so only a handful of albums that year were better than 0.8/10? lol

Dude I don't know how old you are but 1998 was literal fucking garbage.
They do this shit all the time. Just ignore them. If they're hacks why are you reading them?
all those writers are gone, this is nufork
Lmao ... This and they put ITAOTS at #4 of that year
This album is good though
the list wasn't completely bad
pj harvey and mark hollis were good picks but both would have been higher for me
>outkast #1
>Lauryn Hill #2
wow, when this was announced we really called it.
>music has the right to children - 10/10
>in the aeroplane over the sea - 10/10
>the miseducation of lauryn hill - 9.5/10
>places higher above them both
they really are so predictable in their revisionist blackwashing of music history
>giving number 1 to white males
oh no sweetie
it's because their staff has drastically changed in makeup since back in 98
they now hire people from jezebel and shit to write for them now
pitchfork has always been revisionist. if they're still around when the pendulum swings we'll see more revision of their past reviews.
>sweetieposting
kys
it shows.
all the best albums were in the 30s and 20s
how it feels to be something on, shape of punk to come, mark hollis, sonic youth, mercury rev, etc.
>kys
uhm sweetie, already tried that
My sister played the spice girls too often
You can make a convincing argument that Aquemini is the best album of 1998 but Lauryn Hill has no place anywhere near the top 5.
this list reminded me how catchy celebrity skin is
>No Duster
shit list
innit
i was born that year, and no, I'm not underage, old fag. im turning 20 this year.
another reason to hate that fucking year
me too man but it's not something to be proud of
even more reason to call 98 fucking garbage
just when i thought '98 couldn't get any worse you stupid cunt
Stop embarrassing my birth year
wow, just when we thought it couldn't get any worse.
so Pitchfork is now going to do a yearly list of "best music of [20 years ago]" to replace the actual list they did that year so they can rewrite history and make it appear as if black music was always the best music each year? pretty orwellian desu
Stankonia triumphs over whites like Radiohead and GY!BE in 2000.
>OutKast number 1
>Not ITAOTS
the madmen.
Where is Downward Is Heaveneard by Hum?
Where is In/Casino/Out by At the Drive-In?
Where is Challenge for a Civilized Society by Unwound?
Post-hardcore got kinda thrown under the bus on this list
>Deserter Songs
>In the Top 100 Albums of the 90s
>Doesn't even break the top 25 of 1998
wew lad
LOL nah bro
How do you even give a less than 1/10 rating to a really inoffensive album.
idk
it was a really bizarre rating
The problem they had with it was that it was so inoffensive and safe
it wasn't really safe tho
it's the album they started fucking around with things and changing things up
It's interesting that even though their traffic has been declining every single year since they started this negro hip hop bullshit they keep doing it.
Hopefully they run out of money soon.

Maybe safe was the wrong word
Heres a wayback machine link because pitchfork deleted it in another attempt to rewrite history web.archive.org
my favourite line is "whatever an Arab Strap is" because it shows how little the reviewer knew about the Glasgow scene at the time
Yeah but even if that is the case in a extreme manner you don't give a fucking 1/10 lol that would mean it's one of the worst fucking things on the planet which is incredible unreal
What do you make of the cool set in London?
You're constantly updating your hit parade of your ten biggest wanks
She's a waitress and she's got style
P4k cant get more cucked than this.
I don't know what you're talking about, musically and culturally the lead up to the turn of the decade was pretty great
That's about where it is desu
They're owned by Condé Nast. All CN publications have been losing visitors for years but they keep at it. I'm sure they have plenty of wealthy benefactors pumping money to keep pushing the propaganda
Lmfaoooo
>muh rap and singer songwriters website
>expecting them to give any love to post hardcore
>ESPECIALLY any favorable review to a member of the mars volta that they don't have to
if it isn't relationship of command it will nary be mentioned
Outkast are good but man are they overrated
>ITAOTS
>Moon Pix
>Mezzanine
>American Water
>Electro-Shock Blues
>Moon Sarafi
>The Shape of Punk to Come
Fuck off.
Honestly that Lauryn Hill shit hasn't aged well and Miseducation in particular is choppier than its reputation. I don't have a problem with Aquemini getting #1 even though I think it's not a truly great album, but I'm convinced the only reason Miseducation got #2 is because of Pitchfork's shift in politics. ITAOTS is timeless and consuming whereas Miseducation is myopic, and in retrospect sounds like so much other music of its era.
