Why even bother?

He was the best.

I actually preferred Iron Man to it at release. At least overall anyway. Better pacing did a lot for me. Though the Joker performance was incredibly stand out I just didn't care for much else.

I still like Batman Begins over both.

the more you distance the movie from comic book dynamics the better it becomes. TDK was less a comic book movie and more like a heist movie with comic book stuff in it

>infantalizing manchild "entertainment"

big media cucold

This. All 3 of them are, that's what makes them so great. They're actual movie experiences that you will remember unlike marvel movies of today, they're more like a shit TV show that never ends

This; my preferred ones were DK (for the reasons this user posted) and Watchmen because it deconstructed.

The rest goes from "meh" to "shit", Nolan included.

Why, Nolan?

This. His performance tricked everybody into thinking Nolan was a good director.

Original

This.

I loved Iron Man because it was different to every other super hero movie out there. Begins is my favorite too but Ledger's Joker is probably the best villain in any superhero movie ever.

Besides Hellboy 2, Spiderman 2, and X2. There are no superhero films that are like it. They have equal parts got the tone right and the superhero right.

>Ledger's Joker
He is fantastic but it's also not like he's got much competition.

That is true, but regardless, he gives a top notch performance. I never see Heath Ledger while watching the movie. Shame he died, between him and Michelle Williams they would've been the most powerful couple acting-wise.

>comic book movie
Comics is a medium, not a genre. Not all comics are geek culture oriented kiddie shit you know. There are much better movies out there based on comics.

>American Splendor
>Ghost World
>Road to Perdition

I think My Friend Dahmer will be pretty good too. The comic is one of the best I've read.

>My Friend Dahmer
fuck no, it's an edgy holden caulfield fest, the author is a shit artist and writer, and he's so fucking proud that he knew him, 0/10 comic

Watchmen is better. Yes Snyder sucks, and it's a bit lifeless. But it's better than TDK based on the ideas it presents alone, as well as its characters.

Also Hellboy 2 seems, pretty obviously, to be the best film adapted from a comic to come out.

>Watchmen is better

This movie is fucking shit and i can't understand why this kind of retarded fantasy is so popular, it don't even fit good with the batman spirit, it's for edgy 12 years old thinking Batman is realistic and 2DEEP.

let's settle this once for all

TDK was a good movie but a bad Batman movie

Begins is a better film.
Heath Ledger is amazing in TDK.
Bale is a decent Bruce Wayne, a boring Batman, Affleck is better.

>begins is a better film
contrarian autism

>Comics is a medium, not a genre. Not all comics are geek culture oriented kiddie shit you know. There are much better movies out there based on comics.

>American Splendor
>Ghost World
>Road to Perdition

and TDK mops the floor with the lot of them.

Still not better than pic related

Are you serious? Derf is great. Punk Rock and Trailer Parks is a bit better than My Friend Dahmer though. Wish they made that one into a film instead.

>and he's so fucking proud that he knew him
Nah, I don't see it that way. I think Derf's book is a lot different from documentaries and other books about Dahmer. It's not true crime porn or explotation in that sense.

>and TDK mops the floor with the lot of them.
How? It's an action flick about a super hero. It's for kids and nerds.

...

Part with the two boats should have been cut

I don't understand what makes a batman better than the other. They hardly speak. Is it just the way they sound?

>and TDK mops the floor with the lot of them.

Jesus Fucking Christ, Sup Forums

When you think a board cannot disappoint you anymore.

>American Splendor
Not a comic
>Ghost World
Not a comic
>Road to Perdition
Not a comic

Either way, don't compare existentialist stories to super hero antics, you utter pleb.

Tell that to Zack Snyder. He thinks he can do better than Nolan. He thinks better = darker.

He's like: TDK was dark? I'll show you dark!

So we get serial killer Batman (who probably killed at least 100 criminals if not more), and jars of piss.

I am a Sup Forums migrant, only one week new to this board, and I cannot tell for the life of me whether you people are being ironic or serious.

Wow you're one of those autists who actually care batman kills

The first 2 spidermans

>comic book movie
its not even that

Which part?

Men In Black deserves a mention here

I like iron man too but after that god tier reveal the final battle was meh in comparison.

Dark knight builds and buolds and gives you one hell of a payoff that ties in all the mobies themes nicely

Literally every post.

Every time you people compliment a film there is a hint of scorn. Every time you people rip on a film there is a hint of praise. I can't tell if its all one big inside joke or if you are all are just being genuinely two-faced.

