Ahem
Come on man go away, let this be a jazz thread

>let this be a jazz thread

>picking one best jazz album for all of the 60's
pleb as it gets

What are your favorite jazz albums, user?

...

Not like posting OK Computer, that's a Sup Forums first.

>Best jazz album of the sixties
>Not posting Coltrane

all jazz before ECM is utterly shit-tier

I don't even know who is baiting who anymore.

...

all jazz is utter shit tier

i'm not even trying to troll here, all music before the 70s is boring as fuck

Are you gonna use that as an argument to refute circlejerking the same Radiohead album again?

>Enters a thread about a genre he specifically doesn't like
>"I'm not even trying to troll here"
Eric, simply eric.

It's either that or Black Saint, but those are le entry level xD so I'll namedrop this one instead

Most entry level jazz albums are simultaneously patrician.

Much like OP's album, everybody knows about this. Would be nice to hear about some deep catalog albums.

>everybody knows about this

Is it me or does he look sort of like Moe from The Simpsons here?

And in general really

Dubs don't lie.

The Contrarian's A Love Supreme

this is proto-ambient, tho.

>this is proto-ambient, tho.

Daily reminder that Victor Wooten is an idiot who thinks enharmonic keys can be practiced in.

There's a difference between reading a piece in B major and Cb major.

All Jazz is trash

racist

Hit me with some good renditions of Dolphin Dance, boys

>tripfag

I am quite the fan of jazz that takes a variety of different approaches through a single album.

John Coltrane - A Love Supreme
Jimmy Giuffre - Free Fall
Albert Ayler - Spiritual Unity

In terms of 60s jazz. It's fascinating how different approaches to COMPOSITION makes a huge difference in an IMPROVISATIONAL medium.

Also honorable mentions to the Indian jazz combo stuff of Joe Harriet Double Quartet. Those records are so busy yet interesting sounding.

Brainlet here, but what's the difference?

Post some jazz essentials i'm interested.

What do you usually listen to?

Trap

ahem

what do you like about it?

quite a good one if I do say so myself, although I prefer Happenings
I see that has already given the (You)

>obligatory Herbie post

how it looks on the retarded music staff. Its pretty much irrelevant for a jazz player

I lied, I don't like trap. I'm also not the guy you responded too.

That's not even the best jazz album of 1969

As long as we all agree this was the best jazz album of the 50's

...

yo wtc don cherry's sweater desu senpai

I did like the jazz in TPaB, anything similar to that?

Im that guy and i dont appreciate you responding for me

I'm very sorry, I won't do it again. I hope someday you'll find it in your heart to forgive me, although I am unworthy of your forgiveness.

Recently discovered old jazz, any recommendations, all I know is John Coltrane and miles Davis

yeah, honestly, after listening to THIS DICK AINT FREEEEEE again i would probably have to recc Miles Davis's live stuff from the mid 60s, its definitely essential and i think the loose recklessness will appeal to you. My favorite records by that group are probably Four and More, My Funny Valentine, Live in Tokyo, Live at the Plugged Nickel, Miles in Berlin, and Live in Europe 1967 bootleg series Vol. 1. I'd also say Booker Ervin's records that had a lot to do with inspiring Miles in that period, The Freedom Book and The Space Book are my favorites. Joe Henderson's In n Out might also be good. also everything Coltrane recorded from My Favorite Things until A Love Supreme so from 61 to 64, if you like experimental or spiritual music then for the love of god keep going into Trane's 65 to 67 recordings and then stop listening to music because it will never get better then Tranes later period. sorry it took me awhile to respond and its unorganized, i just had to fucking review a Louis Armstrong recording for a class and i didnt have shit to say about it so im tired.

It's the best prog/trance album of the 60's.

Thanks man I'll check those out, rest well

that album is pretty good, lads. check it out.
