Based on what I've been able to glean, it sounds like someone at her old record label Arbutus Records is screwing with her ability to release music through her current label 4AD out of spite since whatever Grimes' current deal with 4AD is, it was made while Arbutus was still running the show for her. Meaning that they most likely have some sort of veto power over whatever she wants to release until her current deal is up (probably after this next album.)
