentence? Or just a way of saying "I know how this trial will go, let's not waste time."
?????

I keep telling people-- and no one listens-- you have to be insane to keep a goybook these days.
Do people think cuckerburg is worth 50 billion dollars from the fucking ads on that thing that 90% of people block?
No, he's worth it bc he collect all your info (whether you are on FB or not) and then sells it. If you have to visit goybook, even for shitposting purposes, always use Tor.

It's really a corrupt way of doing things bc you often get guys pleading guilty to shit they didn't do just to avoid possibility of doing 40 years vs 2 years, but there you go...

You plead guilty when it's part of a deal. It saves the state money and time. Either you get a lower charge-- like manslaughter instead of murder, or a lesser degree of murder-- and therefore a less severe sentence, or some other kind of deal.

In that instance, he's going to get life or the death penalty anyway, so it doesn't matter.
If it's a death penalty state in the US, sometimes will plead guilty to avoid death penalty in exchange for life without parole (I'd personally pick the death penalty were I in that situation, but even that takes 18 years unless you are someone like McVeigh the Jews want dead enough to rush it along.

It's called deterrence. The theory is that the government is less likely to attempt to infringe upon our rights like free speech because we are also armed.
I think it makes good sense, because if you look at other countries with cultures and legal system that are most closely-related to ours, you will see that citizens of these nations are less free in many ways, compared to the USA.

Why would it be ? You're never just accused of murder. You're accused of an ensemble of things, and for each you can plead either innocent or guilty. Wether or not the other party has the same opinion on what is it you've done and why you did it, you still get to defend yourself. The administration offers deals on some cases in exchange for guilty pleading.

maybe I'm wrong, but I thought if you lied under oath that it was a crime of perjury, but apparently if you plead not guilty but proof is later shown (like a video) that you are guilty, they never tack on a perjury charge.
as I said, in america you can exercise your 5th amendment right to remain silent, and you don't have to say a word, and it's not supposed to indicate guilt.

A lawyer would recommend you take a plea deal if the odds are not in your favour. In this case, our aussie bro had documented evidence of harassment against him. To save time and money, the prosecution or crown depending on where you are would offer up a plea bargain, typically a less severe sentence but it could also be a lesser crime as others have stated.
However, the nifty thing about plea bargains is they are not legally binding. A prosecutor could throw the entire bargain out, and it would be perfectly legal. However, that would fuck over the entire system.
His lawyer probably told him that, were it taken to trial, it would not be an argument of facts but rather an argument on the interpretation of the law and as we have seen, you will rarely win when it comes to victim olympics.

They will never, those days are over. Instead they'll whittle away at your rights slowly, adding layer after layer of bureaucratic steps, media propaganda, "reasonable" restrictions, and virtually unheard of case law until you find the number of gun owners declining every year. And then one day, they'll say that nobody needs guns in such an enlightened nation, and there won't be anyone to disagree.
That's the problem I have with 99% of American gun owners. They talk big about protecting muh rights and fighting tyranny, but the tyranny arrived long ago, as did the time to fight. They fellate Jefferson's skeletal cock, but completely ignore what he said about revolutions and governments. And it's understandable, because life in America is pretty good overall, and few people are willing to risk everything for the sake of an ideal.

"no contest" is not an admission of guilt but an acceptance of a sentence. pleading the 5th is not acceptance of anything, and you still have to be convicted.
Ethan Cox
The current tyranny is exerting control through pleasure though, instead of outright fear and violence. When the world stage and even your own domestic stage view the government as largely peaceful and benign, or at least a provider of comforts you "couldn't live without", an armed response would be viewed as heavy handed and misguided. Until the government can be pegged for doing something completely against the will of the people, and not for the people, only then could there be a revolution. As it stands, it has not been proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the government has done anything worth armed resistance. That being said, I would support the rascals being thrown out. The fact that Hillary made it this far into the presidential election only proves to me that the Obama administration has failed the American people again. But until we discover a signed letter from Obama that is corroborated saying "burn the evidence paco", no armed revolt would ever be supported.
Jose Brooks

Sadly. America still has the best chance at freedom, though. Your nation is nominally founded on it, the idea (if not the consistent application) of freedom is ingrained in the national psyche, and arms are still in the hands of the people. But not enough people realize there is a problem at all, let alone that it must be dealt with in the manner the 2nd was designed to enable.
