Votes being counted on something right now.
Cmoooooooon hat trick.
>Sanders
>Aye
>Votes in the affirmative
>Kirk
That fucking traitor did it again.
Which one?
>The Democratic proposals:
>Brought by Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., it would give the Justice Department the power to stop anyone from purchasing a gun if that person has been on the federal terrorist watch lists sometime in the past five years. This measure would also make it easier for the government to halt a gun purchase, based on "reasonable belief" as opposed to "probable cause" that the individual will use the firearm to commit terrorism. The White House backs this measure.
>An amendment by Chris Murphy, D-Conn., would close the "gun show loophole" by requiring every gun purchaser to undergo a background check and to expand the background check database. It would also extend background checks to Internet sales.
>The GOP proposals:
>This one from John Cornyn, R-Texas, would require that law enforcement be alerted when anyone on the terrorist watch list attempts to buy a weapon from a licensed dealer. If the buyer has been investigated for terrorism within the past five years, the attorney general could block a sale for up to three days while a court reviews the sale. The government would have to show probable cause that the person is a known or suspected terrorist.
>An amendment by Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, would clarify what it means to be found mentally deficient, and giving people suspected of serious mental illness a process to challenge that determination.
I leave for 10 minutes to make this thread and this is what happens. The fuck is this uppity nigger babbling about Africa for? Why is everyone in the room a women
im surprised there aren't more threads on this. seems kinda important.
i guess Sup Forums is too busy responding to datamining "what is your opinion on X" threads
Cmon boys, get in this fucking thread
I think it's the second one? The way they worded it is different for obvious rhetoric reasons. They called it the one to increase funding and resources for national background checks
>Motion fails on the first of the four gun control proposals voted on today. Only 3 more to deal with
Good luck, but I'm not optimistic.
I raise my SSG08 in salute to you.
2nd one just failed pretty badly. 2 more to go.
only cloture voting on limiting the debates.
ar15.com
Yeah the second one is being voted on now. Not sure which the first one that failed was, I guess the first Dem one?
>2nd one just failed pretty badly. 2 more to go.
Are those voted on right away or can I go to sleep? Will it be archived?
When seconds count, police are minutes away.
One does not merely take on the Gun Lobby. They are a duel Donor/Constituent alliance, the most powerful kind of alliance in Politics.
read somewhere today that 96% Americans agree that if you shouldn't be able to have a gun if you're on the terrorist watchlist
Apparently I am with the 4% because I don't know who the fuck is on or how to get on the watchlist because it's all classified information.
I don't have any guns yet.
I'd have a shit fit if they got anything through before I save money for funs.
They're being voted right now. It's live.

Voting for delays on purchase for people on the no-fly list right now.
So is there going to be shit about banning military style semi automatic weapons?
As opposed to the gun prohibition lobby, which is literally just urban millionaires and billionaires who have personal bodyguards.
>Delay no fly list gun sales for 72 hours
>This will still fail somehow
Yeah I got it open now. Fuggit, time to watch.
Why are they saying names but not giving their votes?
No one is even at their desk how are they voting
One of these fuckers can just walk up there and add something to it to ban them, it could even be already hidden inside one of the laws. No one reads that shit.
Yeah idk how this works but why are people just standing around and talking in the front; this looks like a mess
I think they are voting, then afterwards they'll read off the yays and nays.
You walk up to the lady and say aye or nay. Once everyone's voted they announce who voted for what.
Exactly. The Gun Lobby consists of large groups of angry Rednecks backed by Industrial corporations. Even Bernie Sanders is smart enough to let that sleeping dog lie.
It'd be easier to take on Goldman Sachs than the NRA, no actual lie.
But she's going so fast
I read the amendments, there's nothing like that in the terror watchlist bills.
Also FYI guys they're just voting on cloture. This is to end debate and go to the actual vote on whether or not to pass the amendments.
Oh. I thought you pressed buttons on your desk which is why there were "scandals" before of people pressing buttons at other people's desks while they were away
Do most japs speak English?
Good.
so at least some of these are going to get shot down? omg i can't wait for the shitlib SHAME ON YOU BLOOD IS ON YOUR HANDS tweets i'm already erekt
The NRA is literally 5 million dues-paying members, most of whom are common citizens, and random people who contribute to the NRA-ILA. They should be more powerful than some liberal fucks from NYC who will never be affected by these regulations.
>It'd be easier to take on Goldman Sachs than the NRA, no actual lie.
Because at least the ladder believes in American laws
Have a (you) for being the one guy in America who might have actually read the amendments
>Rubio not there again
Same family comfy as fuck
I know this is just for cloture, but why are people standing in the front and talking
All of these bills are dead in the water. I don't know why the gunphobes have set themselves up for failure, especially when liberals won't get out to vote because of this but conservatives will comes out in droves.
No.
I imagine all will. The 72 hours for no fly list sales seems pretty harmless though.
