An hour ago. I bought a copy of this.

This is almost exclusively how I record shop.
Thrift stores. $2. Get weird shit.

It's REALLY fun.
Here's my most recent pickups.

Nice user keep the spirit alive

I just buy everything on Discogs
I can get mint or near mint copies so much easier there and most record store have the same prices as discogs anyway
I used to go to flee markets but a guy there once urinated on me so I stopped going

The employees are probably like thank god someone took this trash off our hands

What a selection!

I agree.

I disagree. Some of the best shit I got was from thrift stores. Also fuck off Marilyn and Billy were from The Fifth Dimension and they're awesome.

Discogs could be really cool except I can pretty much never bring myself to pay for the shipping charges.

For some reason the sellers who have a record I want almost always have no other records that I want so combined shipping never really works out well either.

based thrift diver

I picked up a copy of this from a local charity store for about a buck (and that was probably overpaying) but Piano and the man who sold the world on the B side alone made it worth buying
also Piano sounds amazing slowed down to 33rpm

I went with my friend to a thrift shop a month or so ago and he was talking to someone else so I decided to dig through some records while I waited.

I got this for £1 in a charity shop, sleeve is pretty beat up but the record is pristine. Sadly it's just a reissue so it's probably only worth about £15-20, but that's not a bad deal.

Did you see anything neat?

I've got the #1 hit single from Row 1, Column 6.

I feel like I was spoiled by finding too much good shit the first couple of months or so I started collecting. Now I have no patience and my local record store is starting to use discogs to price all their shit so, meh.

July. No idea why this was in the $1 bin

That album looks amazing.

It's a single.

same, although it skips and loops on hip to be square so maybe that's why it was only a dollar

more like skip to be square lol

I hate it now. I never buy singles. You completely ruined it.

When was it, it was about 10 days ago, but I do plan to go digging as soon as I go to town again (I live in a rural area, and I'm haven't started the second semester yet).

it's a 12" single if that makes it less terrible

All the time, pic related.

chicagoan here
I like to go to Reckless Records with $20 in my pocket and see what I walk out with.

$1 Hall and Oats Greatest Hits was a good find

So it's false advertising too. Just great.
I expect a full album I get 3 songs. Fuck that shit.

Went crate digging last weekend, came home with a copy of Billy Ocean's Suddenly and Bobby Brown - Dance Ya Know It.

went to the record store just yestrday for the first time in a while and picked myself up an OG pressing of Music For Airports, a good find

lol you didn't even buy it dude the hell are you so mad for

I've made very similar mistakes of buying maxi-singles when I thought they were albums.

I once bought Aretha Franklin. Thought it'd be an album. Nope. 2 songs, the size of an LP. What the fuck is a point?

tfw

just read the tracklist in future instead of peeing rings around yourself in excitement at the sight of a name you recognize

incredible haul. what are the 2 albums on the very top right?

>peeing rings around yourself in excitement
That's fucking disgusting nobody does that.

figuratively speaking, you do, if you reflexively purchase records to the extent that you've bought one without checking the tracklist before

>if you reflexively purchase records to the extent that you've bought one without checking the tracklist before
I always do this.
I buy from flea markets and good will they're like $0.50 A pop at most. I don't lose much it's just A minor inconvenience.

Plus I just hate the concept of putting 2 songs on a big LP in any sense. Just a waste of A large record.

Malcolm McLaren "Duck Rock", and Elvis Costello "Armed Forces" (US version)

ain't nothing wrong with it dude, getting excited about music is never a bad thing, but it is silly to get mad about accidentally buying a single when a couple of seconds of looking would avoid it entirely
I prefer 12" singles over 7" anyway because I like the size uniformity in my collection but that's just my own autism

I'm skeptical
you got the American Issue of Armed Forces but also Public Image Ltd's first album which wasn't issued in the US until 2013?

years ago. kinda stopped cause i can just get it online easier and i always feel anxious being the 1 guy in there going through records 1 by 1 for an hour

I'm in the US. The PIL "1st Issue" is an early UK pressing on Virgin. You'd have to ask whoever donated their collection to a thrift store if you want to know how it crossed the Atlantic. I imagine indie stores would have imported it back in the day. I'm surprised Warner Bros put out "2nd Edition", but not "1st Issue" here.

Same

>I used to go to flee markets but a guy there once urinated on me so I stopped going
Surely there's a story here.
Did he find out you spell 'flea' wrong, or did this happen after the fact because you fled?

> sifted through crates today at an old 2nd hand shop
> the gets

>circle jerks and the clash

Went last wednesday, but a couple weeks before that I went and picked up this and used his performance of Wichita Lineman to make this: crystalminotaur.bandcamp.com/track/dream-date/

Went earlier today and found pic related in excellent condition for 7$ CAD
