I know people are stupid, but I thought they went overboard beating the situation into peoples heads. Things like the Jenga tower, bathtub scene and stripper financials really took me out of the moment. Their use of swearing every 10 second seemed like a calculated decision to keep peoples attention.

WoWS was in the same vein as Good fellas. Kid starts with nothing and gets rich. Sex, drugs and gimme shelter with main character narration. Actually Scorsese ripped his own movie off.
I think there was an element to it making some kind of commentary on the fact that the organized crime we see now days is legitimized. At least the mob had the integrity to be actual criminals.