He was too good. Now every incarnation of the Joker has to be Le edgy anarchy dude or else fanboys will shit on it.

Where has anyone criticised a film while it also sounding like praise?

What the fuck do you mean Ghost World isn't a comic?

Because it's a great movie with some great concepts in it, some even political and philosophical elements well fit. Ironically the "comicbooky" parts of it is what drags it down

Why do people like Spider-Man 2 so much? The romance is awful and he's not even Spider-Man for like half the movie.

Is it just because of Doc Ock and the train scene?

batman returns was best batman film

HAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAH
>fter announcing his new comics interpretation with 2005's oppressively grim Batman Begins, Nolan continues the intellectual squalor popularized in his pseudo-existential hit Memento. Appealing to adolescent jadedness and boredom, Nolan revamps millionaire Bruce Wayne's transformation into the crime-fighter Batman (played by indie-zombie Christian Bale), by making him a twisted icon, what the kids call "sick."
>The Dark Knight has no black-and-white moral shading. Everything is dark, the tone glibly nihilistic (hip) due to The Joker's rampage that brings Gotham City to its knees-exhausting the D.A. and nearly wearing-out Batman's arsenal of expensive gizmos. Nolan isn't interested in providing James Bond?style gadgetry for its own ingenious wonder; rather, these crime battle accoutrements evoke Zodiac-style "process" (part of the futility and dread exemplified by the constantly outwitted police).
>This pessimism links Batman to our post-9/11 anxiety by escalating the violence quotient, evoking terrorist threat and urban helplessness. And though the film's violence is hard, loud and constant, it is never realistic-it fabricates disaster simply to tease millennial death wish and psychosis.
Watchmen is better than this pseudo-intellectual Nolancrap.

watchmen was good but reading the comic afterwards makes the movie feel quite terrible, especially how they downplayed so much from the comic which would have made the movie better

1 is better i think.

>Why do people like Spider-Man 2 so much?
better question:

why 2 and not 1 or 3?
how do you people are able to discern between them?

do you really remember what happened in any of those movie or is this joke?

Does anyone know who the villain is going to be for the solo batman film? I'd love to see the penguin finally being brought to life, also maybe throw in the riddler, not necessarily in person but you could have him intercept batmans transmissions or something, then that could possibly become something bigger in the future movies, or riddler could give batman hints as to what penguin up to

It's not outright praise. It's more subtle than that. You guys seem to be operating on multiple levels of irony. Either that or I'm just not familiar with the Sup Forums culture yet.

Like for example this thread. I can't tell if Sup Forums hates or likes Nolan. Judging from the bane memes, I would assume Sup Forums is very criical of him, yet this thread is full of apparent praise.

Maybe I'm just too used to the Sup Forums hivemind, and differing opinions seem alien to me. Is it possible that two opposing opinions on a board can exist at the same time? I would have assumed one opinion would have been memed to death and eventually stamped out- as is the case with most Sup Forums disagreements.

his whole thing is not killing, its like when spiderman is depicted as a chad

*critical

>Judging from the bane memes, I would assume Sup Forums is very criical of him, yet this thread is full of apparent praise.
We are talking about TDK, not TDKR.

batfleck>balebat

>Maybe I'm just too used to the Sup Forums hivemind, and differing opinions seem alien to me. Is it possible that two opposing opinions on a board can exist at the same time? No. There are arguments in almost every single thread. A lot of people dislike Snyder as an example, but I actually like him.

no actual super powers

keeps it fairly "realistic" and makes all the characters more relatable

the dark knight trilogy are a great set of movies but at the same time i really hate how they begun a trend of reboots and dark gritty shit

tv is less about tv than pol is about politics. plus theres way too many memers and people who think everything is reddit (both are cancer)

Yea but I've seen other threads where Sup Forums absolutely trashes Nolan. Isn't he the origin of the BRAVO ________ meme?

you appear to be a decent human being

as for your question, lurk moar

I like the first one better but I like that poster best. It fit because both are better than anything in the Dark Knight Trilogy (not to say the dark knight trilogy was bad, Spider-Man was just better)

The first 2 are God tier

Are you being ironic right now?

