How long is it before we get another embarrassing attempt at an adaptation?

How long is it before we get another embarrassing attempt at an adaptation?

Will there be a Mario cinematic universe?

>SMCU
>Wario gets a movie with Waluigi
>it's a misadventures comedy

Fund it Nintendo.

I think they will attempt a zelda one first

>fully CG movie
>ultra minimal dialogue, relies on physical comedy/action a la Buster Keaton
>Mario and Bowser team up at the end to defeat the real final boss Waluigi

>mfw Zelda is my favorite vidya franchise
>mfw all we have are the cartoons
Please don't fuck this up, Nintendo.

This is likely, or a Sonic Boom-style cheaply produced 3D show with self aware humour and light adventure.

That would be good and not successful. Silent comedy isn't popular nowadays, even though it's classy and timeless. Kids were restless during the first 30 minutes of Wall-E even though it was the highlight of the movie.

Mario > Zelda > Excitebike > a bunch of shit no one remembers > Metroid

They will cast a girl as link in order to create hype, you read it here first

>Kids were restless during the first 30 minutes of Wall-E even though it was the highlight of the movie.

No it is the children who are wrong.jpg

>mfw Metroid would just be Alien

It's not hard to predict, mate. They've already done a female Link, and Link dressing in drag in the games.

>Mario cinematic universe
Nigga you think too small

NINTENDO CINEMATIC UNIVERSE is where the money's at:

>Mario Movie, real actors, plays like a fish-out-of-water where Mario and Luigi enter the Mushroom Kingdom and do shit
>Donkey Kong movie with Planet of the Apes realistic CG, just DK, Diddy and Cranky, ends with the DK crew from the N64 game appearing, and they do the DK rap
>Mario movie 2 which is basically superstar saga
>Zelda Movie which is just Ocarina of Time, Link of course has a voice
>Metroid movie which is just Aliens but with metroids
>Smash movie where it's basically a tournament and everyone fights

That's only phase 1 and it's at least 3 billion guaranteed

Cast Donkey Kong.

I nominate Idris Elba.
Jayden Smith as Diddy.

Yeah but Alien doesn't have PRIMAL SCREAM

isn't mario supposed to have BLUE overalls?

what about luigi's mustache?

I could make a good zelda. Actually a good concept now that I think about it. I don't need the zelda property, it's so generic it's laughable. Just a badass with a sword who never talks. I'd watch that.

>Movie starts
>some burly farmer working in a field
>looks up and there's some massive/explosion/cataclysm earthquake in the distance
>he just stares as a cave opens up nearby
>Goes in and gets a sword and a cryptic one word line of advice, like "be careful"
>nods, and goes on his adventure
>an hour of him doing stuff without talking
>sometimes he meets another person and they give him information and he nods
>save princess at end, she kisses him
>he just drops the sword and walks away

that's the movie. It could be done.

>In April of 2017, Nintendo Studios announced a live-action Super Mario film, starring James Gandolfini as Mario. Shigeru Miyamoto was skeptical of the decision initially, but was swayed by the quality of digital facial reconstruction in Rogue One.[18]

Nintendo was pretty inconsistent in the early years of Mario before they established his look.
Here's him from the cartoon.

His overalls have been red, white, and blue. They were originally red, and red was the most common in the 80s.

I'd do Majora's Mask so I could include the moon.

This is his earliest design.

>he walks into the first dungeon
>there's a skeleton on the floor in front of him
>thirty seconds of him just looking around the room
>picks up a rock and throws it at the skeleton
>trap falls down and crushes anyone who would have been there, just like the skeleton once was
>he nods and sidles around the outskirts of the room

That'd be a good everpresent reminder of what he's after, probably best idea. No time travel bullshit though.

wasn't mario japanese?

Here he is wearing white and blue, but no red. His design was pretty open ended in the 80s.

>he's walking down the road
>stops
>looks around
>looks off in distance
>takes out boomerang
>squints off in the distance again
>throws the boomerang
>starts walking again, slowly, and measured
>some monster pops out of the ground, heavily armoured, and advances towards him
>he backs up
>boomerang comes back and hits the monster
>monster whirls around
>hero slays it in the exposed back

>he meets up with an annoying fairy that doesn't shut up
>traps it in a bottle after five minutes and rolls his eyes
>later he uses the fairy as a distraction

>another embarrassing attempt

>implying the first one wasn't fucking perfect

should mario cinematic universe start with a donkey kong movie or should they go the dcu route try to jump straight to the koopa kids?

>he beats all enemies he meets with his sword relatively easily
>encounters a dude with a bow and arrow that almost fucks him up
>beat him somehow prolly just by fucking whipping his sword at him
>goes over to collect the bow and arrows
>only three arrows
>that's all gets
>rest of the movie has him collecting the arrows he shot

when the cave opens up, that little jingle needs to play.

I like that. Underrated post.

He travels the land by combat rolling constantly

Every capeshit movie is an embarrassing take on the source material. SMB is an interesting take on the source material. You fucking retard.

You guys all know a LOZ movie would be boring as fuck

nah

>movie ends with some pretty boy in a green cloak kissing the princess
>some gay ass parade and fanfare or something starts for him
>hero just looks on impassively and then drops the sword and walks away

It's the fastest way.

Legend was basically a Zelda movie.

and it will probably be better than any future Zelda adaptation not made by Studio Ghibli.

Maybe, but you would think the kids would appreciate the emphasis on physical/visual comedy the most. If Nintendo realistically does try this, they'll have to shoot for a G rating.

>burly farmer
>not a blond twink
