Henry Allen
cakewalk got bought + some old people hired by some company named bandlab so they might be working on new sonar
Something sounds really off time, I think the snare is off...
Asher Richardson
Doing this as a hobby requires quite some dedication . I am just starting out and I thought it would be like playing an instrument, but no, instead I have to learn about sound first, then figure out a target genre to try to mimic atleast at first and then there is composition,I fucking suck at composition because I am approaching this like I did instruments , play for sometime and stop , but here it's more like a project. I now realize why I am not that good at guitar.
Michael Johnson
You are right. But there is no snare, I failed with bitwigs clip to arranger transfer. Fuck I realize I could just copy clips on to the arranger.
hey guys just released a new track, cloud trap kinda vibes, please show some love!
all feed back will be returned >cloud >trap

Anybody an FL-to-Ableton immigrant? How long until you get used to Ableton's piano roll?
Blake Green
can you even fucking read
Adam Hughes
in live 10 the piano roll is improved so it shouldn't be so bad to get used to most of the complaints about it are from live 9 and before
Easton Morgan
it's still fucking bad compared with FL it's ridiculously bad
Julian Rogers
I wanna eat this dude's face
Joshua Roberts
What's wrong with it / different?
Jack Russell
yes other daws have more features in the piano roll and ableton likely wont implement them anytime soon because look how long it took for them to do other features people asked for years
Kevin Ross
well, everything, it's just a bad piece of programming and design to begin with, slight improvements don't help even older daws' midi editors are more decent
Xavier Carter
I'm on ableton and I looked at a vid on Fl studio piano roll and it seemed identical, so why say it, are you stupid
Lucas Gomez
sounds like ass good job faggot
Hudson Hughes
Hey everyone Here's an experiment I cooked up 16 hours ago in Audacity from scratch. Make sure your volume is turned down if you decide to check it out, it's probably loud clyp.it/a3nlk4d4 How is it?
Dominic Thompson
how about neck yourself you absolute faggot
Leo Lopez
>I looked at a vid well, then you're incredibly informed
Jaxson Brown
Do you do a lot of MIDI editing in ableton's piano roll? At this point I'm getting slight depression because I mostly use piano roll in FL and am starting to feel like I'm just fucked in Ableton
Leo Davis
How did you do this, pretty interesting. Are you using Linux? If yes care to recommend since vst?
Dominic Ross
why do you want to switch if fl is more comfortable for you
Gabriel Sullivan
because I feel like it's holding me back and i do like the session view as well as the automation seems pretty swell and overall I think it's going to be better in the long run for me to switch to ableton
Lucas Rodriguez
not exactly prod related but whatever. Anyone work with others? Anyone work with others whose output varies from decent to laughably bad? What do you do with friends that make shit music prod? Someone needs to tell them to stop making shit music and I just don't have the heart
Kevin Russell
Ok you're both stupid, >everything is wrong with it yet you can't point to one thing?
Logan Robinson
It's clunky as shit, not that user but everyone knows ableton's piano roll is a big pile of shit
Ethan Carter
It took me a month or two max. Learn to use the midi effect devices, since most of the midi functionality is moved there so it can be used live and changed in real time. After that it's just a matter of getting comfortable with the different workflow and stopping expecting to have FL's features and behaviors in Ableton.
I even used to do my MIDI in FL, then move it to Ableton, but after a while I stopped because after I got used to it, I was just as productive as in FL.
Also check out maxforlive.com for midi devices that add features to Ablton's midi.
Colton Mitchell
Clunky? if you learned the key shortcuts it wouldn't be, sounds like you're too lazy and dumb to adjust.
Josiah Lewis
i would just choose one and commit to it i think switching between daws is a waste of time mostly
Henry Evans
Oh fuck off, the piano roll sucks even with shortcuts. Abletonfags are extremely insecure I've noticed, must be why they always go on about how they're using "the best daw" while everyone else minds their business.
Made this in the morning and I quite like it. I'm dreading listening to it tomorrow and discovering its shit. Any feedback appreciated.
I made that switch and I still miss the FL piano roll. I've gotten used to the ableton one now, its workable but its just so clunky compared to FL. I don't feel like its an impediment its just a little awkward and annoying. At the end of the day you can get the same results with the shitty piano roll, so its worth the switch imo.
