God-tier bassists

>Alex James
Underrated. I've never known someone who can make such amazing basslines.

I think Dir en Grey's bassist is crazy underrated.
Way more in his consistency than any example I can give.

The bassline in this one starts at 0:10

John Paul Jones is super underrated.

Oh shit, this is great. Is the album worth a listen? i love the spoken word parts reminds me of Mike Patton or something.

Did someone mention underrated bassists?

Don't let this cloud your vision, Alex James is a sexual assaulter

#TIMES UP

Hey I'm glad, it might depend on your taste, I really like them. That album bounces around a bit. It's a grower but really good. Macabre would be their best album I think if it was more consistent in what sound it was going for. They started as jpop/visual kei, went more progrock/alternative, then more alternative, then more numetal, then more death metal, then more their own thing kinda.
Weird growth but they've done all that they've done really well and I feel like they got their sound through their own volition, not through influence or trying to fit a genre.

RIP Paul Gray

>playing guitar/bass with longs sleeves
just look at this gives me anxiety

>Slipknot
>Bass lines that are more than just root notes
Good bait.

and actually Kyo gets compared to Mike Patton a bit for his vocal capabilities.

i genuinely forgot this guy died

Tesco value Jonny Greenwood

Not really, apart from them both having similar hair cuts and being white and British.

Yes, but he was even better with synths.

I'd post Peter Hook if he wasn't a colossal cunt

He's a good guy

I haven't heard this, but I'm genuinely curious because I love Peter Hook's stuff :( Why's he's a cunt?

Tina Weymouth

I really like thundercat

>announce the band is retiring when really it's just you leaving
>sue the band for millions for continuing to play after you leave
>exclaim that you're going to obsessively follow the band and fuck them over
>make a new band with other former New Order members
>make fun of the new bass player
>for some reason get upset that when they reform for a new album and you aren't invited

why can't he make peace with the rest of new order? they're too old to stay mad at each other

...

Damn. That's unfortunate

the most underrated bassist in all of Japan's history

Carlos Dengler is underrated but not at the same time if you know what i mean?

so underrated in fact that he hated his instrument and his band and therefore retired

He wanted to be apart of the TOTBL Anniversary though.

*blocks your path*

>David Pajo
>bass
>Kim Gordon

jesus christ i'm not reading this fucking list

>Literally a whole white list
I guess we know where his loyalties lay.

>Tina Weymouth

Lou Barlow

Underrated also, i liked his song about J Mascis

youtube.com/watch?v=Um7kFyLmrQI

I always wonder how many of his basslines were written by J, apparently all of Bug was, but I hope he at least wrote the one for Forget the Swan and In A Jar himself, those two are super fun to play.

The beginning of Essex Dogs sounds like my laptop

Yeah, I love playing those! First dino song I could play on bass was The Leper

Roger Patterson
youtube.com/watch?v=L0OA_hczhWc

J was apparantly a control-freak according to Murph and Lou

Yeah but during the early days Lou had some say on the stuff he played and he also wrote a few songs, plus Lou has a really defined style I sincerely doubt J wrote the basslines with the double stops like Tarpit or Raisans.

trevor dunn
t. actual bass player

I wouldn't be surprised if everyone posting here is an actual bass player, no one cares about bass players but other bass players so.

Trevor Dunn is a damn genius though.

True. Tarpit is fucking great btw

I would've never picked up bass in the first place if I didn't care about bass players at some point.
