>Send song you think is hauntingly beautiful to friend
>"wow, this is disturbing, you could put this in a horror movie or something"

>having friends
it's your fault, normie

what song friend?

>"is it all like this?"

>"lol is this disney music?"
IT'S KATE BUSH YOU NORMIE FUCK REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

>this would be a good song if we were in the 70s

What the fuck does that even mean?

>Showed Probation Officer In The Areoplane Over The Sea and then in the end it turned out that he actually liked it and wants to listen to it again.

>"AAIIIIIII LOOOOVE YOOOOOOOUUU JESUUUUUUS CHARIIIIIIIIIIIST"

>play demo for friend
>"it's...pretty good"

It's outdated, dude. The song is obsolete in the present day. While there are many works of music that still sound as beautiful today as it was 20-30 years ago, clearly some songs just don't age well at all. They feel bland compared to newer, more innovative works. I don't know the song in particular you showed, but maybe it's not as archaic as they think.

That's the stupid thing, it was God Only Knows.

>play joanna newsom for friend
>she immediately starts laughing
>i try to play it cool because i understand how off-putting her voice can be but also am secretly hurt because i identify so strongly with this music that it makes me feel as if i'm the one being laughed at

literally written in 1966
it was a good song in the 70s
it was a good song in the 80s
it was a good song in the 90s
it was a good song in the 00s
it is a good song in the 10s
it will be a good song in the 20s

I identify with this song so much but I can never show anyone because it's fucking weird.

show them the best songs on the album first.

i don't think many people listen to albums from start to finish anymore

>talking to friend about sad songs
>put on the Glow Pt. 2
>they laugh when he starts singing

Feelsbadman.

>Play song for a friend
>"haha yea that's really chill"

I don't think I'd ever want to meet any Sup Forumstants in real life but if we ever did it'd be nice to just listen to each other's music together, because I'm assuming we all understand and respect that all these songs mean something to each of us, as opposed to most normies where it's just a noise that sounds good or bad

i've never seen that before, user. thank you for sharing. incredibly honest stuff, it's making me dwell on all of my regrets.

>send album to friend
>"hey this is really good you should listen"
>doesn't respond at all and plays a video game instead

I NEED MUSIC FRIENDS

luckily i think the message is precisely the opposite, don't bother with dwelling on regrets, they're already gone
there's still something crushing about it though

I kept a few friends from last.fm threads and we have such a similar taste and listen to music together on plug.dj till 4 AM sometimes and we both love each song we play and it's just the best ever.
Being able to actually connect through music with someone irl is a big dreem.

I agree. I actually became friends with a coworker and he introduced me to the Mars Volta. I fell in love with them and so naturally I talk to him about them a lot. I always stop and apologize because normally I annoy people when I talk passionately about music but he says its fine and he completely understands how I feel. It's weird but it definitely made me a little happy.

>play song for a friend
>he says that was great and asks what the name of it is
Doesn't happen often but when it does it's pretty gucci

>friend and I exchange albums we want each other to listen to
>friend talks a ton about the album he recced me
>I ask him about mine
>"oh yea it was good"

>implying they will aprecciate anything but the extremely accesible single
relatable

Modern women are low iq sheep. What did you expect?

late reply but youtube.com/watch?v=hQZfGa5t4e8

You fucking serious?
Whoever you showed this to is a pleb. That song is 10/10.

>play a pretty obscure Indie Pop song at a dormitory party
>three people come up and ask what band it is

what song

It's a Swedish band who sings in Swedish

Love that album

Pretty cool user, I can imagine it working nicely in some kind of horror movie.

>playing ping pong with a couple of friends on a cold winter night
>we take turns in playing, and one of us gets to wait for a while
>listening to F#A#Inf
>my turn
>suggest to friend that he continues to listen to what I was listening
>ok
>he actually likes it
>suggest him LYSF
>gives it a couple of trys
>meh
>listened to it yesterday from beginning to end
>loved it so much he listened to i again
>tfw someone who only listens to normal hip hop and eminem and never listened to an album before, let alone a post-rock album, likes it so much he listens to it twice without interruptions
>spent the whole day talking about it with eachother

Gybe is trash

>play song for a friend
>"dude that shit's funky"
not sure if he listened closely much further but it did grab his attention

Be someone else please, nobody likes you

You are trash

I thought it was really nice.

>put on Long Season at a small party, about 10 people, all normies
>they keep it on in the background without complaints till the part where shinji starts screaming
>"Can we turn this off, user?"
>feelsbadman

>be me
>at spring break, getting turnt chilling on a boat with some cuties
>put on John Cage's 4'33
>they keep looking at me like i'm an idiot
>put some music on user!

Fuck is wrong with this generation?

>play a track for a buddy
>he immediately starts talking over the music

>show Coil - Fire of the Mind to a friend
>ask him what he thought
>"the singer was kind of bad"

>recommend courtney and kurt to Sup Forums
>they tell me its hipster trash and to fuck off

And he would be right. Coil is just meh

yup these have happened to me

Fuck yea user, nobody else talks about how great this album is here

>so, user, they will not sing anything?

To each their own...

> play friend home recording you worked on for days
> "it's pretty good, but you should sing better"

Why can't normies appreciate music? How do I make them understand?

Were they trying to make a reference to Love and Cobain or was it just a coincidence?

>those comments
Jesus christ
