I feel a bit redundant posting the same thing every time, but I hope you check it out!
This is animated 8-bit classical psychedelic movie thing I made. Took 3 1/2 years, and it was very much a learning project. So it's amateurish, but I'm still really proud of it, and the stuff I learned from it is going to carry into everything else I do now, so hopefully it's just the beginning.

I know it comes off bribey, but I will definitely reciprocate any feedback I get on the movie (on the actual video, not just a reply here). It'll at least be honest though, no placating.

how do you guys handle naming songs? specifically songs without a hook or chant
I just pick whatever comes to mind that fits the ideas of the song or just sounds good.
just make up a nice sounding phrase that gleans the overall tone or idea or emotion of the song
what song you trying to name?
i like sometimes naming the song something completely irrelevant

That sounds like a fairly good idea.
I've not recorded it yet but it's covers sudden existential thoughts occurring out of nowhere when yo're trying to sleep

Usually I'd name the songs after a certain sample that would occur in the song, but now I build the song around the names I'd think of months ahead.
The names are usually some reference that people might get, but having it still related to my personal life.
At the end of the day, it's just a title, it's not that big of a deal, but it is a part of the whole package nonetheless.
>soundcloud.com
This is cool, I like the heavy percussion that comes in especially, otherwise an interesting and kind of unnerving soundscape, cool stuff
New demo with a bipolar drum pattern
usually a name pops into my head based on the cadence of the tempo / melody / whatever, or I already have a name in my mind based on a lyric or theme
but it is hard though, to decide what the best name is

>first half is indie rock

This was a really pleasant surprise! I expected the standard lo-fi hip-hop drums to come in after the start slowed down, but instead it sounds almost like something off Sung Tongs. Great work!
I like the ideas here, but I feel it gets a little too repetitive at times. I feel either some extra instrumentation added might make it better.
If it's in the context of an album, do put more thought into it, but if it's like an one-off, then it's not that big of a deal.
Just make sure that it fits the overall aesthetics, that's it.
It's like having a buddy named Steve. Once you two really bond and you get to know him, you come to the conclusion that he acts like a Steve, dresses like a Steve and looks like a Steve!
I don't know if that makes any sense, I'm sorry, I'm just very sad right now.
Ayy, thanks for the honest feedback, I would like to add more instrumentation and that is helpful
The ambient stuff on Roanoke has a definite vibe and a nice twang sound that's pretty soft. Really nice work there
Your singing sounds fine, but it does sound like a lot of singers in this genre tend to and is mixed in that sort of way- not badly, it's just a sound I've heard a bit. Although I think the songwriting is good, I think the instrumentation is creative and well done, etc, so there are other things to differentiate
Do you really try and do a different genre each project? Because I think that ambient guitar stuff is so promising
>industrial, synth punk, noisey, yelling
Listened to a few tracks. I like Down Syndrome Angel the best, cause I'm a sucker for texture walls. Same with Bubbles of Opium Poison Me.
Also really impressed with the production in the first minute of Life is Smudged.
I liked the whole thing, but especially the last half. I think your stuff is the best when you just kinda let loose on the intensity.
Nah man, it makes perfect sense, I feel the name becomes a property of the song based on your experience of it's creation. Totally a special thing. But yeah, for a project that's supposed to feel a certain way, I think you need to look at the names too.
Sometimes I shy away from names that feel too obvious? Like just taking a chorus line and using it as the name can often feel a bit lazy

Thanks for the kind words, I really don't consider my voice my strong suit, so I'm not surprised that it doesn't stand out. As for the ambient guitar stuff, my whole first album is just that! It needs a remaster (I'm gonna release that on the one year anniversary), but if you like the ambient stuff on this, you'll probably like Petrichor. The "different genre every project" thing is just a loose guideline, I write a lot of that guitar stuff so I'll probably make an album of it maybe once a year when I have enough of it.
Thank you, I agree about intensity, the best part involved dynamics changing and loud noise. I'd like to make more melodic but also noisier, harsher music
That album art is dope, I'm listening to King Static and it reminds me a bit of Wolf Eyes, or something like that. The driving rhythmic bass into that static crash is awesome, nice work
nah man ive never seen maiden abcess idk what that is
I sampled the arm breaking scene & the Nanachi transformation for the beat lmao
Wowww

you have a lot of sounds competing here. I think the best use for the track is to keep the main sample and drums but add a vocal track on top of it. might be hard to do if you can't sing. I have to be honest it kind of just all mushes together to not really have a purpose. don't take this the wrong way please. I think you have a lot of potential.

Just learning how to add different things together and layering etc. Ignore the shit vocals. Are the guitars sounding OK like that?

dig the breakdowns so much.

YUH BUT IT HARD THO
desu tho i love the hardbass feel.
maybe a deeper bass and a tad bit more space could give you a lot of weight and make the whole jalopy shake.
Sewer People by Augustus the Great.
The highs at the start hurt my ears. A bit harsh. Really dig it when it drops. Good energy and ignorant as fuck.
I am digging the little robot noises thrown in there. Your idea for song idea is really cool too. Clean mix. Maybe could use more from the snare when it all drops though.
I really like the vocal samples on your latest track. Sets a really cool melody. The drums are pretty nice too. Cool stuff.
