how do i make a practice schedule for guitar, bass and singing with focus on being a world class musician, i'm lost
Hunter Clark
How the fuck do people not change their strings every 2 weeks or so? If my strings get even a little bit corroded it feels uncomfortable and the treble strings lose a lot of their volume. Every time someone says "I haven't changed my strings in months!" my reaction is always fucking how?
Grayson James
name some meme pedals/effects, /gg/. pedals that are both known and notorious/hyped online for whatever reason, but also really impractical with little scope for application.
shit like the Miku Stomp and Boss HM-2. not shit like the Klon Centaur. even though that's overhyped, it's not practically unusable. and not shit like Dwarfcraft The Great Destroyer, because hardly anyone knows what that is.
William Gonzalez
Get Elixirs and they won't corrode quickly. Trust me on this one fa,m .
Evan Cooper
heres the messages from the old thread formatted. Im the bassist, d-do i really come off as weird like the other anons said?
Hey man! I saw your ad for a bassist and was wondering if its still available and where in Devon you are located? Im a relatively new player and never played with other people before but Im really dedicated to improving and would love to try, hopefully that isnt a problem. Looking forward to your response!
how old are you? Do you have studio?
Im 20 years old and dont have a studio.
what is your full name? Do you have mic? Or guitar or drum?
Haha I got a mic on my computer but not one for singing if thats what youre asking. Im Kevin and play bass guitar.
kek, im not sure if i want to keep talking to this guy
Eli Johnson
>Every time someone says "I haven't changed my strings in months!" my reaction is always fucking how? because we're cheapskates and more often than not, don't play live. if you're playing live a lot in sweaty venues, they degrade faster. if you're a bedroom casual who spends more time talking shit in /gg/ than practicing, the ROI on a new set of strings isn't really worth it.
Camden Watson
How is the HM-2 unusable? It can get you sounds from basic Judas Priest style metal to full on Death Metal? It's one of the most usable distortion pedals out there.
Landon Morris
They're not really unusable, you're right, but using a HM-2 or an MT-2 pigeonholes you into a very specific sound for which they're notorious.
Not really though. It just happens that a bunch of people buy HM-2s to do the dimed "chainsaw" entombed sound. I think it's a great pedal with the distortion and mids turned down a bit, the "chainsaw" setting sounds like shit to me.
Thomas Butler
Figure out what you need to work on then work on it, how you gonna be world class if you cant figure this out yourself
Hunter Edwards
disgusting shit the pajeet post here
Luis Edwards
>and not shit like Dwarfcraft The Great Destroyer, because hardly anyone knows what that is.
it's a self-oscillating fuzz with some random telephone parts thrown in
Brody Parker
Pretty much this. I change them about once a year. I dont gig anymore, but when I did, I changed them a few days before a show and got them set in good.
It does help to wipe them down after playing, storing the guitar in a case helps too. My state is pretty dry, I contend with dust and pollen more than rust and corrosion.
Luke Morris
>If my strings get even a little bit corroded not everyone lives near the beach under the bridge or in a dank cave user
Connor Gonzalez
Does anyone have any tips/pointers or exercises that focus on tempo? Just following tempo and beats.
I've been playing bass for 10 years and can always play on beat with a drummer but the metronome fucking kills me and I have to record a few tracks to a metronome and it's driving me nuts, never practiced with one.
Any metronome-intensive exercises appreciated.
Bentley Nelson
I live in a swamp and have no corrosion problems, I do wipe after playing, and wash my hands before, helps I use nickels and live in a climate contolled house. Still change them every couple of months. Maybe you should wash your hands after you pee pee.
Adrian Kelly
What good cheap tuners are out there? Is pic related worth it? What brands should I look into?
Adrian Ross
WAKE UP MAGGIE I THINK I'VE GOT SOMETHING TO SAY TO YOU
Gavin King
youtube's pretty cheap
Mason Lee
Snark clip on 5 bucks. Best pedal TC'c polytune/2 100 bucks
Luis Gutierrez
>not shoping roman in the audience. not subtle
Josiah Howard
I imagine clip ons are not as precise as those, which have input connectors.
Dominic Taylor
On the billboard.
Sebastian Jenkins
i got the korg clip-on and it can't track my p-bass' fucking low E
Christopher Ward
what's a cheap but decent amp to go with a standard strat? I don't really know what to pick up from here, especially for this guitar
Zachary Garcia
You would be partly correct, the snark is good and accurate. I can't rec the Boss clip on, I have one and hate it although it is right on the cent. I can tune with either and they match the Polytune. I wouldn't use a clip on for setting intonation. Polytune's strobe mode is excellent.
