Dare I say it?

Dare I say it?
I think it's overrated.

damn what a hot take!

I humbly disagree

its extremely overrated, but a handful of the songs are divine in their beauty

...

Kill me, Pete

I think the fact he was dying when he was making it colors my perception but it sounds authentic, like he doesn't have good reviews or dicksuck dividends to look forward to and he's just doing it to hear good music

I think j dilla has objectively better sounding stuff in his discography but this album shows his creativity and separates him from "beat makers" in hip-hop, especially at the time.
Donuts is the kind of album you have to know the background of in order to fully appreciate it
Such as the message he was trying to convey, the samples he used, etc.

what background

Read the next sentence
Also he literally made the album on his death bed

>Such as the message he was trying to convey, the samples he used, etc.
no substance to that sentence at all.
I guess you were refering to the death bed part

You're right, here

Good luck!

Im getting a idea.
Perhaps you mean like black culture and soul samples?

smн this album is literally like Madvilliany except with lo-fi kiddies

this album doesn't have a rapper over the beats what are you doin an o

Donuts is good though.

overrated as fuck the instrumentals on madvillainy shit over everything on donuts

At least it don't got some fag talking over it ffs

I like Endtroducing more but this album is still great

Best track on it was 'Two can Win', especially since the guy was dying so it sounds like a perfect epilogue to a life lived doing what you love, even if he had he had to bow out earlier than most.

You mean nujabes
No one really does shit like this album anymore, save for the lofi drums
Even the sampling technique is different
Missing the point

Fantastic Vol. 2 and pic related are better. Prove me wrong.

They objectively sound better
Also why does everyone like vol.2 so much more than vol.1?
I liked vol.1 way more

What are some god-tier hip hop instrumental albums other than the usual classics?
Beat Konducta in India is fantastic and a recent one is Onra's Chinoiseries

>Beat konducta in India
Is it better than 5-6?, 5-6 is fucking great If you haven't heard it
Also flying lotus does some interesting shit on cosmogramma and you're dead

Best tracks are the ones with the soul samples like stop!, two can win, don't cry, and lightworks
