Super mario bros sucked

>super mario bros sucked
>the jolie tomb raider movies sucked
>ratchet and clank sucked
>assasins creed sucked

will there ever be a good video game movie?

People were saying AC was good whats wrong with it?

No, just play MGSV if you want gamekino.

Not until Neil Blomkamp directs a Fallout movie.

Can't think of a good vidya movie besides perhaps... Prince of Persia which was lighthearted, looked great and just a competent small and compact adventure movie.

Tetris will be good.

>that abomination
>kino

kill yourself

Tomb Raider movie was A-oK

"You can make a bad film from a good script, but you can NEVER make a good film from a bad script."

- Oliver Stone

>vidya
>good story/script
>ever

Tropic Thunder says different. Most of the shit was adlibbed.

Yes

Warcraft was likeable, I thought

Christopher nolan made a good film from a bad script, twice.

>Not liking the Jolie Tomb Raider films

The only people I've ever met who didn't like those are SJWs and faggots. Any straight red blooded guy or girl loves those movies.

So tell me user, are you gay or an SJW? Surely you're not... Both?

No, they were shit. Jolie still in her prime is the only thing worth watching.

I think you're right, but I think what OP really wants is a video game movie based solely on an existing IP.

Mortal Kombat was awesome u faggot

Well that's enough of a reason to give it a pass. Prime Jolie running around in a bikini is better than 99% of the "stronk wimyn" bs in movies today. Also, at least she actually looks like she could knock your teeth out, unlike muh Mary Sue.

hardcore henry?

I read online that the movie sucked, but for whatever reason my mom, who didn't even know it was based on a video game saw it and she thought it was great. I don't know what to believe anymore

A HIND D?

Might have to do with expectations.

Tomb Raider was great ya dingus

and you thought wrong you fucking retard

>forcing yourself to like shit movies because they include a hot girl
>mental gymnastics until it's somehow political
What the fuck.

A HINE-EY?

Play Quantum Break.
It stars Aiden Gillen as the Gilles and the entire game feels like a movie.
You even get to pick choices as Gillen that will both impact the fake and the TV show.
After you finish an act, the TV immediately starts and it's worth the watch as it shows what else is going on besides the main character.
Certain items you pick up in the game can even pop up in the show that points out you're affecting time.

Great cinematic experience.

I mean villain*, not Gilles.

JJ is already on the job

That image is hilarious

>compressing 30 hours of gameplay into a single 2 hours feature length movie
Shouldn't expect anything but a disappointing end product.

Good. Maybe he'll fuck up so bad that Valve will be forced to release HL3 just to save face.

he will make a forgettable flick like hl2 eps 1 and 2

>FORCING

No user. Heterosexual men who don't cry when they see a woman in anything less than a burka actually subconsciously enjoy seeing good looking women.

I know, I know, it's misogynistic transphobic xenophobic white supremacy racist hate.

V hahahahahaha.

Your trolling is Canadian tier

The Layton movie was good in that it was 100% true to the games and had no major flaws, but it wasn't exactly a great story or anything.

that's a nice ass

You're looking a little flustered Mohammed.

what
what the fuck happened?

Y tho

Those were games, not flicks.

the vidya equivalent of flicks

breddy good flick imo

But Fallout is fucking garbage

4 maybe. 3 was adequate. NV was kino.

maybe, but it will require hollywood to take a much more patient attitude towards the whole thing

>video game story
>played out over 20+ hours of action with potentially several hours of dialogue

>movie story
>2, 3 hours maximum including all action scenes

what they need to do if they want to do a video game film is take a good video game SETTING and make a short story which fits in, maybe using some of the side characters from the game

then, they need to take a good basic STORY like they would for any other film - the setting shouldn't be the film itself, the setting should be a backdrop and the film should be about something entirely within that setting

for example, the recent warcraft film was garbage for these reasons:

- story too big for allotted time, too many threads and too many characters
- setting and story were basically fused together

if they wanted to make a GOOD film, then they should take something which fits in 2 hours

>make 1 or 2 good characters
>develop their arcs
>tell ONE story rather that the 10 they try to

Warcraft and Assassin's Creed were okay.

Not as bad as Mario Bros, Mortal Kombat, Max Payne, or Ratchet. They are far from great movies, but not as bad as reviews are saying.

>>>video game story
>>played out over 20+ hours of action with potentially several hours of dialogue

It's been decades and every video game story is still shit.

good flicks tho. ;)

I don't see the difference.

>directed by refn
>source material pic related
There, I just saved vidyakino

The Witcher has a more enjoyabe story than a lot of movies.

Silent Hill was good in that it's a perfectly serviceable horror movie that pays homage to its source material.

>five minute scenes of Ryan Gosling driving a car listening to music with during sunset with passing palm trees

Yeah, sure.

>ywn be fired from your awesome job at konami for going over budget creating a realistic virtual Joosten that you can VR fuck at home

the story is trash

No.

They missed their chance at vidya kino when Halo fell through.
It's a simple enough story that had a great team backing the movie.

The top is pre-rendered footage that isn't gameplay, just a straight cinematic, intended to wow people for the initial announcement of the game.
At best, it's a representation of the original concept of the game.

The bottom image is a blurry screenshot from a stream of the actual game, while the game is still in development.
The game will likely look substantially better than the bottom, but will be much more in that vein.

It's a shitty Sup Forums meme, meant for shitposting.
Classic "Sup Forums hates videogames" shenanigans.
They just want to call people fanboys and shit on things.

When will Sup Forumseddit leave us in peace?

Yes, when the trailer does not mention the video game nor attempts teen demographics.

I think a Soul Calibur movie could work.

A straight up quipfest adventure with Kilik, Xianghua and Maxi.
Or Taki and Sophitia trying to take down Cervantes.

>That part at the end where he says "The big picture was too big for you"

>Leave videokino to us

I would probably to see them put an actor in that crazy voldo getup.
If talim is in it, then I'm definitely sold.

Silent Hill

>tfw Max Payne sucked
you had one fucking job
i know the story seems cliche, but they fucked the comfy/sad feeling

Everyone seems to forget about Resident Evil.

Most vidya movies completely ignore the game's script and just do their own shit.

t. Video Games Expert

Fucking this. They cost no money to make and I think every single one of them has made at least 200 million, and there is 6 of them.

No matter how goofy and bad they might be, at the end of the day they're consider a success.