Charles Roberts
>mfw have a Alien Mars EL34 alltube amp
Jayden King
What's your price range?
Evan Perez
around $250.
Alexander Green
monoprice tube amp then wait until it hit the $134 hotspot
Dylan Powell
>see my idols talk about how Beatles harmonies and melodies and songwriting etc are great >they jam some songs and it sounds like r&b and pop songs >listen to beatles classics >it sounds like psychodelic mud with tons of effects and annoying nasal vocals
Julian Butler
Also what do you play mostly?
Dylan Rivera
yes its called metronome
Tyler Gray
mostly clean, lead stuff
Justin King
xd
Asher Brown
I can never hit the 134 number or I would get it for shits and giggles.
Ayden Price
fender's tuner app is free
Xavier Bennett
Alright, finally and completely done with it. Had to do some minor adjustments (pole pieces didn't align on one split coil pickup and they couldn't be adjusted high enough) and I shielded the entire thing, it's as quiet as a mouse now. It obviously looks horrendous but I'm very pleased with how it turned out honestly.
Hudson Ortiz
ugh you shoulda done just the P-bass pickup........
Hudson Bell
where is rickenbro
did he die....
Owen Jackson
But the humbucker up close to the neck sounds really nice.
Jayden Butler

>he thinks the wood a fret-board is made of makes a difference in sound >he thinks the wood the neck is made of makes a difference in sound >he thinks the wood the body is made of makes a difference in sound >he thinks the bolt-on vs set neck vs neck through makes a difference in sound >he thinks the pickups makes a difference in sound >he thinks the scale length makes a difference in sound >he thinks the amp makes a difference in sound >he thinks the strings makes a difference in sound >he thinks the nut makes a difference in sound >he thinks the bridge makes a difference in sound
Literally all guitars and amps sound exactly the same and every difference is cosmetic. >b-but single coils have more high end than humbuckers!!!! a vox has more treble than a marshall!! I need an orange or a peavy or a mesa boogie to play metal!!! Nice job falling for the guitar industry snake oil pitches loser!
Christopher Morales
Why didn't this guitar single handedly put Gibson out of business the instant EBMM added it to their lineup in 2013?
I know I'm gonna get hate for the Jem. But In my defense I do regret not saving up for a Suhr.
Also why is digitech hated so much around here?
Will rare anyone else's gear and playing.
Levi Cooper
lol if you think all guitars sound the same you're a fucking moron
Carson Davis
>focus on exotic scales for the longest time >build muscle memory for those scales >cant mindlessly play pentatonic anymore without jumping to other scales
Asher Cooper
>practicing with a STRING DAMPER >I do regret not saving up for a Suhr. you shouldn't. You are not going to like their fretboard radius. >My silent nylon string guitar so you can play music and not only exercises. I'm not busting your balls or anything, but why don't you try to play something like this with your electrics? It's not like you have to miss every beat and play in a monospeed just because it's electric.
David Cox
im sorry it must suck to be dumb
Hudson Butler
Yeah, because you don't train your ear. You'll get way further at memorizing scales with ear training than muscle memory and also knowing what notes are in the scale and where they all are on the fretboard.
You should be able to get to a point that you "hear" scales in your head and put it to your hands without even thinking. Don't just mindlessly plain them and ignore your ear you'll never retain shit nearly as well.
Matthew Cook
The Jam is fine, although I'm not a fan of the clear pickguard. In terms of playing, you should probably slow down a little bit. Your sweeping is fine but like, not anything I'd want to listen to in the middle of an actual song.
Your jazz playing is way too schizophrenic. You have some good arpeggio ideas but when you take off into the 16th note runs you lose that sense of melody and also seem to have a hard time keeping the rhythm. Slow it down, work on your swing feel with eighth notes, and learn some more jazz vocabulary. Nice hollowbody btw.
The Animal Crossing shit was nice.
Connor Campbell
>plain
I meant play them.
Ryder Peterson
i don't see how that's a problem
Jason Phillips
i enjoy my ear
Levi Nelson
semi hollow vs hollowbody?
Oliver Gray
No problem man. I honestly lied about practicing, I was actually working on something. I'm trying to work on my studio so I can make a Jason Becker like album, I really like neo-classical. But I also love Guthrie Govan/Alex Hutchings fusion lol.
Thanks man. I really appreciate positively in Sup Forums for once.