Nathan Parker
You can't even say why it sucks, I've heard it too 'piano roll is terrible compared to FL' but what's different about it, do you even know?
Julian Brooks
Not that user but I've been using Ableton since two years ago and I don't have any problem with it,can you tell me why the piano roll sucks?
Aiden Kelly
You're right, Abletonfags tend to be pretty boastful, but one thing where it's worse than the competition (the piano roll) doesn't mean that it's worse in everything else too. All DAWs have pros and cons compared to te competition. You just have to decide what's best for you and see if the pros are more important than the cons. For example, I mainly use Ableton (and some times FL for certain things), and if I had to switch to FL full time I'd gain the pro of the superior piano roll and a few other things (that are less important to me), but I'd lose Ableton's integration with Max, which is a core part of my work, the (IMO) superior workflow, the ease of finding tutorials for technique that are done in it, etc. When I went from using FL full time to Ableton I decided to leave the nice piano roll for all the other advantages, which, to me, make Ableton the OVERALL best choice (even if it's not the best in every aspect).
Jacob Wright
Can you please review the production on this discography (300 words minimum)
Have you considered rewiring it to use FLs piano roll? i read somewhere its possible but I don't know if it's doable or just some cunts talking out of their asses
Ayden Roberts
Double clicks. Clunky. Draw mode sucks. It tends to do this weird overlap thing that just deletes whatever is under it. Quantization sucks. The way it snaps to the grid can be frustrating. It's just inferior to FL.
Alexander Allen

Easton Foster
because we don't like it it's a subjective question of design, see
Oliver Torres
You haven't even listened to it you fag lmao
F-, head towards directors office
Nolan Gonzalez
Yeah I had typed a whole thing basically saying this. Ableton has things it's vastly superior at (warping and looping, on board effects), don't get me wrong. It's all about what works for you. Most daws do essentially the same thing.
Mason Sullivan
it looks horrible from the name alone not going to listen
Andrew Anderson
Are you scared?
I hope so
Ethan Martin
My computer's not good enough to run two DAWs at the same time without taking a significant performance hit. Also it's a clunky workflow that would negate the advantage of using FL's piano roll (since 99.9% of the things I need are doable in Ableton's piano roll, just not as "comfortably" as in FL).
Jonathan Anderson
Ok you can actually alter all those issues in Ableton, I know, I've done it eg turn fixed grid off, B toggles draw mode etc. I'm not coming from a place of ableton is the best, more like I'd like to know what I'm missing out on but it seems its the same stuff just the default is set differently (which you can change in ableton anyway).
Jeremiah Nelson
I listened to it yesterday when YouTube suggested it to me.
Lucas Wilson
I want you to listen to all of this and rate it extensively.
To all the producers here: You can't do shit. I am an actual artist and going to change and mix shit with different samples etc to make not full songs, but whole albums that include bridges, intros, outros and many different technique's to approach the samples I find. To me it's disgusting how you wannabe artists come here, take three seconds from Rubycon for a loop and think you're the shit. You are nothing.
Ayden Ramirez
1/10 pasta somebody will reply I get lonely :(
Too depressed to produce rn
Lucas Clark
What is the percussion in this track that starts at 0:50?
anybody remember the sample threads wew used to have on Sup Forums where dubs decide what to sample and everybody had to flip it?
there should have those again
Charles Rodriguez
Actually what is he percussion period. What the fuck makes that sound?
Thomas Parker
>clyp.it/xocbxzwf cool stuff. top tier melodies, but i think sounds could use some filtering, that main lead is kinda harsh. nice work user
Adam Wilson
A few months ago someone tried a similar idea, made a proper image with rules and whatnot, and a few people even started making some stuff, but after that thread everyone seemed to forget about it. /prod/ is basically on life support right now. I don't think you'd be able to have serious partecipation in something like this.
fuck off if you actually think this. You are no better than any of us inhere you demeaning jerk. You can keep your little sampler, it doesnt mean you know how to produce. And it doesn't mean anything that you can mix things with different samples and make full albums. Your albums are flat and overproduced. An artist respects the silence that serves as the foundation for creativity. You wouldn't know anything about that. You are no artist
Anthony Rivera
are you new here this pasta gets posted every thread lol or is this reply a pasta too idk i never read the replies
Hunter Stewart
both are pasta in some form
Evan Perry
aren't we all pastas in some form when everyone asks the same questions every thread and gets the same answers, isn't this whole thread pasta? really makes u think huh
Connor Gonzalez
If we had a music making board we could have one whole thread at a time where all the posters make a song out of the same sample/s, and we could keep it bumped for enough time to let people get in and work on something worthwile. We could probably make one thread a week and it wouldn't die immediately like /prod/s because there wouldn't be a million new shitposting threads drowning it out like on Sup Forums.
