Holy fcking shit, I just listened to Faust - Faust.
I did listen 2 it once before, I didnt like it. But this time, just wow.
Pure gold
I've already listening to Frances, Deloused, and Amputechture. I've slept on these guys for years, but I'm glad I'm listening to them now. They're just absolutely mind-blowing.
Penderecki's first symphony. I think this is a good a place as any to get off the P-bus. It was a fun ride, though.
...
just got this underrated gem today
>What are you listening to today?
Gettin pretty comfy. Listnan to this right now.
>ME IS A MEADOW MEAL
>AND THE GUESS I GET IT
>AND THE GATE I GET IT
>AND THE GAME I GET IT
pretty proggy thread hey
Can you rec me something with quirky Gentle Giant vibe?
King Crimson and Van Der Graaf Generator
just kidding, listen to Curved Air, Rare Bird and Lighthouse
Stoner Prog, underappreciated imo.

hey m2, hi5 user
Can somebody recommend more prog like this? Can't find anything that comes close to how good it is.
This album has some quirky guitar stuff but it's still pretty lit
Have you heard the Anthony Phillips solo stuff? Private Parts and Pieces II: Back to the Pavilion, and The Geese and the Ghost are excellent.
Gryphon, of course!
Anyone have any recs for futuristic, synth heavy prog?
sonic youths album 'a thousand leaves'
easily a 9/10 underrated
woops this is a prog thread my bad
I'll check them out, thanks!
...
idk man, im getting a kick out of all their albums in one way or another, but i would say frances takes the cake so far
Any Camel fans here? What are the best albums? Heard about the band often, never dived in before.
What are your top 5 prog albums?
*5/4 ostinato intensifies*
Generic answers but here we go
1. King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King
2. Yes - Close to the Edge
3. Pink Floyd - Animals
4. Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon
5. King Crimson - Larks' Tongues in Aspic
Recs for futuristic / space age / alien / sci-fi sounding prog appreciated.
>tfw your favorite band was known for their extravagant live shows, but quality live material is extremely scarce, unless you're OK with 90s Greg Lake
Also, why did their other live albums sound like dogshit?
im new to /prog/ looking for somethin accessible any recommendations
1 Van der graaf generator - Godbluff
2 King crimson - Red
3 Yes - Close to the edge
4 Eloy - Ocean
5 Museo rosenbach - Zarathustra
Close to the Edge is the best album ever and also very accessible.
Mirage is easily their best, but Rain Dances is underrated
Yes. Avoid Van der graaf generator.
sucks
1) ELP - Trilogy
2) Yes - CttE
3) Jethro Tull - TaaB
4) ELP - Emerson, Lake, and Palmer
5) The Nice - The Thoughts of Emerlist Davjack
>Welcome Back My Friends to The Show That Never Ends could have been a godtier live album if it had better audio quality
it sucks that this is the case with them
Genesis - Selling England by the Pound
Yes - Close to the Edge
King Crimson - Red
ELP - Brain Salad Surgery
Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick
What does Sup Forums think of this?
They might just be my favorite prog at the moment. While other bands like Yes, PF, and KC have objectively better musicians, lyricists, and ESPECIALLY singers, Camel always manages to put a much bigger smile on my face than any of them.
Also , I beg to differ that Moonmadness is much better.