Christopher Moore
>this is a custom shop guitar
It looks like a 200 dollar guitar with a 200 dollar flame maple top
think about it- >black painted headstock (instant nope on any guitar) >ugly gloss plastic pickup rings and bobbins >rosewood fretboard with almost no grain in it with no inlays >plain maple neck
And if they were going for a classic style, why use the body of a super strat, and have regular strat hardware and specs? I would rather have a strat that looks like a strat, but had modern appointments. Seriously this guitar is retarded.
Jose Murphy
clyp.it/ghn0mgfk condor les paul with super distortion and 59 condor strat with overwound SRV pickups and guitar fetish bridge and tele neck
Hunter Martin
hollowbody, unless you're afraid of a lil feedback like some soyboy
Ayden Lee
semi hollow for humbuckers hollowbody for single coils or P90s.
Angel Green
My friend has one. Plays and sounds amazing but I wouldn't pay more than $1000 for it and even then I'd consider other guitars.
Cooper Garcia
Dream Machines are some of the nicest playing guitars on the planet. >t. noob
Benjamin Jenkins
>he thinks the wood a fret-board is made of makes a difference in sound >he thinks the wood the neck is made of makes a difference in sound >he thinks the wood the body is made of makes a difference in sound
Okay, I'm with you
>he thinks the bolt-on vs set neck vs neck through makes a difference in sound
Well more a difference in the way they sustai- >he thinks the pickups makes a difference in sound
dude
>he thinks the scale length makes a difference in sound
Well I mea- >he thinks the amp makes a difference in sound
Oh thank god it's bait
Jaxon Green
I liked your christmas album. That's too much like Mabel's Fatal Fable. Did you do a Jason Becker harmonic analysis? It's not so hard, and you'll realize why he sounds like he does. I recommend you to check the arpeggios from Serrana or the intro of Altitudes. Images from Cacophony is a good example of his progressions. They are really obvious. If you wan't to make an album like him, go ahead, but I would suggest you to practice one of his songs. Full. Again, I recommend you to change your fingering for arpeggios with more than three strings, they are really not clean. I tried to be as polite as possible, but I can't take serious someone with a string damper, I'm sorry.
William Howard
can i get BB King tones with a hollowbody (btw whats the gibby hollowbody es335)
Eli Peterson
Guy with the blue Jem here.
I listened to the whole thing but when you're tapping you seem like you need better distortion what pedal so you use? The twang tho. I liked the ending where you did a kind of classical and pulled off come country licks.
Also nice try with the killswitch at the end lol.
Blake Williams
Get me a top like that for 200 bucks. Give me a link, please.
Zachary Collins
>btw whats the gibby hollowbody es335 ES-330/Epiphone Casino
David Morgan
No worries, I was in the same place with jazz a few years ago. Get a couple theory books, especially ones aimed at guitarists for developing jazz lines, and you'll start picking up on jazz language more easily and your playing will sound more like you know what you're doing.
Isaiah Davis
BAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAH JESUS CHRIST DUDE
Alexander Bell
I meant the literal top itself is worth 200 dollars of the total price, so we agree.
Joshua Cook
thanks. just guitar to amp
isnt the casino smaller and p90s. far from a "hollowbody 335"
William Morris
do you ever plug the jem directly into the interface? if you do, where do you set the instrument gain knob at? i have a similar set up and i set mine to avoid any clipping but i feel like the signal is too weak sometimes
Kevin Rogers
I know what you meant. Give me a link of a wood with that grain for 200 bucks.
So you dislike Guthrie Govan? Also I can play this without a string dampener, I'll show you next upload.
And I listened to all of Jason Beckers albums.
Serrana and perpetual burn is what inspired me.
Everyone that plays guitar irl thinks my 6 string and 6 string sweeps are very clean. I asked my ex guitar teacher who graduated berklee about it after you told me last time and he agreed.
Do you mind showing me your stuff?
Samuel Martinez
330 had P90s
Nicholas Richardson
ok so it doesnt count either what is the gibson es335 but hollowbody and everything else the same
Cooper Watson
Govan doesn't play with a string damper, only for some of his tapping. Another thing is to use something to stop the sympathetic vibrations of the headstock's strings, and that's something he does. I don't upload here, I have irl feedback.
Landon Lewis
can someone explain why the note at 2:49 made that feedback-like sound clyp.it/ghn0mgfk
Adrian Reed
I know music theory friend, I've practiced and studied for years, I played classical for weddings a few times. Ask me anything, I'm just not good with Jax phrasing.
Why do you post on an anonymous board an ask me to show you stuff? Don't take my advice and keep playing as you wish. Did you do an harmonic analysis of Becker style? Did he play with a string damper?
Dylan Campbell
No need to get defensive.
I like feedback from both irl and anonymous. I have 7 guitar friends and play at weddings sometimes.