Gabriel Hall
Haha faggot have fun making sounds from scratch and keeping off other producers about how you're all "real" musicians. While I flip samples and make bangers that people actually enjoy. That's why djs and people like me actually get pussy with our songs and all you SoundCloud producers struggle trying to scrape together 100 listens
Daniel Nguyen
No
... I am pasta
Charles Morales
FIght me. I will synthesize or sample or scratch circles around you toy ass. You wanna go? Most insulting track in one week?
Nolan Hernandez
so like what the edmproducton subreddit does? It's a good idea but without moderators/people dedicating time curating packs it wouldnt work too well. And that idea could be implemented into the OP here also
Oliver Myers
sure pussyboi. I'm working on something incredible right now but i'll pause for a week to wipe some pencil neck twat. Loser leaves this board forever
Alexander Anderson
I'm so fucking serious. You can't beat me, ever. EVER. Get two hot tracks, throw em down. You even scratch? Right now, lets go.
Daniel Parker
As far as I know reddit makes the user who wins the competition choose the samples for the next one, but the idea that I mentioned had a way to get randomized samples based on the post number.
Hunter Hall
fuck it lets do this. I'm not even playing. You better have your best shit youve ever done prepared you fucking neet
Jackson Bell
Throw down your first track. I'm gonna go easy, put up an entry with no turntable work for my opener. As usual, no sample longer than 2 seconds, no loops and more than 10 sources were used. No DAWs.
>I'd rather have my tunes in circulation than a few $ in my pocket I have no problem supporting the artist and pay the right price for good goods. The industry definitely needs more music like this so I choose to vote with my dollars.
Christopher Morales
Yeah, me too! This music is great and he definitely deserves to get paid for these amazing works of art.
Anthony Sullivan
Hey, I'm all gratitude. The concept of people paying for my art after years of graf, battling & other free art output... just gets my heart racing.
Ian Fisher
I'd love to try it, but I fear it will just be two guys halfassing it for 30 minutes then forgetting about it. Maybe if we had a whole thread for it we could attract people who don't come inside /prod/, but we'd have the problem of keeping it bumped long enough.
Dominic Smith
producing...
Camden Fisher
Oh whoops you used your trip name when you replied to yourself lol
Carson Clark
Not him, but that's the right attitude! It's refreshing to see such an amazing artist being so humble in an industry full of cocky incompetents. I'll definitely tell all my friends about your music and urge them to pay a good price for it.
Nathan Adams
The record that got me here, 20 some years ago. Bless it.
I don't half ass... but I'd be down to stream the arrangement and scratch composing parts. They're fun to watch.
Nolan Gutierrez
Thanks, i'll try adjusting the kick. sampled the vocal from an acapella track and did some chops/pitch/warps, don't know the original song though.
>clyp.it/x4n1cqhk Great stuff, I really enjoyed the arrangement and pacing. Did you program all of that on a midi roll? Only thing that seemed off was the snare, imo it sounds too close and small, maybe layer with some extreme processing/distortion or make the reverb bigger. Also, have you tried sidechaining the pads with the kick? Might be cool when the beat drops back in.
Ace work right here. Did you play that guitar? Really dig the style you have going, though i'm not a big fan of the classic rock organ sound. Synth work in the beginning was top notch, loved that moog style solo in there.
Grayson Sanchez
why are you so rectally rect? Did a twin pair of "Impeach the president" touch you when you were little?
Brandon Myers
What do you mean? I'm just expressing my positive opinion of him and his music! What's wrong with that?
Ethan Ward
>Did a twin pair of "Impeach the president" touch you when you were little? What did he mean by this?
