good PR

gay fag nerd

waste of talent

Boring

/thread

BORING.

t. "Theory limits creativity"

Would be good without the vocals.

Not an artist

It doesn't. Having no creative inspiration does tho

The Kenny G of whatever he does.

This.

Also this. It's his fucking voice that's really grating and those fucking effects on it that make it sound like robots farting.

What effects are you noticing? He just uses a harmonizer sometimes for lower octave layering

He should do jazz porn...oh wait he already does.

t. jacob

>The Kenny G of whatever he does.
It's a shame because of wasted talent in both cases. Kenny G has a phenomenal circular breathing technique.

>t. "Theory limits creativity"
For agreeing with the first post and writing one word? I also agree with
. Dream up another fantasy, I'm waiting.

how so?
is it because you don't understand?

but could kenny g write something like this?

One of the few modern artists implementing new musical ideas that actually sound good successfully.
Not mentioning his over the top proficiency on lots of instruments.

The only explanation I can come up with for Sup Forums's dislike of him is that you're all just shitposting.

All of the harmony he uses is so dense and lacking in subtlety that after a while of listening it just mushes into this mess of notes.

He seems to be pretty inspired by Herbie, he should listen to Herbie playing in Miles Second Quintet, dense is fine, but it needs simplicity to contrast and the music needs air to breathe.

At least groups like Dirty Loop who do similar stuff ease off a little bit for hooks and stuff. With Jacob it's like he just has to make everything as dense as possible.

That said I thought his performance of 'In The Real Early Morning' at the Proms was genuinely one of the loveliest things I have listened to. Incredible performance and orchestration. The album version of 'Hideaway' was also very tasteful imo

Young guy that has been only surrounded in the realm of music performance and theory. He might make some interesting stuff once he does some stuff outside of the music industry for inspiration, but for now it all seems pretty aimless and not very compelling outside of the art music scene. He'll probably be much cooler in 10 years if his ego doesn't swallow him whole, but he seems nice and has some of the best guidance in the biz. He'll be ok

What does this guy have to do to get Sup Forums to like him?

>He'll probably be much cooler in 10 years if his ego doesn't swallow him whole, but he seems nice and has some of the best guidance in the biz. He'll be ok

This. In general he needs to breathe a bit and calm down a little - everything he does is so forced and in your face. I'd love to see him grow up a bit, and grow into his music.

Not be a faggot

some djent ass shit. Piano djent

Hmm, when he shuts the fuck up his music aint bad.

This is the best thing he's done because he doesn't sing at all. And it's legitimately great

you must have missed danny boy then
it's already been posted

Make something genuinely good.

Yeah that fucking sucked. Don't push your luck.

then you don't understand good harmony

Wrong

Pet Sounds is my favorite album......

you forgot to greentext

aw FUCK
yeah I love rautavaara too, and I can see where your taste is coming from, but I still think you're missing something in collier's music
I don't know how to explain what it is

but anyone who like rautavaara is a friend of mine

I feel like Collier mostly subverts the harmonies from doing their thing. That's kind of the essence of reharmonzation I suppose and there's no doubt he is good at it. But then I listen to Hideaway or one of his original songs and it just sounds like pre-reharmonized pop. And even that other thing was just nice jazz, not particularly new or exciting. Also, I don't like that kind of singing I suppose.

nah his voice sounds fucking awful

bob dylan was so cute back then

these

Every fucking song he does with his harmonizing piano sounds like the same slow imogen heap song over and over again. If I wanted 6 minutes of snail crawl vocoder I'd paulstrech my farts thank you very much

He's cute but his voice is weird.

These. His voice just doesn't sound right. The instrumentals are beautiful, though.

i think this could be chalked up to him being young and excited, he'll probably become more refined as he gets older

become a noise artist

I don't really care how harmonically or rhythmically complex his music is, its literally aural soy.

you have autism

You haven't read a single reply, have you? There are legitimate reasons.

washed up melee player

Drop vocoders and harmonizers for a start. Just like how Chick Corea could've done without Yamaha KX5 in the 80's. A good example of talent surpassing at the time primitive technology is Pat Matheny on Offramp.

>caring about rhythmic and harmonic complexity for its own sake
>listening to something that sounds as gay as this guy's music

That person is not me.
