whos this granny lmao

That looks like an image from a horror movie that I'd be too scared to watch.

That's an odd way of coming out of the closet, but I'm proud of you nonetheless.

i remember when this board was all over iamamiwhoami like it was the second coming of jesus

Well it's better than the latest effort by the other queens of pop (Björk, Grimes, etc), for sure. It expands on the more poppy side of Iamamiwhoami (namely BLUE) but adds that dark element that defined their early work.

It goes on a bit too long, but that might change with repeated listens. Great album overall; dark pop done properly.

This cover's like 100 times better

a shit thanks for letting me know this was out. who says this board is trashy useless garbage. everyone. oh right.

its really not that good

It is, though. Moreso when compared with the shit that's been released (and praised on this board) over the past two years

>the other queens of pop (Björk, Grimes, etc
not to mention the disaster that was Fever Ray's much expected comeback

Kin was an amazing album. Goat tier Synthpop. This ionnalee stuff I'm not so sure about. Miss Claes Bjorklund's programming.

Yeah, their first two albums (even though their second album is more of a compilation of pre-Kin singles) are on a different level, but I really dig the bright, poppy take on that dark, atmospheric synth-cabaret-whatever. Here's hoping she'll do a less structured, more unpredictable album next.

rofl

>is it a new album or compilation?
I've got an headache.

Only five of the fifteen tracks featured on the album had been released as singles, so it's 2/3rds a new album

Bumping thread with iamamiwhoami online concert 2010. The condensed version.

Pretty amazing shit.

iamamiwhoami/ionnalee >>>> Grimes

Céline Dion really didn't aged so well

shut up jonna lee a babe

she put it under her old name so i didn't know it existed. i suppose that means it's a solo album.

So we all agree that Fold is the best track off the album, right?

I feel like the first five tracks are the absolute best, followed by Samaritan and Blazing

Haven't really liked much from ionnalee, BLUE was probably the best album I've ever heard though.

funny since EATBF pretty much picks up where BLUE left off

lol what? EATBF is all dark or really safe pop shit, what track compares to stuff like thin or hunting for pearls? I listen to blue when I skateboard, partially why I like it so much, but EATBF isn't as quick and doesn't jive well. I liked that one track in The Novice though, about all I got out of the film/album.

>all dark or really safe pop shit
I fear I won't be able to have a proper exchange of opinions with you, my friend. Glad you enjoy BLUE as much as I do, though

T is the best synthpop piece ever

I personally think Play is their crowning achievement

is that who it is, i downloaded them by accident like a year ago on soulseek i think or through tag searching on a private tracker I think. They're okay but tacky and cheesy as all fuck

Dude blue sounded like naked eyes on methamphetamine and was completely unapologetic synth pop, all of ionnalee's stuff is more narrative driven arthouse pop. It isn't bad, but it's definitely a departure from crystal pornography shriek-bleep.

I believe you 110%

If you think BLUE's not also slightly dark, narrative driven and artsy then I'm sad to see that you enjoy it for the wrong reasons. But whatever, it's still good that you do.

Bumping with Clump

every song on BOUNTY sans U-1 is a fucking masterpiece

Don't talk shit about U-1

isn't it werid how bounty was their second album even though it was thoroughly recored and technically already released two years before kin

You pricks. Now you got me listening to iamamiwhoami / Jonna Lee. I'll be on that tip for a minute. Always get on binge with her.

I had this album on repeat for like 6 months.

well, it was about time this board remembered one of the most original and compelling electronic acts of the fucking decade

>the body language in Idle Talk
das it

Amen to that brother

>these bitches all make me ill
Damn...

>best 2 songs they've ever made

easily both in my top 5 songs of the decade there
videos are also GOAT tier

i miss robinovich directing their videos... ever since they started amateurly doing their own videos (since blue) quality and creativity has really gone downhill

also this new release of ionnalee is easily the worst release the iamamiwhoami camp has ever done
wish they'd just create more music again as a group

>also this new release of ionnalee is easily the worst release the iamamiwhoami camp has ever done
Seeing as everything they've released is basically gold, I don't see this as an issue at all. It's their fourth greatest album.

>Not one of you, not ONE of you have said a word about the AOTYSF.
oh geez cos aotysf is such an important title less than 2 months into the year

this thread's not for faggots user

no u

>Seeing as everything they've released is basically gold

yeah i'm a huge iamamiwhoami fan and this is bullshit

i LOVED everything from preludes, bounty, and kin
but blue is when they really started to appear shaky
half the songs on that record were meh-tier (especially final 3)

with this ionnalee release i've only liked maybe 3 songs out of the 15
lacking claes bjorklund's production shows as things feel far too copy + pasted throughout the record, and it doesn't have the same lush synth soundscape feel that kin and bounty captured so beautifully

Sorry bud, BLUE is flawless. I do prefer their early stuff, but it's a 10/10 anyway. It has a different approach, a clearly more poppy one, but it does what it does better than any other album of its kind, especially any album from this decade.

>Sorry bud, BLUE is flawless. I do prefer their early stuff, but it's a 10/10 anyway.

i mean c'mon man, i want people to love iamamiwhoami as much as any hardcore fan but when fans say shit like this and treat everything jonna lee touches as auditory gold it makes people even more put off from enjoying the band in the first place

a good example is how anthony fantano practically hated the group back in their kin/bounty days but was forced to give kin a good review but it was an actually great album

but when he criticized blue for the mediocre cracks it showed the iam cult fans jumped on him and any other fan that criticized the record

Well, I don't care if anyone else likes what I like and I have never spoken to anyone else who likes the project outside of this thread and have never watched fantano. Still, BLUE is excellent from the first second to the last.

Literally how the fuck did this bitch come out of fucking nowhere with such high production value material in 2009?

Hardly out of nowhere. She already had a lot of experience in the music business, and paired with talented people.

my theory is she used her record label money from her first 2 records and joined forced with robinovich and a special effects team he worked with to produce the preludes & bounty

youtube.com/watch?v=oPFM3DUVT-8

claes bjorklund her producer was already gathering a large amount of synths during her last record "this is jonna lee", so they had the idea already planted by then

when bounty proved successful (mainly from random "y" "lol how did i get here" clicks and christina aguilera brazil gay fans), they decided to work again for kin

This has to be a fucking joke because ive literally never seen such a drastic decline in an artist than what ive seen this bitch do after Kin

t. brainlet

right when they started doing social media and not releasing videos at random it all went downhill

they got sucked into the fame when they were supposed to be completely anonymous against it

>insert star wars meme pic here

>tfw I had a really good idea for an audiovisual-film-like project but I'm afraid everyone will just compare it to iamamiwhoami so I don't even bother
>also don't have any money anyway
life is bullshit ;_;

>im a brainlet for being exactly right

>being exactly right

>tfw i have good ideas for audiovisual film too
>and live in a great area to film it

but i don't have any friends so its pointless

my dream is to see a high quality anonymous band (like early iamamiwhoami) spring up out of nowhere and release some absolute bangers, with nobody knowing who the fuck they are

then they disappear from years, release another anonymous video banger, and disappear again

Blue was an 8/10.

Had some good moments.

youtu.be/ETCnS4Lj9Y4

It had at least ten good moments, averaging 5 minutes each

>my dream is to see a high quality anonymous band (like early iamamiwhoami) spring up out of nowhere and release some absolute bangers, with nobody knowing who the fuck they are
why do they never stay anonymous? The Knife had a good thing going but they kinda ruined it.
imagine if Silent Shout had been released by surprise in total anonymity.

Because turns out that a lot of people judge the quality of a musical project by its music and not by its gimmicks