Pink floyd it's the most accessible prog band. Be sure to check king crimson and yes too.
>Aphrodite's Child - 666
>Pure Reason Revolution - The Dark Third
>Rishloo - Living as Ghosts with Buildings as Teeth
>Kayo Dot - Coffins on Io
>Xhol Caravan - Electrip
Gazpacho - March of Ghosts
Mystery - Delusion Rain
Procession - Still
Curved Air - Phantasmagoria
Big Big Train - Underfall Yard
My favorite is I Can See Your House From Here, but I'd say the best albums are Mirage, The Snow Goose and Moonmadness.
I think there isn't a single weak album by Camel. Also Peter Bardens made some really good songs during his solo career.
i listened to it 1.5 times. i like it but i have trouble making out whats going on or understanding the lyrics. i want to keep listening to it. i love relayer but havent really gotten into the other albums except close to the edge a bit.
i wish there were more albums like the one you posted, i think its probably some of the most ambitious prog there is i think outside the mars volta and even then they have a different slant
Dün
It gets better with every listen
should you listen to the court of the crimson king right away our check out some stuff first then listen
thanks ill check it out
not familiar with Van der graaf generator whats so bad about no wait i can guess everything. sorry if that sounded sarcastic that last part was a joke
I'm not sure what you said, but I was just baiting and the only thing wrong with them is that I don't like their music
I'm with you on this, I don't get why Van Der Graaf Generator is so revered
>animals
My nigger. Seriously, one of my top 3 albums ever. It's that good.
It is not bad prog, but very generic. Doesn't stand out in any way. It gets boring fast
not prog
not available (for viewing in my country)
not prog
not prog
barely prog, also sucks
prog only in name
Pole by Besombes Rizet, 4 Visions by Eskaton
listened to this one for the first time in a while and holy shit it's better than I remembered
ITCOTCK
CTTE
Camembert Electrique by Gong
Larks Tongues in Apsic
4 Visions by Eskaton
>The Mothers Of Invention - Uncle Meat
>Cardiacs - Sing To God
>Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick
>The Mars Volta - Frances The Mute
>King Crimson - Red
maybe not very original but they're all god-tier
Who /avant-prog/ here?
Pic related is fantastic and very underrated
I find Barden's synth solos to be the peak of Camel. What are his best solo works?
What's the point of singing in a language that only exists in your band's songs?
idunno but it results in some nice delivery and vocal harmonies
I always saw the Kobaia gimmick as a more extreme version of Cedric's gibberish lyrics in The Mars Volta, in which no one knows what the fuck they're talking about but it sounds really good

I listened to MDK but couldn´t get into it.
How is this other album different? So that I know if I might like it
snowgoose is incredible
it's more loose and less repetitive/mechanic than MDK. there's a bigger focus on the instrumentation as opposed to the vocal harmonies and such, so if the vocals turned you off you you might not mind them as much here. more jazzy too.

Fripp is God_?
That statement is just frippant
I've been listening to it. Sounds like John Coltrane meets aliens on acid, and I see some GG also
>Besombes Rizet
This is fucking great user. How did you find this?
From individual songs I'd recommend the title tracks from The Answer (-70), Write My Name in the Dust (-71) and Heart to Heart (-79).
Few other highlights would be 'Journey', 'Rain Talk' and 'Gunblasters'. I think his most cohesive album is Seen One Earth.
Also his live band Mirage has some interesting renditions of many Camel classics.
>prog made after 1975 isn't prog
I can't remember. I think I was on one of those deep dark youtube binges
last time I checked, the only one who designates what is "prog" and what isn't is me. good day.
metaphysically kill yourself my dude
>be me
>get King Crimson VIP package
>second row seats
>ask David Singleton if he knows what the setlist is and if they're doing Breathless
>he doesn't know
>concert begins
>Breathless plays
never thought I'd ever see and hear it live, Fripp must have read my mind
Fripp bless
i already did long ago :(
>Prog thread
>All this love for fripp
>No love for the keyboard god
The delighted screams of your mother lmao
Because he's shit
Bedlam is pretty good.
Had the good fortune to see him live many, many years ago. Amazing. Cosy Powell literally bought the house down and Emerson destroyed an old Moog with two Bowie knives until it was a smoking heap. Definitely not shit.
I went through an ELP stage and bought all their albums. I really can't stand all that bullshit he did with the keyboards. The only songs I still find to be listenable are the ones written by Lake. I get what they were going for at the time, but man, it mostly has no soul.
Agree.
Wakeman is the superior Keygod. As if there were any question.
I’ve been listening to this a lot lately, any particular albums of his I should check out next or should I just go through them all chronologically?
Hi christgau
Of the trio, Keith was the one who put the most heart into the music. Greg's songs were literally just so the albums charted. The keyboard bits are the best part.
Wrong
I GOT SUNSHINE IN MY STOMACH
LIKE I JUST ROCKED MY BABY TO SLEEP
SEMIRAMIS - Dedicato a Frazz
Rush - 2112
Gryphon - Red Queen to Gryphon Three
Nektar - Journey to the Centre of the Eye
King Crimson - Discipline