You can't take anything seriously now with marvel though. Every scene there is a joke, it ruins any potential the film's may have (even though they're all practically shit anyway) because you know nothing surprising is going to happen. Just the same shit each movie. That's why DCEU is better

That's the plan. I didn't post on Sup Forums for 8 months. I am just beginning to learn about Sup Forums culture and I'm glad you guys were able to answer my initial questions. I look forward to peacefully assimilating into your society.

I actually like watchmen but it's a rollercoaster of quality. there are long streaks of shit in that movie.

pretty much every point in tdk is fairly entertaining and at least well produced

No. Unlike on pol where everyone is basically on the same side, anti immigration, racists etc. People on here prefer different things

>loves BvS
>hated TDK

jesus fucking christ

to everything like this the original is great but the copycats suck. look at napoleon dynamite. great movie but it started that shitty random humour trend

Fucking redditors.

it really grinds my gears that people give Snyder any praise for Watchmen

all he did is a semi-adequate adaptation of the comic.

everything you liked about it is from the comic.

It's a love/hate thing. Even most of the Nolan haters like his older stuff. He's mocked because he used to be great, before he crashed his rtistic integrity with no survivors.

I agree, but I think that for a comic considered unfilmable he did a great job.

I think he kept the spirit of the comic in most of the movie. Let's say it looks like a movie from someone that "got" watchmen, is a great feat, and I did not expect it from him.

No, he actually likes Snyder. His taste is genuinely shit.

>I look forward to peacefully assimilating into your society.

we welcome refugees.

pls no raep

yeah i agree however i ultimately think it didnt really need a movie just the same as how 1984 didnt need 2 movies.

Watchmen is borderline insulting with its lack of subtlety.

It's a worse insult than MoS because with Watchmen, all Snyder had to do was adapt an already existing story and even then he had to indulge himself with visuals instead of actually understanding what made the story great. His use of music is the worst part of that shitfest.

Zack Snyder is the Brett Ratner of comic book movies and I can't wait until he finally stops.

I'd argue a Watchmen movie was more needed now than then.

I am happy he did it. Remembering it exists purges my mind from capeshit.

>Even most of the Nolan haters like his older stuff. He's mocked because he used to be great, before he crashed his artistic integrity with no survivors.

this. it makes it so much worse

why you say Snyder misunderstood Watchmen?
And some of the songs are used in the book as well.

Not really, it's geek culture oriented.

it aged like milk

So I've been playing the Arkham games and I'm on Origins right now. The bat suit in that one is pretty fucking good looking. Why haven't they tried to emulate that look in any of the movies?

All of those are comics. I think he just meant soemthing else.

in that sense yes but capeshit is just a trend right now that appeals to plebs and hyper critics

What an idiot you are. I hear TONS of people who like Batman Begins the most. It's really not hard at all to believe since it's so different than the second two, and everyone knows TDKR sucks.

Have you even seen the ones mentioned? I bet you haven't since they are targeted towards adults and not kids.

>why you say Snyder misunderstood Watchmen?

youtube.com/watch?v=evrbXKspeAs

this.

Begins best movie.

TDK boring, TDKR shlock.

>the penguin finally being brought to life

what did he mean by this?

or to elaborate:

in Snyder's mind, superheroes are still cool, kung-fu slow-motion roundkicking quippers

this is exactly the thing Watchmen (the book) tries to dissolve

>TDK was less a comic book movie and more like a heist movie
The heist was over within the first two minutes of the movie.

>The Dark Knight
>good

What's wrong? Watchmen was over the top and bloody for its time, afaik. Here snyder goes overboard for the same reasons.

True that makes them a tad bit over the top (in the comic, everybody is completemy human barring Ozy a bit over and of course Manhattan).

But the point it brings home is that they are superheroes, they do what people NOW expect from supes.

Also, there is still the sexual tension at the end of the scene. THAT is the point to bring home - that these two are two abnormals that have capes as fetish, among other things.

yah, he can overact great job

>mfw if he wasn't dead people would be "he ok" to his performance
>mfw an over actor over acts
>mfw people say its the best joker but don't realize it was the writing that made him good, not keith deader.

but you gotta be nice to the dead guys and girls.
so "he will be missed and no one will ever be as good as this excellent actor"

Ok, some of the gore scenes were unnecesary as some songs, but other than that it was a good movie.

>Actor get praised
>LOL THEY DO IT BECAUSE HE IS DEAD

He doesn't even come close to the Arkham Joker.

But the Watchmen heroes are cool kung fu asskickers. I don't really remember any quips from the movie.

straw man: the argument

It isn't even the best film in the trilogy.