Intentional and arbitrary inconvenience of citizens trying to exercise their rights should fail. Innocent until proven guilty.
how does one get on the no-fly-list?
who is on the no fly list at this moment?
Fuck that motherfucker.
We need a thread for those when they happen
Probably the few who take their job seriously and are trying to convince each other.
If they go one at a time it will take hours.
Nobody seems to really give a fuck in that room.
No wonder voting records tend to be such a mess. Many probably forget what they are voting on.
Get you a nugget or an SKS they are cheap, 300 or less.
Posting anti government stuff on Sup Forums is a good way to get on those lists
It's politics as usual
These bills crop up after each major shooting, and they fail each time
incremental gun control takes place at the state level, the legislature won't pass anything meaningful, and even if they did, they need another SC vote to make it final
The main concerns about the no-fly list are due process. It's a secret list that the government can arbitrarily add people to, and there's no appeals process or any way to get off the list.
Showmanship. They can later say we proposed all these bills to stop gun violence but those mean ol republican bullies wouldn't pass them. Now vote for us please
better just to spend an extra $200 and get a basic AR-15 desu senpai
This.
post yfw all 4 measures fail
Thanks for this thread, OP. I didn't know this was going down.
And thanks for the link
MURRICA
Cruz voted aye?
i think i heard mark levin say there was more than a million people on the no fly list
WTF did i hear "Cruz" in the affirmative???
i sincerely hope this all leads to less gun laws now that the fags are waking up to the reality that they're a backseat issue and they need to defend themselves.
They think it will gain them support in the upcoming Congressional race.
You don't get off, they decide to whether to take you of or not. I have a buddy from my college days who has been on the no fly list since he was 3 because he shares the same name as a guy from the IRA
Indeed, anyone know when the actual vote is on all this?
Paul as well.
Yeah, but the showmanship means nothing to liberal voters. They have a bunch of things they care about more than gun control. Conservatives are basically single-issue voters on this and they -will- show up to the polls to vote Trump if you hold a gun control vote a few short months before the election.
Even if any of these pass the senate they also have to pass the house. So nothing is going through.
and Rubio
Yeah he's a little rat bastard RINO don't you know?
>Feinstein
To each their own.
It's a cloture vote, not the vote to pass the amendments. They're voting on whether to end debate and hold the votes. The real votes are probably going to start around 7PM Eastern.
This nigga gets it.
Not my gun btw.
I think this is the vote - for cloture. If it passes, then it goes to vote. Cloture is the vote to start the vote basically. If it fails here it fails as I understand it.
yup
I got blocked by Owen Cuckboy Jones last night on Twitter for saying "welcome to public office kiddo."
If he reports me to the speech police will that put on me on a no fly list to prevent me from going over to england to laugh in his face over a Brexit?
>Innocent until proven guilty
A delay of a gun sale to a suspect isn't claiming they are guilty. If a suspected serial killer is in jail awaiting trial they have yet to be proven guilty, should they be allowed to have guns delivered to their cells?
I know, the "due process" meme, but I somehow doubt there are millions of Americans on the list there wrongly, and again this is at most a 72 hour delay? That's it?
I can't even imagine what crime that would end up preventing, but the fact it would fail anyway is funny.
Well this isn't even preventing the people on those lists from getting a gun.
>The government would have to show probable cause that the person is a known or suspected terrorist.
Surely you can't think this is THAT unreasonable. Delaying a sale for max of 3 days and the government has to show some proof as to why they are on the list to begin with?
Thank you for clarifying
They know these bills are going to fail, but they're voting for them so they can tell constituents that they tried to play nice and negotiate.
There's absolutely no exact requirements to actually get put on the list. My aunt, a very conservative christian woman, who had never even been out of the state, went to fly to California for business, and she found out she was on the no-fly list.
The issue also lies in the fact that there is no set way to appeal to get off of the list, so if you get randomly put onto it, or falsely put onto it, there's no way you can be taken off. You'll never be able to fly, and if gun control laws pass, purchase a weapon to protect yourself, either.
This is true as well. Gun Control really only happens in a state-by-state progression, but desu pol that's actually fine by me. If I want to live New York City, then I have to play by New York City's rules.
And third one fails. One more, lads.
On its face the proposal from Cornyn seems pretty reasonable, can someone show how it isn't?
>Requires the government to show probable cause
He's probably some military faggot in Okinawa.
So much this.
>((((Feinstein))))
Thanks fellow burger
I would be okay with Cornyn's amendment if it included repealing one of the random useless regulations we have to comply with, or otherwise had some compromise to benefit gun owners. I don't think we should be "compromising" by only letting gun grabbers get part of what they want and not getting anything in return.
>the government would ever willingly give up control
Bet my ass he'll say yes to all
Didn't even think about that
>I know, the "due process" meme, but I somehow doubt there are millions of Americans on the list there wrongly, and again this is at most a 72 hour delay? That's it?
That's just the start of it. I still don't know what they did wrong and why their even on there. It's all a big secret and it freaks the hell out of me.
Oh, you.
